Pap test and HPV

I was told 5 years ago that I have HPV I have been married for 37 years and am totally in shock. Neither of us have strayed, so where did I get it.

In 2013 I had a Pap test, this year I received a letter from the provincial centre telling me I needed another test done. I went to my doctor and she told me that there was no need since I had a hysterectomy when I was 29

Sometimes it can take HPV a bit to come in contact with your cervix and sometimes irregular results don't show for a while.
