Yeah, I know everyone else is doing a 12 week one, but I'm a bit contrary like that!
It's 13 weeks because that's halfway (at an average of 1 Kg per week) on my journey from where I started to the top of 'normal' BMI. (26 Kgs - 26 weeks).
Great work! Are you going to carry on with another 13 week cycle?
The 1 Kg a week - well, in fact, at the moment I'm a bit ahead of the game. Not dreadfully so, though.
Yes, I will probably carry on and aim for the 'final' goal.
My better half doesn't want me to look too gaunt and I do have quite a large frame, so if I hit a 'plateau' en route to that then I just might not fret too much about that.
As you guys will know, as your body weight drops, you need less calories a day to maintain it.
On the other hand, as you normalise your weight, i.e. become less overweight, your body adapts accordingly after a bit of time and adjusts to normal some of your hormone production. That is, you no longer end up with your hormones telling you that you're hungry and not telling you that you're full as much as you do when you're overweight. That is part of the "Catch 22" of being overweight. Also - and I only found this out the other day - getting rid of fat and gaining muscle apparently increases your metabolic rate because muscle needs more daily calories to maintain it than fat does.
So, it will be interesting to see just how easy, or hard, the extended journey may turn out to be.
So, have I mainly done the hard bit, or are the really tough times ahead?
