Last Monday I weighed 13 stone 1.8 pounds, and today I weigh 13 stone 2.4 pounds, so I've gained 0.6 pound this week. I had really hoped that I might have lost weight to try to get into the 12's, but sadly that hasn't happened. I tracked my food and drink intake using Myfitnesspal and I know I've eaten more calories overall this week - and I've had a few chocolate treats that I wouldn't normally have as well. But wherever possible I made healthy food choices, and I kept up my exercise. I got to the gym twice this week, which I was pleased about.
I'm not going to let a slight gain get me down - it's less than half a pound, and I need to just keep a positive frame of mind and try to keep going - the weight will come off in the end, and I'll be able to enjoy being in the 12's - hopefully in the next couple of weeks, all being well.
I hope everyone has had a good week. Please join me and share your experiences, and if you're new, why don't you join us - you'd be very welcome. It's a supportive group of people, and we've all got the aim of losing weight in a healthy way.
Here's to a good week ahead.

Like you my week not been quite as successful as I and hoped - a small quarter of a pound loss - but still I suppose in the right direction.
I have tracked and enjoyed my days - the previous weeks efforts had been obsessive and miserable. So a better week in terms of mood and feeling in control - so i will continue this week in the same frame of mind - but hope for better weight loss- to get into those elusive 11s. such bloody hard work - one blink or mishap; and weight leaps on -and takes days to lose. I must remember my reboot is actually only 17 days in- and aprrox 3 pounds gone in total.
Good luck to you LC next week- as you say small gain and I am sure it will be back off and some more next week. As always take it easy and hang in there
Congratulations on your quarter of a pound loss, that's really great - like you say it's in the right direction, and it's a loss. Also glad to hear you enjoyed your days, sounds much better than the previous weeks when you'd felt a bit obsessive and miserable. Having a more positive frame of mind is great, and I hope you have another positive week.
Thanks for your encouraging words, and let's hope we both have a loss next week. Good luck!

Hi I didn't lose last week and was disappointed . However I have kept up with the diet and exercise and have lost 1.2kg this week. It's hard having a week when you don't lose weight (or you gain). However it's worth keeping going.
I was able to give up the chocolate for the first 12 weeks but really I miss it too much. As this is a long term project (and I can't go without chocolate forever!) I have allowed some calories each day for chocolate treats. I have it at the end of the day if I've been good the rest of the day. That's a good incentive.
Another achievement this week is being able to get into size 14 jeans. That means I have gone down 2 dress sizes
Well done for losing 1.2 kg this week, that's really great! Brilliant to hear you've been able to get into size 14 jeans - going down 2 dress sizes is amazing. Hope you enjoyed wearing them.
I find this time of year to be probably the most challenging time, because there are so many adverts on TV for Christmasssy foods, and most of those look highly calorific but also highly tempting! So I think it makes me think about food more often than I normally would.
However, I am determined to 'keep on track' and I really do hope for a loss on the scales by next Monday.
Try watching catch up because it skips the ads! Fortunately I am not into mince pies etc so not tempted. Keep going it will be really worth not giving in for the long term. Have a good week
I also can't live without chocolate, I find when I try I end up making myself ill by bingeing. What I do now is exercise to build up treat calories, if I don't exercise then I don't allow myself any treats, but when I do I think the chocolate tastes so much better because I feel like i've earned it, previously I had it just because I could.
my first weigh in today and have lose 2.8lbs I am so pleased with myself , well done to all the other losers this week and if you have put on don't panic , a new week this week so go for it good luck everyone
I am just starting the 12 week challenge today, so not lost any weight to date but will be weighing myself every week to keep myself motivated. Keep up the good work and have a great week.
A warm welcome to you! Thanks for joining us today, and I hope you have a great first week on the 12 week challenge. I think it's very motivating to have a weekly weigh-in, and it definitely keeps me focused.
Wishing you a good week and hope you enjoy it. Look forward to catching up with you next week, and hopefully to celebrating your first week's loss!
Hi Lowcal. Sorry to hear about your gain, but as you say, it is less than half a pound so you should be able to lose that again. I've lost 3 pounds this week taking me to 11 stone 6 and am getting closer to my ideal weight range. I concentrated more of my calorie allowance this week and I think this helped.
My biggest motivator this week was that I have managed to get into my medium sized size 14 clothes and so am now the same size as I was when I started going out with my husband 10 years ago! Nearly at target now!
Congratulations on losing 3 pounds this week - that is incredible! Also great to hear you're getting into your medium sized 14 clothes - that's inspiring.
Thanks for encouragement, and I hope you have another really good week ahead, you're getting ever closer to your ideal weight range.
Hi all, Lowcal sorry you've gained this week but at least you've tracked your diet and exercise so you know what to target for next week, and I'm sure you'll lose this week
I went last Mon for a 24hr blood pressure monitor fitting and back on Tues for the results. My blood pressure was consistently sky high apart from when I was asleep I had to have an ECG and blood tests, and am going back to the Dr this evening for the results.
As a result of this I have had a miserable week worrying about my blood pressure and being afraid to do much at all! Couch to 5 k has gone out the window but i continued with my long dog walks. I really don't want to start taking medication until I know nothing else works but I will take the Dr's advice seriously.
I haven't had any alcohol since two weeks ago today when the nurse told me I had high blood pressure but so far this hasn't had a positive result on the scales I have gained 1lb this week but I'm determined to pull myself together and lose for next week!!
Sorry for the miserable missive today folks, I'll try and be more upbeat next week
Thanks so much for your kind words - hopefully I'll be able to lose something this week by next Monday.
So sorry to hear you've had a stressful week worrying about your blood pressure - that worry in itself certainly wouldn't help - I hope the Dr is helpful this evening when you go for your results. Good to hear you continued with your dog walks though - that is good.
Once you hear what your doctor has to say, you will probably be in a better position to process all the information and hopefully your doctor might give you some advice on how to reduce your blood pressure. I would imagine they might suggest some relaxation techniques, as those can be helpful to de-stress and take some of the worry out of it.
Don't be too concerned about gaining that 1 pound this week - I am sure it will come off again relatively quickly, and that you'll be on the losing path again soon - weight wise.
Be kind to yourself and I hope you are able to enjoy a more relaxing week this week - and hopefully your blood pressure will begin to come down. There might be some good books in the library or book shop that would discuss ways to reduce blood pressure, or maybe on the Patient.co.uk website?
Thanks Lowcal, I'm one of lifes worriers unfortunately I'll speak to the Dr about that too.
can't remember if I've ever mentioned it but I have 8 family members staying at the moment (5 months this week!!) and I'm fairly sure my Bp will drop a few notches when they move out hopefully in the next month, or I might move out!!
I can imagine it must be really tough having so many family members staying with you. I think your blood pressure will definitely drop a notch or two next month when they move out again!
Perhaps that gain is just muscle from your 2 trips to the gym? I'm sure you'll be in the 12's for Christmas
I'm happy to report that last week I was 14st 12lbs and this week I am 14st 10lbs so a 2lb loss this week, total weightloss is now 50lbs. I'm quite happy with this achievement. I've got my energy back and am hoping to lose the next 6lbs by Christmas to take me to the 4st loss.
It would be good if that 0.6 pound was a bit of muscle gain - that's a good point! I like your way of thinking.
Congratulations to you for losing 2 pounds this week - that's fantastic. Wow, you've lost 50 pounds in total - that's incredible. Really well done! I think you'll lose your 6 pounds by Christmas - there's still a few weeks left.
This is my first time on the Monday weigh in thread - I am constantly looking for motivation to keep myself going weight loss wise and I thought joining this thread might help. It is great reading about the successes and failures and makes me feel less alone on what seems like an endless process. I have been using this site since June, have completed the 12 week weight loss programme and since then have had many ups and downs and stalls in weight loss. I fell completely off the wagon on a week away over half term, and then over the following week. I have a big problem weighing myself - it is something I have to force myself to do each week - and of course sometimes I am horribly disappointed - I am sure this thread will help with that. I love that you are positive even when no weight has come off - and just push forward with next weeks target. I have not weighed myself for 3 weeks and having plucked up the courage to weigh myself today I am delighted that I have lost 2lbs - I thought I would have gained. I have now lost 20 lbs overall - which I am really pleased with and have 22 more to go to get to my target. I hovered round the 13 stone mark for what seemed like weeks - then suddenly I was in the 12s - a wonderful feeling. I am now 12st 8lbs and hope to lose 1 lb every week to Christmas and get to around 12s 3lb. Have a great week everyone!
I'm so glad you've joined us for this thread - firstly can I say that it's great that you've lost 20 pounds overall, and well done for losing 2 pounds this week. That's really good! You're nearly half-way there to your target, and you're into the 12's (I would so love to be in the 12's). Infact you're nearly a whole half stone into the 12's now. You've set yourself a good goal to lose a pound a week by Christmas. That's steady healthy weight loss.
I do try to stay as positive as I can, despite the occasional gains that happen to me. Overall, the trend is that I am losing - but it's a very gradual process for me. My weight on 1st January 2014 was 14 stone 5 pounds, so this year I've lost 1 stone and 2.6 pounds so far.
Anyway, let's hope we all have a good week this week. Look forward to catching up with you at next Monday's weigh-in.
Hi Lowcal you have done very well losing over a stone. It is frustrating when it is slow but as long as the trend is downward that is all that matters. Good luck for next week and thank you for your encouragement!
What are we like eh?? I also had a gain even though I was determined at the beginning of the week to get into the 11's. Last week's weight was 12st 0.6lbs and this week 12st 2.5lbs! I know exactly where the damage was done - my twin daughters celebrated their 21st birthdays over the weekend so lots of eating and drinking which has left me this fine Monday morning feeling slightly jaded and 2lbs heavier! Never mind - a new week and I will just have to try a little harder - I have no social plans and intend to make sure I don't miss an exercise session or run this week and hopefully next week will by my week and yours too!
Hope everyone has a great week this week, best wishes to you all.
Sorry to hear you've had a gain in weight this week, but at least you can see where it came from, and it was definitely a special occasion to help your twin daughters celebrate their 21st Birthdays.
Like you say, it's a new week, and I'm sure those 2 pounds will come off very quickly again, providing you are back on track and back to healthy food and exercise. You sound very committed to attend all your exercise sessions and runs.
Let's hope we have a good week ahead, and we'll be 'loser's' next week.
Lowcal
Hello Monday people,
I'm new here and have just completed week 1; really pleased to find this morning that I have lost 4.4lbs, so really happy with that
You are sure to put such a minute gain behind you Low cal and next week will see a loss. We are still travelling around although stuck at my folks for now with mum being unwell. Haven't been able to exercise at all so consequently have lost nothing but do fit into my size 16 cords now and from a size 24 it feels great! Hopefully can get my head around being back in the UK and find a house that we like soon!
Congratulations on being able to fit into your size 16 cords - that's a massive change from your previous size. Sorry to hear your Mum is unwell. Also sorry to hear you haven't been able to exercise - hope you can do some again soon, even if it's just some exercises in the house. Everything helps.
Thanks for your encouraging words, and let's hope we both lose something this week for next week's weigh-in.
Have a great week, and good luck with the house hunting.
Lowcal
Hi Lowcal,
Your gain I'm sure will not be a negative to your weight loss success, its minute, and like Kate says, it could be muscle building up if you've been to the gym too. I've been naughty and done little exercise this week. I have tracked, but like you I went over my calorie goals in total. Having said that, I've stayed the same which is the best I could have hoped for to be honest. This weekend we have a wedding to go, so really need to be good the rest of this week, and hopefully it won't show up on the scales next week!! And of course get the exercise in! Getting on the stationary bike tonight while I catch up on Strictly!
Glad you stayed the same despite those extra calories and little exercise. Hope you're able to be good for the remainder of the week so you can enjoy the Wedding on the weekend, and hopefully you might lose a bit this week. Great that you're going to have a session on your stationary bike tonight whilst watching 'Strictly'. Some good music to cycle to!
Have a great week. Thank you for your positive words, which are much appreciated.
Hi! This is my first post for the Monday weigh-in. I've lost 1.5kg (from 87.5 -> 86.0kg) from this time last week but have not been on the plan, I'm going to start the 12 week plan this week, so hopefully it works well, looks friendly and not too complicated!
A warm welcome to you, and thanks for joining us for the Monday weigh-in. It's great news to hear you've lost 1.5kg in your first week, despite not even having started the structured plan - you must be in the zone for weight loss, and in a positive focused state of mind. Well done!
Wishing you success with your first week on the plan itself, and hope you find it friendly and not too complicated - hopefully you'll have a successful week. Best of luck with it.
You'll get rid of your small gain soon enough I am sure. You offer so much support and positivity to all of us so I am batting it back to you - you can do it! Thank you for your weekly posts. I was out last night so didn't get the chance to tap away on here.
My weight has stayed the same this week. 12st 10.5lb. I probably could have done a bit more exercise and I didnt get to eat as much soup as I was hoping to... but I was a little surprised not to lose anything at all. However, I am feeling a bit thinner, I can feel it in my legs so there's that to feel good about. Wishing everyone a good week.
Thanks so much for your encouraging words. I really do appreciate it.
It's great that you're feeling a bit thinner, and you've noticed being thinner in your legs - that's great. You've maintained your weight this week, but I think you'll have a loss on the scales next week. Well done for not gaining any weight. Just keep going, and you'll get closer to your goals.
Hi all a mixed week for us all, Lowcal I found that sometimes a big loss resulted in a gain the next week, just make sure you take something to loosen your bòwels before next Mondays weigh in -you are doing great. I am stuck just 1/2lb loss this week. Have just watched the documentary about low carb diets that OlsBean put on very informative. My diabetes nurse always told me insulin was a fattening product! Pity I have it constantly pumped :(. Dry November hasn't seen the drastic weightloss I hoped for,I think even though I am seating fewer cals overall I an having more carbs. Well done on losing 4dress sizes Candystripe way to go girl, welcome newbies and here's hoping we have a good rest of the weekxx
grrr - on the no drinking and lack of weight loss - was bemoaning that this morning - feeling v grumpy about it!! Yet to watch olbeans vid - will do so tonight - good to see a familiar face:-).
Congratulations on your half pound loss - that's great! I'll take your advice for next week's weigh-in, and might have some prunes the night before or something.
I'll have to take a look at OlsBean's video - as you and Suzybenj have both spoken positively about it.
Wishing you a great week, and let's hope we all have a loss of weight next week.
