Hi dollycat,
If you've not already done so, then I would recommend you read through the NHSChoices live well lose weight pages - there's lots of good information there which is all free including a BMI calculator and a free 12 week plan.
Basically, I suppose this process is about changing your lifestyle insofar as that involves eating and exercise/activity If you get yourself into proper habits these will become the norm for you over a period of about 12/13 weeks or so.
Personally, I fairly significantly upped the exercise and basically chucked out all the 'naughties' from my food intake - fried food: fatty, creamy and sweet stuff; oversize portions, snacking on chocolate bars with a cup of tea; and things like that.
I started on January 11th and I'm now 9 kilos lighter than then. (And I haven't paid Weightwatchers or Slimmers World or Herbalife or anyone else a penny!)
But more than that I feel so very much better and fitter than I did.
My advice is not to just see it as a 'diet', but see it as taking control of your eating. Change the bad habits into good ones and you'll lose weight and keep it off, because those good habits will become the norm for you.
Lots of good advice and support from people on these blogs too, many of whom are doing pretty similarly.
Oh and if you have any medical conditions it's good advice to check with your GP or practice nurse if they might impinge upon your weight loss regime, or vice versa.
So, time to get on the weight-loss bus.
Good luck.
Hi, I too have done WW and SW and spent loads of money - lost a few pounds but always put it back on! Thought I'd try this 3 weeks ago and I am now finding it really easy - the first 10 days are hard as I was always hungry! I have now lost 5lbs, so it is slowly coming off and its been hard this week as its half term holiday!
I recommend you download 'Myfitnesspal' to your phone or laptop and record everything you eat (plus your exercise!) I think you will find it will help!
Good Luck with your 1st week
