Hi Pinkhearts and welcome.
An administrator will reply shortly with lots of useful information and an official welcome but in the meantime, you may get a good feel for the forum if you take some time to read the posts and replies from today.
Best of luck and keep in touch!
Well done for addressing the issue so quickly. When I retired, I had more than a year of over-eating before I decided enough was enough. That left me 4 stones to lose (not all of it put on in that year). Luckily, no work means less stress and more time to exercise. Good luck, I'm sure you'll be fine.
Having stopped work, you will have plenty of time for exercise...
Exercise can be fun... walking is good exercise, but cycling burns more calories... and the scenery changes more quickly!
I would not recommend running for overweight adults.
¿Have you retired early?
¿Are you able to exercise?
I think you need to plan to loose weight sustainably and maintainably...
I suggest that you try to avoid counting calories, and just cut out sweets, treats, snacks, puddings, cakes etc., and see how it goes...
I also gave up eating in the evening, having just an apple, orange and a banana for tea.
...and I gave up lunch two or three days a week... but keep an eye on the scales and see how it goes.
You could give yourself a treat when you have lost a bit, or when you are below your target weight (for the week)
Hello and welcome to the Weight Loss Forum Pinkhearts 😊

Take your time to read it carefully as it has lots of information.
Well done for tackling your weight gain before it becomes a bigger issue 👏. Do you know why you have gained weight? Is it less movement or more eating? Or a combination of both? Working out what needs to change is key to making the changes. Also, decide upon a way of eating that is sustainable long term, I prefer calorie counting but that isnt always the best way forward for every person. Whatever you decide, this forum has wonderful support and encouragement on your journey 😊

I’d have done other paid for plans but never got on well with them.At the moment it’s a combination of moving less where I was working a 70 hour week and no not and eating just for the sake of it -especially rubbish.Am hoping to go back to work after school holidays which will help but if I don’t do something positive now I will probably just keep growing outwards. It was just by chance I was looking for healthy ways to loose weight and get back in control 😀
hi there, sounds like you need a physical break to relax, re cooperate and hatch a plan for your future wellbeing. This is a good place to start, good luck. 😉 Fancy following each other?
Yes I think a buddy would be a good idea -may take me a while to get hang of using this site but first impressions are people are very surpotive x
Not retired yet just taking a break after a stressful job we’re I worked a lot and probably not eating often enough.I do have a sweet tooth and I know I eat too many sugary treats but am determined to get healthy x
It sounds as if you’ve had quite a stressful time, which can make us gain weight both as a result of increased eating as well as the stress.
Sugar can be an issue, it is quite addictive and causes changes in our eating hormones that make us want more . . .
Have a good look around, decide what changes you want to make, maybe wrote them down as this can make them seem more ‘real’ and one by one, tackle the habits you want to ditch 😊
I also highly recomend coming onto the forum regularly, daily if you can, reading posts and replying to others. Being part of a community is proven to help weight loss. Why not join our daily chat thread ‘What’s Happening Today?’
Best wishes
