Hi I'm a diabetic and find losing weight a real struggle , any other diabetics who can advise? I,m insulin dependant and need to lose 3stone
Hi Wheelo,
I think you probably need to get some specific advice from your GP or practice nurse.
Insulin levels and blood sugar levels are quite important factors in whether your body burns or stores fat.
You may also like to seek advice from other diabetics from a blog specific to that subject. I'm afraid I couldn't find one on Health Unlocked (which surprised me a tad), but I would have thought a quick web search would find you some.
Also, you may find diabetessupport.co.uk or similar sites helpful.
Hi Wheelo,
I have been diabetic for the last 21 years, insulin dependent and also taking tablets as well.
I had made up my mind to loose weight within the these 12-weeks. I am coming up to my 2nd week this Sunday.
Do go and calculate your BMI. at this page.

Click on the BMI tool for calculation and decide first.
I had decided to go for the mid point of the healthy weight.
I found myself on the top end of the scale of over weight.
I knew that if my food intake is going to be reduce I will automatically reduce my weight fast, there for I started eating healthy food, plus an eye on sugar reading. and cutting my insulin down. This helped me, use up my body fat. If the level drops I am ready to take in carbohydrate.
I am going to weigh myself on Sunday to find out if my weight has reduced by another 2Kgm.
All the best,
