Hello Everyone,

I've struggled with yo-yo dieting for years. I went through cancer treatment 10 years ago and I've found it hard to manage emotional eating with all the trauma attached to my treatment and also progression of my disease whilst on treatment. I'm thankfully in remission and I've managed to stay within a healthy weight range for about 5 years.

Slowly I've managed to put back on 9kg and I feel absolutely awful. Nothing fits and I feel frumpy and generally disappointed I've let myself get to this point.

I have a wedding coming up in February and I would love to be back down to my goal weight of 80kg by then. Im 6'1 so that's a healthy weight range for me.

I just need somewhere I have to be accountable for my numbers so it motivates me to have discipline. I do better when I know I've got to front up and put pen to paper.

Grateful for the support and I hope to join in the weekly weigh in if I can work out how. Thanks 🌸

Edit: current weight 89kg goal weight 80kg by 23rd February. 🤞

Thanks TheTabbyCat, I will keep an eye out for weekly weigh in's. Sounds just like what I need to give me a weekly goal to aim for. Looking for 5kg as a first goal. 🌸✅

Hi and welcome to the forum. The cancer diagnosis and treatment must have been a huge ordeal for you. In terms of where you’re at now, I don’t know if 9kg is realistic in 7 or 8 weeks, but I do know that if you get organised with a sensible plan, be it calorie counting, low carb or following a meal plan, and really engage with it you can lose a good deal of that, and probably drop a dress size ( or suit size -sorry, not sure of your gender) ready for the wedding and the Spring which follows. Perhaps take a photo of an outfit and make it the wallpaper on your phone or stick a pic on the fridge as an incentive. You will get plenty of supoort on here if you join in. Have a good weekend

Thanks Frenchdields. Unfortunately I know all too well how to lose the weight but for some reason when I get to my goal I self sabotage. I have no idea why I do this, I can see what's happening but it's like I override those thoughts and eat things I shouldn't when I'm stressed. We run a very busy business and there is a lot of stress around that part of my life so comfort eating is my downfall.

I always do better when I have a goal and have to be accountable. My goal today for example is to just eat my planned meals and not 'sneak' anything extra in. I know the method is simple it's just trying to stick to it! 🤨😣

Please take care when considering any extreme plans, such as drinking half your body weight in water (1 litre = around 2 1/4 lbs, or 1kg). Overhydration can be dangerous.

The half body weight of water is measured in ounces not pounds 🙂

I'm not sure I'm getting this. It reads as "half your body weight" so it looks like it doesn't matter what measurement you use, pounds, kg, ounces - it is still a dangerous amount of water, and if that isn't what it means it should be very clear. Is there a formula?

I don't know. It's not something I do. I just Googled it, and it said the water weight was measured in ounces. So if someone weighs 150 lbs, they'd have 75oz of water. But my own thoughts are that there's no formula for how much we should drink..

Exactly, I agree. We all tend to be perfectly hydrated unless we live in an area of drought. And thanks for clarifying the ounces bit because it's not how it was written 😂
