This is a similar idea to the Stoptober challenge; Because we always have a holiday in October I don’t tend to do Stoptober which I think was originally a bit like dry January. For me NO!vember is no alcohol, so a bit of a liver holiday 😀 plus, this year, cutting out the processed carbs that have crept into my diet of late, no cakes, no potatoes, no bread, no pastry etc - which do me absolutely no good at all. In addition I want to work a bit harder on my exercise ( no excuses) as my gym sessions have become more habit than hard work.
I don’t imagine I’ll post every day but if anyone else wants to join in whatever you are saying NO! to then I’m sure there will be support, and you’re very welcome.

We wish you the very best of luck with your challenge, Frenchfields and would like to let you know that Team Admin will be hosting a Countdown to Christmas Challenge from the 4th November until the 22nd December inc.
Ours will be about adding and/or subtracting on each of the 7 weeks it covers.
Thank you. Yesterday was a good day for me but I need to make an effort to plan my evening meals so its not a last minute thing. Hope your Monday was a good one too.
So managed 2 days of 'good-ness' and its not even November yet ( I thought it was 1st today but turns out thats Friday) Anyway, hope anyone joining is keeping up the no -thankyous.
I'm going to join you and keep my goals from the Stoptober challenge.
So, no potato chips (crisps) or cake slices from my favorite bakery. I'm down a little over 5 pounds from that so I want to continue. (I'm also afraid of the cravings returning if I start having them again!)
Well done. Our bakery cakes are so ridiculously sweet that I wouldn't enjoy them anyway. I sed to make low carb bakes but not really fussed about sweet things anymore. Yes, best not to trigger the cravings. Welcome aboard.
I love the idea of a November challenge. Since I am within 10 pounds of ideal weight now, I need to add new exercise and some strength training to help push me forward. In November I will get back to spinning...I will try at least one class near my new location in November. I will also sign up for weight training in November...so far my exercise has been walking and hiking.
Hi Sunnyskies33, well done for whittling down to your last 10 lbs. Welcome to our weight loss support community. The November challenge is just one of the many things that are available on this forum.
This is the link to our pinned posts where you will find everything that we have to offer, including our weekly weigh in,where we can give and receive support. The Daily Diary is where we can plan our meals and of course find some new, healthy ideas.
Hi Frenchfields, I've decided my November challenge will be 'NO EXCUSES to do toning exercises. I've been saying I want to start toning all year, and still haven't managed to get consistent with it 😳 I've found a "7 minutes for 7 days" tummy/core challenge on YouTube, which promises visible results in that time! So, I'll start with that tomorrow, and then review after the first week..
Excellent idea ( or should that be Egg-cellent), Dippy. I only found out how to find my core recently, I always thought it was about sucking my tummy in but apparently thats not right. This trainer said to brace my tummy muscles as though some was going to punch me in that region -totally different. Good luck with day 1 of 7. I’m off to the gym.
I'm sorry - I failed this challenge from the very first day 😔 I still haven't started toning either.I'll keep checking in on how you're doing though. You're doing brilliantly so far! 👏🎊🙆🏻♀️
Thank you, yes doing okay so far, I did fancy a glass of wine when we were on our way home from a an afternoon out ( that friday feeling) but time we’d stopped for groceries, sorted the dog, and had a cuppa I’m not fussed now.Hope you start your toning -I’m going to add some stretching on my non-gym days, but not till next week.
A good first week for me, no alcohol has passed my lips in spite of having a lovely fillet steak dinner last night. I noticed mr ff only had 1 glass of wine last night too. And have avoided potatoes, bread and anything with sugar added. Three decent gym sessions too.I have american style brunch to contend with tomorrow -so really hoping its not just a load of pastries and waffles ( which I hate anyway). And we normally have a yummy cooked full english on a Sunday so GRRR!🤣🤣.
Hope anyone joining has had a good week of no-ness too.
Sunday brunch at friends. Said no to walnut and banana bread, and drop scones and fizzy grape juice. Enjoyed the protien bits eggs bacon and kept me full till late afternoon. Hope you had a good day too.
Said no to a biscuit or 3 at my art group this afternoon-luckily it was biscuits ( which I don’t really like) and not cake. November is nearly a quarter over -and it gets easier as I go on. Not sure if anyone is still joining in, but if you’re out there - hope you’re doing well.
I will join you on the no highly processed foods. Last month I avoided added sugar, which overlaps, but I have had two social events this month I wanted to join in. I make our bread, so it's processed, but not much. I will avoid shop-made and unrefined food. It will be more challenging next week as I am visiting my mother. Will try hard, though.
You’re very welcome -yes, I had a social thing on Sunday, all homemade but a bit carby. No wine though -I had a cup of tea then fizzy water which the hostess kindly served in a pretty wine glass with a slice of lemon, so that felt more special than the tumbler I use at home. We have friends coming Friday for dinner, vegetarians so will need some carbs to fill them up but making veggie tagine as the main. Perhaps offer to do some of the cooking -Mum might enjoy some low-carb.Have a good day.
Bit of a wobble this weekend -after 3 very good weeks, I’ve had some alcohol, wine on friday night, probably 3 glasses,
a g&t and 2 glasses of wine last night. Had a bit of pastry in the form of 2 goat cheese tartlets, and a couple of rather nice ( dark) chocolates.
I have 2 more weeks of strictness so I will not have a drink tonight or going forward.
On the plus side I said no to a social event on Thursday this week which involves an extremely high carb buffet ( if last year is anything to go by) and beaujolais nouveau ( this years first beauljolais production). I prefer my red wine a bit more mature than 4 weeks 🤣🍷🍷.
I’ve als done all my planned gymsessions -no shirking!
Do join in for the lat 2 weeks of NO!vember, if you want to.
The end of my No!vember challenge today and I have definitely benefitted from what I did do. Feeling I have got my carbs under control, and generally feeling better and fitter. My jeans were a bit loose yesterday and I’m definitely a bit leaner round the midriff area. Will endeavour to keep to low/ healthy carbs ( avoid sugar bread potatoes rice) because I feel better for it. I did allow myself to get derailed somewhat in the last couple of weeks, some wine, meals out and this week I skipped the gym for no real reason other than disrupted routine.
I hope everyone had a good month and succeeeded in achieving at least one thing, diet related or otherwise.
