Hi guys I just wanted to find out an opinion, I need to have lots of iron rich foods I've bought some tender steam broccoli today from the co-op on special offer I didn't have a steamer so I had to boil them a little bit of water and then put a lid on top of the pot to get the Steam. I was wondering how much I ended I actually get from the florets look quite long they're about six inches long stems with quite a flowery head.

Hi, I have no idea about tenderstem brocolli but I have a tendency to anaemia and was told by my doctor some years ago that the best source of iron is from red meat and to make sure to eat dairy for calcium ( not supplements) and vitamin C rich fruit and vegetables every day as these help with the absorption of the iron. Its harder to absorb other forms of iron from supplements or vegetables . I have found this advice very useful and maintain adequate iron most of the time. Hope this helps -if you’re veggie or vegan maybe ask your doctor for advice.Maybe someone else can help with the brocolli question.
