Weighing scales

Hi all

I recently went to my Gp as I thought I would get help to start the weight loss programme. Slimming class, exercise class etc. You now have to have blood tests before you can referred. This has taken a month along with the difficulty of finding a scale that will weigh me. My Gp practice scale only goes up to 21 stone . Asda and boots do not have a scale any more and the only one I found weighed me incorrectly.. Any suggestions? I have joined a Sw class as this was the only way I could keep up my motivation, when I received the call from the Nhs telling me 4-6 months waiting list. With all the research into obesity and mental health I would have thought that an initial visit to get you started would be imperative.

Has anyone else found these difficulties ?

Rant over ....

Hi I was considering going to my GP to see if I could have a referral to join the leisure centre as I looked on my local one and it said loosing weight was one of the issues you could be referred for, I didn't know you had to have blood tests etc. I don't use scales in shops in fact I hadn't got any till I bought some when I joined the forum and they are salter ones off Amazon.

I did SW once and lost whilst I kept going but Christmas arrived and 2 weeks passed, I had put weight on and didn't go back. Anything that helps motivate you is good.

Sorry I can't be of any help but hope your doctor can help more A and you don't have to wait too long.

Best wishes Bev

Just had a look on Amazon and there are some on there that weigh over 30stone they are more expensive but at least there are some on the market.

Oh no :( when I was referred it was literally a case of walking into my doctors and going "please refer me" and they just did it. :/ I did this twice once in April 2015 and once in January 2016 and it was fine both times! Maybe it's changed or maybe it's different in different areas but it seems absolutely ridiculous :o

Well done for starting the ball rolling with your own initiative. I can understand the need to do blood tests in order to pick up any health problems before they refer you to suitable help. If you don't feel as if they are taking you seriously can you try seeing a different doc? In the meantime I'm sure you'll get loads of support and encouragement from the lovely peeps here! :-)
