GP advised me to cut down on saturated fats eg cheese and butter as my reading was 6.7 and should be 5 or less. I started drinking the drinks and using the spread. Then I read Ultra Processed People by Chris Van Tulleken and checked the ingredients. They are full of dodgy additives and don’t taste very nice either. I don’t want to continue with them. Has anyone any experience with taking plant stanols in pill form?

cholesterol lowering drinks and spreads are UPF.
Hi Xzbv and welcome to our weight loss community.
Personally I don't have any experience using plant stanols, in any form. Watch this space as I'm sure some of our members will be able to help.

Hi Xxbv, my husband had high cholesterol, better now as he eats a better diet but he used to have one benecol yogurt a day. I don't think the term UPF was a thing then but my point really is one item of UPF a day probably isn't a problem in the grand scheme of things -so its a matter of perspective. Also, a tv advert yesterday mentioned walnuts as containing plant stannols -you could to google the details of amounts etc. Hope that helps.
