Slimpod 1st week results and reflections

Finding_Fitness profile image
β€’25 Replies

First off, thanks for all the support I got last week when I posted about starting Slimod πŸ’– And for those who asked for updates: here's the first one πŸ˜€

PROS:

1) it's such a relief not to have to count calories, or points, syns, carbs, or whatever. Or to have to record what I've eaten and my mood/ level of hunger at the time... In just a few days I've stopped really thinking about food! 😯 However, it does feel very strange not counting or recording, which I'll deal with in the Cons.

2) Part of the programme is to write down at least 3 positives at the end of each day (however small they may be). This is an amazing part of the programme and I would encourage everyone to do it! The effect of consciously trying to list positives each day creates what I think of as an "infinity loop", whereby you feel more positive, and in turn, that positivity makes you subconsciously want to create more positive thoughts. . proper psychology in action 😁πŸ’ͺ

So, some of my positive changes over the past week, have been getting up earlier and going for a walk. And also taking better care of myself. For example, (after literally not bothering all this year), last week I had a leg wax, an eyebrow wax, and I also went to the hairdressers for the first time since last October. My previous-no-style hair is now a jaw-length ravishing red, graduated bob ☺️

3) Best of all, I'm enjoying my life again. Right here and now for a change, ie being happy and liking myself, is no longer in the future, and dependant upon not being obese! πŸ’ƒ

Cons: the only slight con is something I've already mentioned. Sometimes my conscious mind voices doubt or panic, because I'm not getting weighed every day, or following a set of food rules. I just remind myself that it will take time to change my habits. And to learn to trust myself to instinctively/ automatically make healthy choices most of the time as I used to years ago.

Thanks for reading πŸ“š 😁 If indeed you still are! And have a fabulous day πŸ’–

sounds like it’s going well, you sound very positive and as you say I’m sure the engrained habit of relying of the scale number will slowly disappear in the rear view mirror as you adjust. Thanks for the update x

Thank-you so much! 😊 I do feel better in myself and I'm more focused on my health, rather than the numbers. But still, I am really curious to see what I weigh after a week of not dieting. So I may have a lil sneak peek tomorrow..

What a lovely post Finding_Fitness,I wish I didn't go in the scales as much as I do .

It's so true about liking yourself ,I bet many of us on here can relate to that .

Good luck ,as you enjoy life everything else will fall into place.

Take care ,

Gary

Thanks everso much Gary! I think that's been the most powerful aspect of the programme so far: the genuine revelation that my happiness is NOT dependent upon my weight!! I always used to think: I'll feel better when... whereas now that seems so daft πŸ™ƒ

We have to be ourselves, too easy to let other things dictate how we feel. Here's hoping you have a lovely week ahead Finding_Fitness.

Hi Finding_Fitness I haven't been on here for a long time but the mention of Slimpod drew me in!I am on week 5 of Slimpod!!

For me the effects are amazing! I found very quickly that the cravings between meals went away. The revolution of "not being on a diet" and "I can eat what I want" undid years of wanting "bad" foods because of depriving myself from them when "being good". By about week 3 or 4 I no longer reach for my go to comfort cookie. In fact the last time I ate it (is big choc chip cookie thats about 400 calories!) I didn't even enjoy it much! By giving yourself permission to have it takes the power it has over you away!

I feel so much more positive and in control! Not to mention this is the longest I have stuck to anything in a long while!

But please please please be cautious about the scale! I see now how in past diets the scales has always derailed me! And when you think about it, how accuarte are they really? They dont measure fat loss. They measure weight - weight made up of fluid, muscle, food, air and fat, and all the rest. Things that fluctuate not just daily but hourly! Have you ever stood on it at 6am and got one result (yay I lost 2lbs) and then an hour later stood on again and its like oh no, now it says I lost nothing?

I did the "red ribbon" thing with Slimpod (measure with string or ribbon). I only did around my waist and thighs. But guess what! Last week on both had an inch loss! Out of curiousity I stood on the scales and it was UP a pound since I started!

In the past I would have felt demoralised and gone on a huge binge!

The scales are really bad! At least if you use daily or weekly. I would say try monthly or less to see true results? If you really need to! Slimpod has also made me reevaluate my goals. I want to get to a place where I am happy and comfortable with my body. And this doesnt have a number. If we set ourselves targets of "9 stones, size 10 and BMI of 25" these numbers may not be realistic and may not even be the real you! Someone who is 5ft 8 with this target and someone short like me 5ft 1 are going to look very different if both reached these numbers!

I dont know how Slimpod works... but for the first time IN MY LIFE I am eliminating sugar. It was my worst nightmare and something I always rebelled against. But with Slimpod helping tale away cravings its become a possibility to achieve!

Hope to see you around more! Very interested in your experiences with Slimpod!

Ohh thank-you so much for your insight! I really appreciate you taking the time! I know I was naughty getting weighed today but I was so darn curious! However, I've not posted it on the weigh in thread, and I won't be mentioning it to my loved ones, as I know really, it's a meaningless measurement. I'm definitely going to do the string test instead. Thanks for letting me know how valuable it is! πŸ’–

Thank-you Pickle12- 😊 You get a 10 day free trial and if you decide to carry on (which I am), you pay Β£30 for the next 30 days, and if you decide after that, it's not for you, they give you a full refund. So you can't lose really..Best of luck with whatever you decide πŸ€πŸ˜Š

thank you both. I have been struggling to get my head round another diet and had seen slimpod adverts but was a bit worried that I’d just be throwing more money away on another fad.

You are both inspiring πŸ˜€

I felt exactly the same! I've tried every diet going! But what swayed me to try Slimpod was the fact that it had been trialled in an NHS hospital and I'd seen the doctors and nurses sharing their results on the channel 4 programme 'How to Lose Weight Well' And also the fact that you can essentially trial it for 40 days for free πŸ™†πŸ»β€β™€οΈ

Keep us posted if you do try it! I know there's a private fb group for Slimpodders, but I don't have Facebook

I have been able to clear out all my bigger clothes to Freegle and have gone right off chocolate for snacks.

Hi there. Thanks for your reply. I am already familiar with the forum . While I am happy to encourage other members, I don't meal plan nor weigh myself as neither of these things have a place in my journey. I recently gave away my bathroom scales as I have a tape measure instead and a shrinking wardrobe.
