Maybe taking it day by day and not looking too far ahead. Remind yourself what you're aiming for, and of any past successes. Drop in here every day and get involved with other people's journeys
Thanks bridgegirl, I do remind myself but I get really frustrated because I was able to manage no that long ago and I feel powerless now... I want to do it and know how to do it 🤷♀️
One thought: try a different approach. Whatever you were doing before was obviously not sustainable...enough, or you'd still be doing it. So, if you were doing low fat, now try keto. If you were doing low carb, now try low calorie instead. Have you tried intermittent fasting? Something as simple as skipping breakfast and not eating a speck until lunch?
My point is, try something completely different and see if it works better for YOU.
Reading with interest. I've been trying to restart all this year, but with lots of other things going on in my life never managed more than 10days of restart before veering off track. Anyway, today I restart again. I know that if I start to eat better and lose a few kgs my energy and self-confidence will improve, which is what I need right now. Lost 5kg in the second half of 2019 ... now I need to lose 10kg to get back to that place. I have the tools, but not that I can use long term...
There's plenty of information and inspiration here, to help you find your long-term plan.
As a reminder, all of the information you need about the forum can be found in Pinned Posts healthunlocked.com/weight-l... and we hope you'll be joining all the Events, Challenges and Clubs that we run, especially the weigh-in and daily diary.
We've found active participation to be key to successful weight loss and, of course, it's a good way to get to know people, find inspiration and share support and encouragement.
Hi Racheller we've all been there! For me I find if I plan my meals in advance and log them I'm more likely to do it. It's a long term thing and you will fall off the wagon but don't let it define what you do next. If I'm going out I find it helpful to look at the menu online so I can decide at my leisure what I'm going to eat then I can plan other meals around it. Take care and good luck you can do it Kathy
Hi Kathleen10, I hope you'll be joining in with the Daily Diary as that's just what it's designed for and is a great place for new ideas. Also, Springers Specials. You'll find them, and all the other forum activities, by scrolling through here healthunlocked.com/weight-l...
Thank you Bridge Girl your links are helpful and I intend working through then over the next week. I haven't used the site much as I should but now I'm going to check in much more regularly to take advantage of the support and tips on offer.
When we go online and look at healthy eating behaviours, you’ll get a seven day plan of elaborate healthy eating meals or, which I hate most, an exercise program with six days of exercise and one day of rest. Who Are they kidding? There are very few of us you can go from no exercise to 6 exercise days a week or create a complete menu change, no wonder it makes us lack confidence. But we might be able to achieve a couple of days with a walk and maybe plan two days a week where we cook and eat healthy food. First, I don’t think there’s a date in our diary where all the days before were unhealthy habits and all the days afterwards show healthy habits , it is more a gradual process of sustainable change. I am not an expert, but I think change often starts with small achievable steps. Good luck, you’ve already taken the first step by talking this community.
Welcome to the forum and it's lovely to see you contributing. There's loads of unreasonable advice around, isn't it? We certainly need more down to earth approach. You put it really nicely, about it being a gradual process of sustainable change.
We hope to see you around and you may find it useful to join in with our Events, Challenges and Clubs.
I think you have already taken a first very important step in logging on to this forum. I returned last Monday, which is the 3rd time that I have joined in. The support is amazing, I am going to try so hard to stick around this time because logging on here and reporting a loss/gain every week helps to keep me focused. Good luck on your journey.
