Since 15th April 2021 I decided to change my life by changing my eating habits. I also found a job and I move more now albeit trivial and doesn't count as exercise. I started incorporating 20 minute brisk walks in my daily routine since a month ago too.
What can I say, it feels amazing. The amount of energy that I have not having to carry around the extra 58 pounds on my body is incredible too. No more out of breath, I can finally park far away and walk to my destination, without frustration if I don't find a near destination free parking zone.
I look better too and for the first time in 3 years, I am starting to get some attention from girls, which feels great too.
If I reach my goal in 6 more months (10lbs/month weight loss) that'll be great because at 180lbs I will be healthier than I ever was in the last 8 years! I expect weight loss to considerably slow down in the coming months, especially when I'm sub 200 lbs.
At 180lbs I will still be a little chubby/overweight because my ideal weight is more like 165lbs but once I'm at 180lbs I'm in no hurry to lose the extra 15lbs.
For the longest time I didn't think I could do it, I thought I didn't have the will and discipline to lose weight, but now I know. MyFitnessPal helped me a lot of course, logging and weighing everything I eat too.
Onto the second half!

Tips on what you ate / go to foods . I did similar and not just the weight loss but like you the health benefits . For me my self esteem rocketed . I changed jobs and bought clothes that I liked . My skin feels better and I didn't have any issues in lockdown with colds , coughs or that awful depressive feeling that I used to have . Need to get my sleep pattern on track mainly because I have more energy.
I started small, cutting out Mayo and replacing it with tomato ketchup. 1 Tablespoon of mayo is like 80 calories vs 20 calories tomato ketchup!
Then I started eating more vegetables, mainly broccoli and spinach! I love them. I also like Cauliflower.
I cut out the sugar in the tea completely. Replaced whole milk with skimmed milk (not semi).
Cut out the lasagna, fried food and whole pizzas. I still have pizza, just 150g (half pizza) some days. I also have like 5-6 chicken nuggets once a week, GRILLED.
When I have an Energy Drink, I try to find it sub 20 calories per 500ml can. Like the Monster Zero Sugar (15 Cals/500ml).
Also summer... summer brings ice-cream. I limit myself to 2 times a week, just 60g each time (100-120 cals) of plain vanilla ice-cream.
Snacks I have fruit now mostly. Either an apple (95 cals) or a banana (105 cals). Maximum snacks 2 per day.
It's all about self-control and portion. Those are from the top of my head, any more questions kindly ask
The table sauces is a brilliant one . I tend to drink fruit tea without sugar as cold in my 750ml water bottle it has a taste like cordial . I eat a lot of canned fish and find Lidl's cottage cheese less watery than most . My cupboard is full of herbs and spices . I have cut out red meat and like Greek yogurt with chopped fruit instead of buying fruit flavoured yogurt. Porridge made with water is still go to breakfast . I maintain an 18kg weight loss and range around the 62-64 kg mark which at 5ft 1 isn't crazy slim but at my age -61 I feel my skin is better if I am at this weight . I enjoy Zumba and walking usually doing a decent 8-10 miles with little effort which I found crazy hard before weight loss. Like you - bring on the veg and a colourful salad.
