Last Monday I weighed 13 stone 6.2 pounds, and today I weigh 13 stone 5.2 pounds, so I've lost 1 pound this week. I'm pleased to see a loss on the scales and I kept up my exercise, and also made sensible food choices. I hope to do the same this week, so that I can lose at least a pound next week. I'm re-setting my intermediate goal, so I hope to try to be below 13 stone by Christmas, and then I hope to lose my final 7 pounds in the New Year. My ultimate aim is to be 12 stone 7 pounds, but I don't think I'll be able to make that by Christmas, so feel it's better to choose a goal that feels more achievable, and being in the 12's would be amazing!

I have now completed the 12 week plan. This week I lost 0.4 kg weighing in at 56 kg. ( 1kg under my goal) My long term plan is to stay between 55kg and 57 kg. So I am very happy!
Over the 12 weeks I have lost 7.7kg (18lbs) and have gone from an unhealthy bmi to a healthy bmi of 23.3.
I want to continue weighing in weekly as I am determined never to Yoyo again. My weight has always previously gone up and down . I have lost a stone/ stone and a half multiple times but this time I want to be different.
I love this thread but wonder if we should start a parallel one for those maintaining. I would love to be able to run it but I work full time and wouldn't be able to comment on each entry like you fab5 do. Thoughts please!
All the best. I value every contributor to this forum. So much inspiration, encouragement and support here!
So many things to Congratulation you on - fantastic progress, and well done for losing 0.4 kg this week - not only have you attained your goal, you're 1 kg under it, and achieving an 18 pound loss in 12 weeks is really fantastic. Congratulations on being in the healthy BMI - and good luck with your goal to maintain. You've chosen a good maintainance 'window' and that's a sensible approach.
Regarding your comments about a parallel weigh-in thread for maintainers - it's a good idea, but it does take a while for a thread to gather momentum - this one has been running almost 3 years now - and I'd like to think it also encourages people who are at maintenance to join in. In many ways, I feel like I've been 'maintaining' my loss of 5 stone 2.8 pounds for much of the time I've been running the thread, and that I'm trying to lose my remaining pounds to reach my 'ideal' weight.
We always include within the stats the number of people who have maintained their weight, and we always see that as a positive - as to maintain is better than to gain - but some people are actively wanting to maintain, and not lose further weight. Hence, it hopefully already acts as a good vehicle for those people who are losing weight, as well as those people maintaining it.
However, I would never discourage any new threads starting up, so if there are people who would like to start such a thread, alongside you, I'm sure they will get together and form such a thread, and that would be great too.
But I do want to say, that this Monday Group Thread are happy for anyone who is 'maintaining' to be part of our thread too - it's an inclusive thread in my opinion.
Hope those comments are helpful to you, and if a specific maintainance thread is started, then I wish it all the very best success.
But you are also very welcome to stay with us in this thread! So whatever you choose to do, I congratulate your success, and wish you ongoing success on the forum. I'll continue to support you, wherever you post, in anycase.
Sorry for the long-winded reply, but you invited comments.
I love this thread but recognise how much work it is. Also it is huge. Part of my thinking is that it would also make this thread more manageable for the fab5. I am not trying to poach your members but just wondered if it would be helpful. Let's see what others think!. Thanks for your welcome and continuing support.
Hi 2bFabnfit that's excellent it must feel so good to get where you want to be, I've yoyod up and down the same 2 stone for many years but never got rid of the initial one gained after first baby (he's 25 now lol) I agree it's probably vital to have support for maintaing at least for the first few months, well done you! ☀️
morning fab great that you have had such a positive result from the 12 week plan, I am a maintainer but I just pop in here and post every week, I do seemed to have gained a bit recently but I am comfortable with that.as I am lifting heavier weights now and concentrating on toning whats left have a great week
Well done 2bFabnfit, what a fantastic achievement! Another inspirational story
My thoughts on the separate thread for maintainers are that I would miss you all here. I love the fact that we have such great role models who show us that not only is it possible to lose the weight in the first place, but more importantly, that it's possible to maintain it. As I have so much weight to lose, I won't be eligible to join the elite for years and I need you all here by my side, showing me the way
Hi Fab'nfit - Congratulations on a completely fantastic result. You did great.
Maintaining a good weight particularly if you have a yoyo history definitely needs the kind of support that this site gives: information, shared experience, sympathy, advice and role models. However on this weekly thread I really rely on the maintainers to tell me once a week that it is doable. I'd miss you terribly on this wonderful thread.
Hi Lowcal and the other Fab Four, well done Lowcal for the lb off nice to see it going in the right direction, and very sensible to adjust goals to be achievable. Oh dear well I'm 1.25 lb heavier this morning, but fully aware of why, ate out a record 5 times this week which is probably what I'd normally do in about 6 months! No desserts as I really don't fancy them now, but no calorie counting either, and last nights food was very salty (halloumi and olives) which won't have helped. Still ive had a fantastic week and have also done a lot of walking, and no more celebrations now till my sons 21st mid December so planning to knuckle down and see what I can lose over the next few weeks! Good luck everyone ☀️
Eating out is so difficult especially when everyone else is eating whatever they want and the portion sizes are way off ! I ate out 3x last week and to be honest I am not sure how I still lost weight.
Sounds like you've had an enjoyable week, with celebrations and eating out a record 5 times - I think you've done amazingly well not to put on more weight - 1.25 pound is a small amount in the scale of things! Like you say, you don't have any more celebrations till mid December (your son's 21st), so you can hopefully stick with your plan to knuckle down and see what you can lose in the next few weeks.
Bannanacake not even suzi goes out that much! walking will have helped too 1.25 is less than the amount I have put on in a weeks holiday(dh birthday as well) so well done on that, Exciting your son is growing up what do you have planned ? It can be a bit annoying having birthdays in December I like you have a son - but early December - still we are the ones to blame!
Hi Prin, well he is a very lovable geek and the new Star Wars film comes out on midnight on his birthday so he will be sleeping during the day then going to a midnight show with his brother and friends! (Too late for me lol) so probably a meal out in the evening too☀️
Last week 13.5 this week 13.3 so a 2 pound loss going to start trying to run this week and each week I'm feeling more and more positive on this way of dieting hope every1 else does alright this week x
Congratulations to you for losing 2 pounds this week, that is really great!!!
Brilliant that you are going to start trying to run this week - and also that you're feeling more and more positive. That all sounds really good, and I hope you enjoy your first run. I hope the weather is kind to you!
Congratulations Lowcal, you got those scales to move downwards at last and how wonderful that must feel. The motivation you need seeing positive results.
Hope your continued exercise and good food choices take you even lower next week. You CAN do it.
A disastrous week for me. I gained 4lbs and it's not going to improve this week either! Must really try to remember those words "Eat sensibly" & "good food choices'!!! Also no gym or trainer sessions which has taken its toll.
Next week perhaps not to gain as much!
Won't be around next week so two weeks to try harder.
Yes, it does feel good to have finally got those scales to move a bit. It does feel motivating to see positive results. Thanks for your encouragement, it is also very motivating!
I challenge your description of your week as disastrous. I know that you had lots to celebrate this past week, and therefore I think it is understandable that you gained some weight in those circumstances. Your mantra for this week, of 'eat sensibly' and 'good food choices' should hopefully help you get back to it again. Also, the fact you didn't do your usual gym sessions or trainer sessions is also a significant change, so you can see how much all those things help you.
You've got two weeks, and so good luck with your goal to try harder. I'm sure you will succeed.
Life is for living...just get back on the wagon and keep on keepin on...you know how to lose that 4lb so I'm sure it will be gone in no time, no worries! I put on weight last week and I hadn't done anything "wrong", which is hugely frustrating, but I just kept on going and this week I'm down 3lb. Life throws curveballs sometimes, just keep on the same positive path and it will all even itself out in the end. Chin up, onwards and downwards!
Have you thought about walking more when you can't get to the gym? I have a Fitbit which records my steps and works out the kms. It's brilliant. And there is 'kicking the kms to the dust' group on a Monday which you are very welcome to join 😊😃
Morning Lowcal and the gang well done on your pound loss! I am weighing in at 11.3 up 2lbs but I am halfway into my holiday so I guess that's what happens if you drink wine nearly every day! I am off this week too so i guess there will be another pound or two this week i will try my best to minimize the damage, fingers crossed the site behaves this week I am on my netbook rather than my ipad. have a good week all
Hope you're enjoying your holiday so far. Being on holiday, and drinking wine nearly every day, are both recipes for a little weight gain, but at least you're only 2 pounds up. You are aiming to minimise the damage - so good luck with that goal. Very sensible, as you want to enjoy your holiday.
I know you had difficulty getting on the site last week, so hope your netbook helps you stay connected today.
I say, enjoy your holiday and then just get back on track when the holiday is over. If you are working hard at losing/maintaining, then you deserve a little indulgence. Just re-focus at the end of the holiday. I'm going away for a few days next Monday and I'm expecting to put weight on, I plan to enjoy the holiday and then come home and get back to work, so to speak. Enjoy the rest of your hols, take care.
Well a 2lb weight gain after a four night holiday! Not surprising really, although I drank less wine than usual and didn't eat crisps........there is always a lot of cheese around when my sister buys the food.
Hope to loose it next week, back on myfitness pal calorie counting....I weigh 10stone and would love to be 9 stone 4 .......
I know you were away on your holiday, and I remember you talking about how your sister buying lots of cheese - so I think you did well to only gain 2 pounds in the circumstances! I hope you enjoyed your holiday, and had a lovely time.
Good luck with losing it this week, and being back on myfitnesspal should help - hopefully you'll be back in the 9's, all being well, next week.
Morning everyone! Last Monday I weighed 12 stone 3 today I weigh 12 stone 1. I haven't stuck to the plan this weekend so am glad to have still lost 2 pounds. Hoping to get into the 11's for next Mondays weigh in
Good morning! Congratulations to you for losing 2 pounds this week, that is excellent. I know you didn't stick to the plan over the weekend, and I have to say that weekends are usually challenging times for quite a few people (myself included).
You're getting close to the 11's, so wishing you a great week ahead, and all being well, you'll be celebrating achieving your goal to get into the 11's for next Monday's weigh-in.
I love it when you jump numbers, stones or kilos, it feels that bit extra special like when you change clothes sizes, here's hoping next week you will be the Reason?,!
Well done Lowcal I'm happy about your 1lb loss and your goal of 13st by the end of the year seems achievable!! It's so good to see the scales go down!!
Well, after a mid-week which was worrying and a weekend that was more positive, I now weigh 84 so only a 0.2kg loss. 200 grams only!!!! That really isn't much especially a two days ago I was weighing in at 83.7kg and I've been very good since...! Oh never mind at least it does go down...
Yesterday I finished week 6 run 3 which I found so hard (25min running with no interruption, which I had never done before!). During the week I also went swimming, cycling and at the gym. It's my most active week ever, I'm pleased about that, just wish I would have seen a better result today :(. I have been 7 weeks onto the plan and this brings my loss to exactly 5kg, which is very nice.
I notice that you're minimising your weight-loss by saying 'only', and that you repeated that word twice to emphasise it, but I would say that it is great that you've lost 0.2kg - a 200 gram loss is still a good loss - just weight out 200g of sugar or flour on a scale, and you'll see it's a good loss. Also, weight does tend to fluctuate throughout the week - I know this, as I tend to weigh daily.
Well done for finishing your week 6 run 3 - 25 minutes of running with no interruption is definitely tiring! Well done! I know you found it hard, but you did it, and all credit to you for achieving that!
Wow, you've lost 5 kg over 7 weeks, you're making excellent progress. Really good!
Thank you so much and congrats on your loss of 3lb for this week! This is such good progress!! (btw tonight I lit a candle again. Just because! Felt really nice again!)
Well not as impressive as some others round here!! But yes I'm happy and the improvement in my self confidence and general health and fitness is just amazing I am so grateful for this and the support I am getting here! 301 replies already wow I kind of hesitated before writing this as I'm concerned we'll break the site! Thanks again Lizzy
Hi Everyone hope you are all doing well. Thank you the fab five for all your hard work and well done Lowcal for your loss.
I managed 0.5lbs this week, not to disappointed as I ate out twice this week and also had a stressful week which made me cheat a bit! Lost 19lbs in total so far. Now weigh 12st 9.5 lbs. 3 weeks to go to finish the 12weeks, but will need to carry on after as I still have a lot to lose.
Congratulations to you for losing 0.5 pound this week. Sorry to hear you had a stressful week - that can definitely be challenging, and at least it only made you cheat 'a bit' - fantastic to hear you've lost 19 pounds in total so far, you are doing so well.
You're into 'single figures' in the 12's - i.e. below 12 stone 10 pounds and counting down on the way to the 11's. (Hope that makes sense)...
Congrats on your 1lb loss Lowcal, you do have to work extremely hard for each and every loss, so I take my hat off to you for your sheer grit and determination
This week is very different to last week for me, no excitement, just dread. Unfortunately I have to report a weight gain of 1.375lbs. I wish I could explain it by admitting to a blowout at some time during the week, but I can't. I can honestly say that I've stuck to plan and even upped my walking, but hey ho, I guess that's the way it goes. I can't even turn to inch loss for comfort, because my waist measurement is up by 2"! Yikes!
I suspect the reason for it, is my body coming to terms with all the changes and last week's rather large loss. I shall keep plugging away and am sure that in a couple of weeks, this will just be a tiny blip
Best of luck to everyone for your weigh ins and here's to a great week ahead
Hi moreless - sorry to hear that you are a bit disappointed this week - but you sound like you have stayed nice and positive and not let it derail you I'm sure it will have all disappeared by next week !
I know how you feel - it's really tough when you've worked hard and haven't seen the results that you want. Trying to stay motivated is such a battle - but keep at it and well done for getting that perspective back
Firstly, well done to you for sticking with the plan and also upping your walking too - I know that you've got an unexplainable 1.375 pounds loss, but sometimes that literally happens - it can be down to other factors like hormones, water retention, bowel movements, all sort of things! I know you were also surprised by the 2 inch increase on your waist measurement.
You lost 4.625 pounds last week, so I think you're right that this week's gain is down to a bit of stabilising of the weight and adjusting - definitely keep doing what you're doing, and I agree with you that this is a very tiny blip.
It's the overall trend that counts! And you're trending onwards and downwards overall, so Congratulation yourself for that!
Chin up, keep going, think of the long term picture...last week I had the same scenario, I'd done nothing "wrong" but went up 1 1/2 pounds. This week I lost 3 pounds doing exactly the same thing as I did the week before - makes no sense at all! Stick with it, think 3 months down the line if you keep at it, how much of a difference it will have made. This is a minor blip, I'm sure it will balance itself up, keep on keepin on!
Hi moreless, your attitude sounds really constructive, I think you're right that you're body's just adjusting a bit - you did lose a lot last week - so it's not too unexpected that this week would maybe show a more stalled rate of loss. It's frustrating but it will definitely seem like a little blip once you're further down the line. I had weeks where I went up or stayed the same, and felt really down about it despite reminding myself about the bigger picture etc. But you've basically just got to keep on keeping on. Next week's weigh in will surely show you something more rewarding! Just be patient and stick like glue to everything you're doing

By the way, you mentioned no consolation from inch loss - other things I got consolation from which you may be able to find out too: my blood pressure reduced - you can get this checked by a nurse at your surgery. I also got my asthma breathing etc checked and that improved a lot, probably as a result of c25k. My skin and hair also started looking better - I think my hair is thicker even. But the blood pressure thing was the biggest shock for me - that happened very early on when I'd only lost my first few lbs even, worth getting it checked, esp if you have a previous one recorded at your surgery to compare it to
Thanks Ruth, what a great idea about the BP. What could possibly be more important than our health?
I don't have asthma, but I still sound like a steam train when I'm walking. I can't wait for that to improve, because it's a little embarrassing having to hold my breath when I pass people, especially if they speak to me
I only got all my measurements redone because every so often my inhaler prescription won't automatically renew unless I get a check in with a nurse - their way of monitoring you I guess. The nurse I saw was very thorough, and congratulated me on massively improving my breathing - I said I'd started running, had lost some weight, she then checked my blood pressure and it wasn't just back to healthy but actually low. I've noticed others on here report similar effects, like lowered cholesterol etc too. There are so many ways to see how our bodies benefit from losing even just a bit of weight, and just making those first steps to become fitter. Not just the pesky box of springs as Dave1961 would say
I've just experienced a very strange phenomenon, I knew you'd posted this reply, because for once my reminder thingy worked and I could see it on the news feed, but every time I came onto the thread, your reply had vanished! Spooky!
I must get my cholesterol checked too. I'd be thrilled if I'd managed to get these 2 things back to normal.
Yeah, I'm not friends with my pesky box of springs at the mo
My notifications didn't even tell me you'd replied - what's going on with them! But I've found this now, as I'm going through the thread working out the stats for Mon Hope the box of springs is more cooperative on Monday, and let us know if you found out any good news about BP etc
My notifications rarely tell me anything other than the number I've got and it can be quite stressful knowing you've got 30 odd, but don't know where or with whom
I need to make an apt with the nurse, but will keep you posted.
I think you might be out waking your dog now, but when you get back and when you read this reply, I hope you're not feeling too disappointed by your 2 pound gain. Great to hear you're 'not giving up' - keeping a positive mind-frame on those weeks when you experience a gain is half the battle, and hopefully you might know where the 2 pounds have come from - and be able to adjust this week accordingly. But at the same time, sometimes we can gain on the scales, even if we stick to things rigidly - it's not an exact science by any means - there are so many complex factors at play.
But keep going, and you've still got 5 weeks to go till your holiday, and you've still got time to achieve your goal.
Think of it as a minor blip...I've had 2 blips even tho I stuck with it and did the same thing, and I'm only at the end of week 7. Overall result after 7 weeks is a 1 stone 2 loss tho...always think of the long term picture and keep going, you can do it!
Wow, what a fanstastic start - Congratulations! That must feel really good!
Hope you enjoyed the week. Your weight loss will most likely reduce as the weeks progress, as the first week or two is the time when larger weight loss can often happen (due to losing some water weight).
Well done lowcal on the 1lb loss, it's a healthy rate and it sounds like you're not far from your goal..you can definitely get that last stone off by next year!
I am not sure if I have lost weight, the scales have been playing with me for weeks. Last week I hit 15 stone 0.6lbs and now I am 14 stone 8.3lbs so I have lost 6.3lbs? which seems unlikely.
Perhaps the 15 stones was water weight - so I think I will not log a loss this week and just take 14 stone 8.3lbs as my starting point
I am feeling positive and listening to the cut the fat podcast has actually helped, lots of information available there.
I will continue what I am doing this week and work on my calorie intake as I struggle to get enough when I am being healthy.
Sorry to hear you've been having problems with the accuracy of your scales. I remember that last week you mentioned the same thing, and you said your scales had varied between 14 stone 9 pounds and just over 15 stone. It sounds like you've had a loss this week, in anycase, but of course the amount is difficult to assess, so I'm sure Ruth will make a note of your new starting weight of 14 stone 8.3 pounds (when she's doing the weekly stats), and you can go from there! Water weight can definitely be quite heavy. Great that you're in the 14's - Congratulations!!!
Great that you're enjoying the 'cut the fat' podcast. I admit I've not listened to it, so I must try to do so.
Your meals sound delicious, and I like the sound of your lunch especially! Sounds really yummy!
First week on 12 week plan. First two days were a disaster - binged in the evening - but thanks to some great support from this group I got back on the wagon. Result 2kg weight loss in week 1. Yeahhh!!! That will keep me focused for week 2 ☺
A very warm welcome to you, and thanks for joining us for this Monday weigh-in. Great to hear you've completed your first week on the 12 week plan. Fantastic to hear you have lost 2kg, that is a great start. So glad to hear that the forum helped you to get back on the wagon after the first couple of days. It shows how challenging it can be, but the great thing is that you coped and got through the week, and you're feeling good!
Wishing you a focused second week, and will look forward to catching up with you again at next week's weigh-in, and around and about in the forum inbetween.
Congratulations on that loss Lowcal - you must be pleased to see the scales going in the right direction ! Your targets sound very sensible and I'm sure you will get that first one by Christmas !
I've had a hectic week with work and bits and pieces, but have managed to get my walking and running back above my target, so I was a bit cross to see the scales starting to move up and down everyday again, like happened a few weeks ago. I've lost 1 lb, but have decided that I must go through some kind of monthly water retention thing around this time !! Anyway, I am not letting it frustrate me too much as I can really see the difference in my clothes (despite shrinking my jeans in the tumble dryer !) - especially my waist I just wish I could lose some more cms around the bust area as I feel like beginning to look like a slightly overweight Barbie doll with odd proportions !
Well done for losing the pound despite the water retention and for the obvious loss of inches, albeit not off the bust, but I'm sure your OH is more than happy with his Barbie doll
I'm wondering if I could squeeze into the tumble dryer................
You two are so bonkers, you give me face-ache from grinning so much. Please can I have the exalted position of no.1 fan of the Moreless and Lucca double act? Will be first in queue if tickets ever go on sale
Don't worry Ruth, you'll definitely be the first of our fans to know if we ever decide to go professional. However, it'll depend on the men in white coats letting us out to play
Ooh, ooh, can I be Eric and do the face slapping? You can be the one with the short fat hairy legs!

Forgot to say (in order to cheer myself up a bit) - starting week 11 and I have lost a total of 20.8lbs which gets me above the 20lb figure - Yippee !!
Thanks Gonti - I'm putting a lot of effort in, determined not to lose my mojo this time (as has happened on numerous occasions in the past !) I think that it's slowing down a bit now though...
• in reply to
Way to go lucca10 .................................... 20.8 lb is a huge achievement.
• in reply to
Thanks Tewson - I'm sure you will have loads of success as well - it's the support of everyone here that is so great
• in reply to
Great result. Always good to look at culminative loss rather than on a weekly basis 😃😃
• in reply to
Thanks Lizzy I do have to remind myself of that sometimes when the scales aren't smiling !
• in reply to
Amazing loss in 10 weeks - shows how hard you've been working! Next goal making it a round 2 stone?
• in reply to
Definitely Ruth - that will also take me to within 2lbs of a healthy BMI as well ! However, I've got my short holiday to get through first
You made me laugh with your image of the slightly overweight Barbie doll with odd proportions - I doubt that image is representative of you! Congratulations on losing 1 pound this week. That is great, especially as you mentioned that you think it's likely that you go through some kind of monthly water retention thing around this time.
Sorry to hear you shrank your jeans in the tumble dryer. The same thing happened to me with my new jeans, and I was not happy...!
Congratulations too on losing 20.8 pounds in total - that is phenomenal, and very inspiring to hear. Well done also on achieving and improving on your walking and running targets.
Thanks Lowcal The jeans were very annoying as I've been trying to struggle on with this one pair (and I wear my jeans everyday - hence trying to get a quick turnaround on the washing/drying) 'til I hopefully can get into the next size down. I didn't want to go and buy a new pair for what might (hopefully) only be a few more weeks. By ironing them flat a lot, and doing lots of squats by wearing them, I think I've just about managed to get them almost back to normal - if not slightly short !!
• in reply to
Hi Lucca,
Great result, and when clothes are getting lose than fantastic 💋
I know what you mean about shape I've always been busty and even as the weigh is coming off and I'm in much smaller clothes my boobs have not shifted much just my back size !!!
Just think, some people pay for boobs and I'm sure you are Gorgous anyway xx
Have a great week
😇
• in reply to
Funny that isn't it ! I would give anything to have small boobs !! Have a fab week yourself
Of course - you have reminded me that doing a bit more upper body strength work would probably help (I remember a gym bunny telling me that once) - thanks Prin (But yes, will probably still need the decent bra !!!)
1lb down since last week. Not too bad Now 17st 7lb. The OH thinks I have not been eating enough so has advised I up my intake to just over 1400, I have been eating under 1400. So giving that ago this week, see how it goes if not back to the original plan. I did give myself a day off yesterday, but ironically I didn't eat too bad.
Did my 3 runs last week, and oh my god the one I did on Friday was a nightmare! Not sure I am ready to move on to week 4 just yet! The idea of 5 minute runs!!
Looking forward to see what this week brings. Well done to all those you have started or lost this week
Have you checked your recommended calorie intake on the BMI calculator, because I'm guessing your OH is right and that you should probably be eating about 1600 calories.
You know Im sure I did look this up before. But cannot remember. Just re did it and its saying I need to eat between 1800-2315 Kcal a day. The 2315 seems very high to me so will aim for 1800 I think.
I know you just joined our group last week, and that you had a cold at the time, so I hope that you are feeling better now. Congratulations on losing 1 pound this week, that is really great.
Moreless has given you excellent advice to re-check your calorie recommendation on the BMI calculator, and it's great that you'll be trying having 1800 calories this week - hopefully that will be effective, and you'll enjoy your week more as a result.
Well done for doing those 3 runs last week. Sounds like Friday's run was certainly challenging, but you did it! So really well done.
Thank you Lowcal! Yes cold all gone now thankfully! Next run is tomrrow, going to give the week 4 day 1 a go, if its to difficult going to redo week 3 again. I dont see the harm in that.
Feeling much more posative about this week, and the OH is happy haha
Hi Everyone
Congrats Lowcal on 1lb lost and love your medium term goals - all achievable
Wow, Congratulations to you for getting into the 15's - and losing 2.4 pounds this week, plus achieving a total weight loss of 9.2 pounds in 5 weeks, that is fantastic!!!! Drum rolls back at you!!!!
Really inspiring progress, and hope you have another great week ahead.

Wow - so amazing! All those kms are having the desired effect, no more 16s on the scales, you'll be so happy seeing that 15 every time you weigh now, til you start getting impatient about reaching the 14s that is!
Hi Lowcal, good morning everyone!
Week 4
12st 1 last week. The same this week.
Total lost so far: 7 1/2 lbs.
Aiming to lose about 2st and started at 12st 8 1/2. So a good start, but plenty to go yet!
It all feels a bit heavy going this morning now that I've had to record the same weight as last week, but it's been a good week generally and I've only gone off plan when I've been eating out and have had to choose something from the menu rather blind to the calories - and then have made healthy choices. So I think I should shave off a bit more next week!
Still ought to make a bit more effort with some exercise! Off to confess all to the kicking the kilometers thread now....
Congratulations for maintaining your weight this week. I know it's the first time you've maintained, as you've lost consistently so far, and achieved a total loss of 7.5 pounds in 4 weeks. It's definitely a positive to maintain weight loss, so those weeks when that does happen should (in my book) by Congratulated. I think I said earlier in the post that maintaining is better than gaining.
Well done also for coping with those time when you've eaten out, and had to make choices from the menu - you've made a good point about the fact we're often 'blind' to the calories in those circumstances, and it takes a period of time to recognise the healthier choices, and then can be challenging to actually choose those, as opposed to some of the unhealthy choices that can abound in some restaurant settings.
Great that you're focusing on your exercise goals too.
Good luck with everything, and wishing you another great week ahead.
Lowcal
Good morning Lowcal and congrats on your 1lb loss. I've stayed the same this week at 10st4 which I'm very happy with as I'm within my maintaining range. Just heading out for a run but will be back soon. Happy Monday everyone
Hi Lowcal, just popping in briefly before heading to work Thanks I did enjoy my run, feels good to start the week like that. Hope you feel your week has also got off to a great start. Catch up later

Well done Ruth 😊😊

Hey - well done for maintaining again You had a bit of a stressful week so you've done really well ! Congratulations !!
Congratulations to you for losing 2 pounds this week. Wow, you're in the 9's, that is fantastic!!!! Particularly exciting to hear you're only 1 pound from being in the healthy BMI. Really well done!
It's great to hear how you're doing in relation to your Christmas goal as well - 5 pounds away from a stone off for Christmas is very achievable. You've set a great goal.
Wishing you another great week ahead.
Lowcal
Over the last week I have lost just 1 lb and am down to 293.5 lb. My waist measurement has reduced by just under half an inch.
A little disappointing as over the previous six weeks I've been averaging 4 lb a week. I suppose my expectations were a little high and sustaining a 4 lb a week loss is unrealistic. I'm pleased that my waist size is continuing to reduce at a reasonable rate and so am encouraged.
Well, I'm off out shopping today, as on more than one occasion I have resorted to some chunky cheese sandwiches as a quick snack, so I shall be looking at some more healthy alternatives.
Congratulations on losing 1 pound this week, and also great to hear your waist measurement has reduced by just under half an inch. I know you mentioned that you are a little disappointed that you haven't kept up the 4 pound average weight loss you've managed for the previous six weeks, but I think it was amazing that you managed that weight loss rate for that period of time. Weight loss does usually reduce to about 1 to 2 pounds a week on average - rather than staying at the original higher levels that are sometimes seen in the first 1 or 2 weeks. You're getting closer to the 100's, and I know that last week you lost 5.25 pounds, so that was an above average week for you!
I know you're off shopping later and that you're looking for some healthy alternative snacks. Hope you find some delicious things, and hope you have another great week ahead.
SNAP!!! I've lost 1 lb too, to be honest I'm not quite sure how as the girls weekend away wasn't quite as productive on the walking/swimming points as I planned and definately too many liquid calories consumed but hey I'm not complaining. I've got 4.5 lb to lose now to get to my first stone which I hope to lose by Christmas for my holiday but I want to challenge myself a little more and hope to lose that by my birthday at the end of November. The 4 day break has also played havoc with my kettlebell challenge and I am now behind where I should be. I think to be realisitic I will have to extend the finish date to 5 weeks rather than hoping to achieve 10000 in October which will be a bit too much of a mountain to climb from here. This weeks target is to lose 1.5 lb which will take me to the lowest weight since I started on here and get the kettlebell challenge back on track. Have a great week everyone.
Thank you moreless, when I first tried the kettlebell I thought exactly the same as you but I was quite surprised how quickly I was able to increase the exercises. I have fallen behind now but am hoping to have a good week of catching up this week. I don't think I have ever been used for inspiration before it's really flattering, thank you. Have a great week.
Hi mrsg - glad you had a good time away, and that's amazing you managed the 1lb loss despite all that ! Regarding the kettlebells - you can rest assured that even if you don't quite get that target in your original planned time, it will still be 10,000 more 'swings' that I guess the majority of us here will have done
Thank you for your kind words, to be honest I'm amazed but obviously delighted to have lost 1lb. Determined to get back on track with the kettlebells tonight before pilates then I feel like I've started the week off on the right foot. Have a good week.
Fantastic to hear you've lost 1 pound too, Congratulatons!!! Hope you enjoyed your Girls Weekend away - sounds like you did. Really good!
Great to hear you've got a good Christmas goal - all being well you'll lose that 4.5 pound and get to your first stone for Christmas, in time for your holiday. Most likely you'll achieve it by your Birthday at the end of November - it can be good to challenge yourself more sometimes. So good luck!
Your Kettlebell Challenge has definitely been inspiring to many people - I completely agree with Moreless. I've ended up combining some kettlebell swings with my strength exercises (inspired by Ruth's Strength challenge) and it makes a great combination - almost like a circuit training kind of session.
I'm sure you'll be back on track with your kettlebell challenge very soon, and wishing you another great week ahead.
I'm back on the kettlebell swings tonight before my pilates class, at least it feels like I'm starting the week off on the right track. Have a good week.
Hey - you did well - you weren't expecting a loss as I recall, or at least not expecting to be able to stick to your plans. So, to come out of the weekend away with a 1lb loss and getting straight back onto the kettlebell challenge is ace. By the way - I thought you were always aiming for 5 weeks rather than a month? However long it takes it'll still be an epic achievement. It's certainly stuck in my memory - and have started doing a little bit of weight lifting myself - 25 lifts of 2x 1.5kg hand weights every other day - I guess that sounds pretty puny compared to what you're doing! Good luck reaching your 1 stone goal by your birthday/xmas
Thank you Ruth, I'm delighted to have lost 1 lb especially after the weekend. It's a hectic week at work this week so I have reduced my kicking the km target to get back on track with the kettlebell swings. 300 last night before pilates and 600 tonight. The 600 tonight is the most I've ever done in a night before, I expect I'll feel it tomorrow. How's your new job? It's taking me days to catch up on posts on here but hopefully I'll be back up to date by Monday.
after Scotland's defeat at rugby- I am just about able to smile this morn.
Quick check in- haven't got my glasses and on phone.
Well done LC - good to be on losing side again:-).
Yesterday I lost half a pound- so going to claim that for today's weigh- in. feeling after a month of party weekends that it is time to hang up party shoes and go into health zone.
Aiming for 1 pound loss this week. Good luck everybody. X
Thanks for your kind words, and I am so sorry that Scotland were defeated at the Rugby - I'm glad you can just about smile in those circumstances.
Congratulations for your half a pound loss though, especially as you've had a month of party weekends, that is amazing that you managed a loss on the scales.
Health zone here you come, and party shoes can take a rest for a bit. Hopefully not too long though, as I"m sure those party shoes enjoy your company!
Lowcal good news on that the lost pound - I know how focused you are - and if you can link it to the healthy food choices and the exercise then it makes it easier to plan going forward. I think you are sensible to reset your goals - but it is difficult to plan weightloss - as opposed to healthy living - because metabolisms are so tricksy.
I am in North-Wales for the week. The autumn colors are simply stunning. Conwy has put up "help yourself" mini vegetable gardens dotted around the town: this is a brilliant idea and lots of visitors were grazing them. Not surprisingly, I am eating fresh herbs and fresh salads every day along with blackberries and free apples. Love autumn.
Last week I weighed 91.2kgs. On Friday just before I left I weighed 91.7kgs. My weight oscillates a lot day by day and that was simply a "spiky" day. Hopefully I will record a bigger loss next Monday.
Thank you so much for your encouraging words, they are much appreciated.
Great to hear you're enjoying being in North Wales for the week, and enjoying those stunning Autumn colours. Those 'help yourself' mini vegetable gardens sound like a fantastic idea, and great that you're enjoying all those fresh herbs and fresh salads daily, not to mention the delicious blackberries and apples. What a great combination! I love Autum too.
I calculate that is a 0.5 kg gain between last Monday's weight in and Friday (when you weighed before leaving for your holiday). Like you say, it was a 'spiky' day, and not a very big gain considering you're on holiday.
Enjoy the remainder of your holiday, and have a great time.
Love the sound of those pick your own vegetable gardens. I really love having fresh herbs and salads, I'm learning how to keep things fresher and have managed to keep a basil plant alive for nearly a month now. Hope your next weigh-in is a spike in the opposite direction, enjoy the rest of your break too
A very big well done on your 1lb loss. My weight this morning is 13.05 up from last week but I'm pleased it is a small jump. I have been sensible with my food choices and am doing lots of exercise so hopeful for the future. Onwards and upwards.
Great to hear you've had a good week, and that you've been sensible with your food choices and also doing lots of exercise. Yes, you've only had a very very slight gain - I noticed that you weighed 12 stone 13.7 pounds last week, so you now weight 13 stone 0.5 pounds? That would mean you've gained 0.8 pound? Is that correct? Let me know if I've not calculated it correctly, as Maths isn't my strong point.
Hi, yes I think it's ok. Forgot to say waist still the same 41" want it to do something, pleease! I am enjoying this calorie counting and feel positive which I'm sure it's because of the wonderful support.
It's great to see you for your first weigh-in after joining us last week. Fantastic to hear you've lost 3 pounds, that is really great! Congratulations!
Hope you had an enjoyable week, and wishing you another great week ahead.
A very warm welcome to you, and thanks for joining us for this Monday weigh-in. You've made the brave step of sharing your starting weight, and I hope that felt ok to do that.
Are you doing the NHS 12 week plan? It's worth a look, as it's a really good structure and has lots of good advice. You can access it via the icon in the top middle of the screen entitled 'Weight Loss NHS' - I'd recommend also using an app to help you to track your calories and exercise - like Myfitnesspal, for example.
Anyway, it's great that you've joined us, and we'll look forward to catching up with you at next week's weigh-in.
Thank you for your message, this is also the first time I've tried a forum too, so would be grateful if you keep me right. Am doing the 12 week plan and have been trying to count the calories on myfitnesspal for the last few days to get me started. Thinking of a pedometer too, to help me keep walking a little further each day or so. I'd be grateful for any advice or suggestions from anyone? Thanks
Well. you asked for advice or suggestions... have you looked at the couch to 5k programme? I did that and developed a running habit, it was an absolute game-changer, now I'm so focused on keeping doing my runs and staying healthy all day so as not to waste the effort I put into a run in the morning. I also found various exercise routines on the NHS website that have been good too. Have you thought about how you're going to fulfil the 2x/week strength exercises quota that the 12 week plan advises? I didn't get anything in place in the beginning, but doing strength exercises is a really good way to make sure you lose weight. Joining a circuit training class or doing squats/abs exercises might help with this - hope you don't wish you hadn't asked now...
Morning Fab5. Great news on your loss Lowcal, well done and wow 2bFabnfit - reaching below your goal weight is AWESOME!! So pleased for you.
Last week I weighed 17.4.5 stones, this morning I weigh 17.10.2. Aaaaarrrrgggh!!!!
I have not fallen off the waggon - I have kept up the diet and exercise, so can only put it down to PMT, which right now is the worst I've experienced in several months. A 3-5 lb weight gain at this time is not at all unusual for me - but 7?????
OK, I had lunch out on Saturday, which involved burger, fries and 2 glasses of wine in a pub, BUT the burger was just pure beef and salad, no mayo or anything, and with my new, reduced appetite I could only finish 2/3 of the burger, 1/2 the bun and no dessert. This was also somewhat mitigated by 2-2 1/2 hours of moderately strenuous gardening (heavy digging, pruning, weeding) before and after lunch tidying up my mum's garden for winter. I KNOW I haven't eaten to put on that much weight in a week, so am going to regard it as a blip, go for my planned run today and just stick to the plan.
PMT is the worst and the likely culprit to the weight gain! so don't worry about it, keep going and im sure in about 1-2 weeks depending on how ur body acts all the weight/fluid will be off
It HAS to be PMT moreless. I am being totally honest with myself with this diet - if I had eaten enough to put on 7lb in a week I would 'fess up. I ran last Sunday, Tues, Thurs, gardened on Sat and 4 hours housework yesterday, whilst sticking to the diet. Thanks for your good wishes.
Glad to hear you've not fallen off the wagon this week, that is good to hear! Well done for keeping up the diet and exercise, and sorry to hear you're currently experiencing the dreaded consequences of a bad case of PMT bloating - those hormones can be really ferocious in creating weight gain sometimes, and I calculate they've made you gain 5.7 pounds this week (hope my Maths if right). You have calculated it as 7 pounds, but I only make it 5.7 pounds, so maybe it's not as bad as you thought originally - but then maybe it's my Maths, it's not my best... Maybe Ruth will clarify it when she does the stats.
Anyway, the important things is that you KNOW that you stayed on track, and you coped really well with that meal you had on the weekend - shows how your appetite has changed that you were only able to eat part of that burger bun. Great that you've done lots of exercise as well - all that gardening is great, and your Mum will hopefully appreciate your efforts to make her garden nice for the Winter.
Hope you're enjoying your planned run today, and putting this gain behind you, as I am sure it will result in a lovely big weight loss for next week, and you can look forward to that, all being well. Just keep doing what you're doing, and the overall trend will reflect it.
I agree with your maths Lowcal - I also very much approve of all types of maths that reduce a weight gain or at least reduce the impression of one - you seem to have a knack for this!
So sorry to hear this Jigglypuff - just wondering if it's not you but your scales? Sometimes when the batteries are running low scales can do weird things. Might be worth replacing the batteries to see if that helps? Or maybe time to upgrade your scales - depending on whether you feel they may perhaps be the culprit?
I hadn't thought of that Ruth. The scales aren't that old, but the battery might well need replacing. The thing I'm really annoyed about is that my boobs were too sore today for me to complete my run, even with a v. supportive sports bra. Will try again tomorrow.
It sounds like you're having particularly bad time-of-month troubles if you're feeling so uncomfortable like that. Since you've run today, and to give yourself a chance to get more back to your normal self, give yourself a day off before running again. When I've had incomplete runs I've always reminded myself how amazing it is to have gone out at all, and to have pushed myself to the limit of what I could do. Not many people can really say they ever do that, so try not to be down about not completing your run today
And, yeah try replacing the batteries, they don't tend to be expensive and could be the reason. Of course it could always be our old friend water retention, only time and drinking lots of water will fix that of course...
Well done on 1lb shed Lowcal. For what it's worth I think to adjust your targets to a more realistic weight is good sense; that way in the long term you are more likely to achieve your goal rather than setting the bar too high.
Whilst on holiday I gained 6lbs, I wasn't too disappointed with that as prior to my holiday I was 2lbs under target so in reality I was only 4lbs over when I came home!
Well I've been home almost a week now and in that time I've managed to shed 3lbs. I didn't find it too difficult to get back on track and to be honest I was looking forward to getting back to healthy eating.
Like you I've re-set my target, first I want to shed that 1lb by next week to get me back to my original target weight of 9st. 9lbs. Ultimately 9st is my goal but slowly, slowly.
Have a great week everybody...it's good to be back with like minded people!
Thank you very much for your kind words. Thanks also for your comment about adjusting targets to a more realistic weight - I thought about it, and felt it was better to work towards something that I thought might be more achievable for me. I'm trying to get the balance right between 'pushing myself' but not 'overdoing it' - as the way I am eating at the moment is something I want to continue for the rest of my life, and therefore it is a lifestyle change and not a diet in my mind.
Congratulations for losing 3 pounds this week, and to almost being back at your pre-holiday weight, that is excellent progress, really well done!
Good to hear you've also re-set your target, and it sounds like a really good plan - slow and steady is sustainable and healthy.
We're glad to have you back, and wish you another great week ahead.
I put on a lbs go and figure it out. I was so careful o.k. I have to admit cheated a bit over the weekend but was so good yesterday. Did lots of exercise last week. Just wondering if if it is very bad to weigh myself every other day? Should really stick to once a week?
At the moment I weigh 13.2.5 would like to get down to 11 stones.
Thanks for the encouragement for being on a yoyo diet and than being able to maintain it because I was struggling for a year and now with fabulous forum I determined to reach my goal .
I guess the past is the past and I am now goingto get up and contue eating healthier and doing more walking.
Glad you found us ok today, and a Very Warm Welcome, as I know this is your first posting in our thread (with the exception of your brief post to a previous thread asking how to join our weigh-in). It's great to see you. I'm sorry to hear you've gained a pound this week, especially as you were so careful. I also find weekends more challenging, and I tend to try to tackle that by actively pre-planning what 'extras' I'm going to allow myself (it works sometimes, and sometimes it doesn't, but generally it works quite well) - that way you allow yourself something without going overboard - that's my theory anyway.
There are many opinions regarding the advantages and disadvantages of when to weigh, and I think many people might advocate it's better to only weigh once a week if you want to look at overall trends - as weight does fluctuate a lot day to day, and even within the same day. Personally, I weigh every day, but that's because I enjoy it - I don't think I'm 'obsessive' about it, as it doesn't affect me too much when I see the scales go up - they can go up by well over a pound and down again daily.
I think it depends how you think you will react if you see lots of fluctuations - if you think it would upset you, then restrict yourself to once a week. Do what feels best for you, and adapt as necessary. There's no 'rule' about it. There will however be plenty of opinions on it, so take what is useful from whatever your read or hear, and discard the rest. We're all individuals, and what works well for one person, may be unhelpful to another.
I hope you felt ok to share your weight with us today, that's a big step, and hopefully you'll be lighter as the weeks progress, and you'll get into the 12's relatively soon.
You sound motivated and determined, and I think those are both great traits - and hopefully you'll find this forum to be supportive and helpful.
I find it invaluable, as everyone is always so supportive and encouraging.
Wishing you a great week ahead, and look forward to seeing you in future weigh-ins and around and about in the forum.
Thank you! Yes, hopefully I might achieve my ultimate goal eventually - thank you for your encouragement.
Congratulations to you for losing 3 pounds this week, that is amazing! Wow, you're almost in double figures for the amount of pounds you've lost - 9 pounds is really good! Great that you've set yourself a Christmas goal, that is very sensible, as it's good to break your goals into manageable steps, and that is far more achievable.
Morning all well done on the weight loss lowcal I have lost 3lb this week but have been off on holiday n been able to go to a few different classes at the gym I think mixing the exercise up a bit def helps , hope you all have a good week !
Congratulations to you for losing 3 pounds this week - it's amazing that you managed to do that whilst being on holiday, and it shows how having an 'active holiday' with lots of different gym classes really helps - you've obviously worked hard, and well done on reaping the rewards of that.
Morning all. Well done Lowcal on your loss and to others !
Unfortunately, i had a bad week, time of month, too many carbs and too much wine, little exercise resulting in 2lb gain? Really struggling with exercise as knees constantly niggling!
Well, i like your re setting goals Lowcal and feel i may need to do that. I was hoping to be a healthy bmi by Christmas but seems might be a struggle. However, i do seem to go up and down by few pounds for a while then seem to manage a good loss, so we will see. Just hope this week for a loss of what put on!
Sorry to hear your knees have been constantly niggling, and that you've got your time of the month to contend with. Don't worry too much about that 2 pound gain, if you can, as it will hopefully soon be gone again.
Hopefully that 'good loss' that happens for you will happen again very soon, and in the meantime, just keep going.
Hi Vickster, sorry to see you've gained 2lbs this week, but I think you can really easily reverse that and get back on track for your christmas goal. You know what's gone wrong this week. The exercise isn't the big problem - you can lose weight just fine without needing to exercise, although it helps in the long term to establish an exercise routine within what you're capable of. For me, what's standing out is the 'too much wine'. If you can get a handle on that then I think you'll get back on track. I got some nice fizzy water and some different herbal teas this week to try and distract myself from the wine craving, and it really helped, so maybe try some things like that. Good luck
Pleased to report my weight at 10st 7.4lbs this morning, which means I've lost 1.4lbs since last week. Going into week 12 of the 12 Week Plan now, and feeling absolutely fantastic! I intend to finish strong!!
It's been a good week for eating and exercise - I had one major slip up on the eating front, One day last week I found myself at 4pm with less that 100 cals left for the rest of the day, due to a pesky plate of chocolate crepes and a complete lack of will power... the old me would have thrown caution to the wind, eaten up a massive dinner to balance the massive lunch and declared that I was "rubbish at diets and they were impossible!!". My I didn't panic or react like that at all, I just continued as planned, when to the gym as normal (but didn't overdo it to compensate), and then made a delicious carrot, courgette and coriander soup for dinner (okay, it wasn't that delicious, but it will certainly stop me making that mistake again!)
Congratulations on losing 1.4 pounds this week, and that you're planning to have a 'strong' final week on the 12 week plan. Hope you'll still be with us beyond that - it's great that you're feeling really good. Very inspiring.
Great to hear you've had a good week for eating and exercise, and only one major slip-up. Chocolate crepes definitely sounded like a temptation hard to resist. Fantastic that you coped so well with the remaining part of the day, as it shows how you can enjoy a treat, but make it part of your day, rather than feeling that it has 'ruined' the day. Your Carrot, Courgette and Coriander soup sounds really healthy - sorry you didn't find it delicious though - I wonder if you could maybe add an ingredient like some cayenne pepper or something to spice it up and make it more tasty. I do that quite a lot with my soups, and I love the kick that ensues, it's really nice.
Glad you're enjoying the 'adventure' of it all, and hope you have another great week ahead.
That's so amazing that you turned your day around. Chocolate crepes sound like a very fiendish type of food to have been thrown in your path - few people would have been able to resist! But you've definitely won that battle with a 1.4lb loss - absolutely ace! Lots of luck for week 12 and ending this on an absolute high
Thanks for all your posts, great to see how many of us are holding ourselves accountable and making progress.
When I stepped on the scales this morning I seem to have gained 0.1 of a kg which is a bit disappointing - after getting to 54.4 last week to go in the wrong direction to 54.5. But hey, it's only a small gain and I have lost nearly 6kg since the end of July, so keeping on keeping on. My activity levels are still down a bit as I'm still nursing a chest cold that's hanging on for 3 weeks and I think portion sizes may be creeping up a bit as my sons are now doing some of the cooking as part of their contribution to smooth running of the household. Their repertoire is quite limited too, but at least I've got them using wholewheat pasta not the refined kind.
Anyway, onwards we go, hoping I can shake off the chestiness and get back to feeling well again.
I know you're feeling a bit disappointed about gaining 0.1 of a kg, but that is only a small gain, and like you say, you've lost nearly 6kg since the end of July, which is fantastic!
I am so sorry to hear that your chest cold is hanging on for so long - that is definitely horrible to have to cope with that. I remember having a chest infection for ages in February last year, and I had to have about 3 lots of antibiotics in the end to shift it. I felt very sorry for myself.
It's good that your sons are doing more cooking and so looking after you a bit whilst you're having this cold, and although the portion sizes are perhaps a little larger, and their repertoire relatively basic, at least you are being looked after to enable you to recuperate properly!
Take it easy, and get the rest you need. Hope you feel better really soon.
Thanks Lowcal. I keep hoping it will clear up without recourse to antibiotics especially as it's nigh on impossible to get t see a doctor in this part of East London. Your infection last year sounds horrible. Yes I am grateful the lads are finally pulling their weight. It took Tom moving back in after graduating for it to happen but it's all good.
A very warm welcome to you, and thanks so much for joining us for this Monday weigh-in group thread. It's great to hear you're feeling motivated and that you're looking forward to a successful week - I think that positive frame of mind will definitely help you to achieve a lot in your first week.
You've shared your starting weight today, and I hope that felt ok to do so. It's a brave step, and hopefully you'll be lighter from now on, and feeling healthier too.
Have you set yourself any goals, and are you using a weight loss plan? I can recommend the NHS 12 week plan, as it is well structured and full of good advice. I find that using an app to track calories and exercise is helpful alongside it, something like Myfitnesspal or similar.
Whatever you decide to do, I'd like to wish you success, and we'll look forward to catching up with you in future weigh-ins, and around and about in the forum.
End of week three. Starting weight 15,12 end weight 15,11 so 1lb lost. Not quite the result i wanted but not unexpected as i had a conference this weekend where we had three sit-down meals a day and i have no will power whatsoever with things like that! Aiming to make 5,8 by next week anyway and will just have to see!!
Congratulations for losing 1 pound this week, that is really great, especially as you had all those sit-down meals at the weekend Conference to contend with. I know you said you have 'no will power whatsoever' with those occasions, but I think you must have done something right to have lost 1 pound over the week, so well done you!
You've set yourself quite a big weight loss goal for this week, as you are hoping to lose 3 pounds. That could be quite challenging to achieve, but I wish you the best - and hope you have another great week ahead.
Good morning everyone. I've managed to lose one pound this week .Slow but sure.I know I can do better.Must do more exercise ,I'm getting lazy in my old age and there s no excuse. Will make a better effort this week.😱
I totally agree as I am talking from experience. That is my problem lose weight very fast and than end putting it on so now I am determined to lose slowly and keep it off and than I will be able to fit into all my clothes again.
Congratulations on losing 1 pound this week, that is really great!
Good luck with your plans to increase your exercise - it can be good to choose something that you particularly enjoy, as that makes it easier to stick with. I don't know what kind of things you like doing, but hope you find something that brings you some pleasure and makes you feel good.
Your effort is great already, as losing 1 pound is amazing.
Well done on your 1lb loss and good luck with your goal for Christmas. I was 13 stone last week, however I have got back out walking with my dog after my fall and weight gain and managed to get down to 12.12 this morning, so really pleased as didn't want to go over 13 stone again. My goal is to get to 12.7 for Christmas and like yourself would like to lose another 7lbs for the summer.
Wow, I am pleased to hear that you're into the 12's today - many Congratulations!!!! Brilliant that you've achieved that, and that you've lost 2 pounds this week. Really well done! I bet you're feeling really good - we have very similar goals - really exciting!
I am feeling particularly motivated by your post, Slimjan, as your success is making me feel I might get into the 12's too. They are so elusive to me!
I hope you're recovered from your fall - it sounded really nasty - I know you were told that recuperating will take several weeks, so make sure you don't overdo things, and hope the pain is more manageable now.
Thankyou so much, I am nearly back to normal now. Yes our goals are similar, hope you can get into the 12's soon, I was really dissapointed when I had gone back int the 13's, still at least I'm not back up to the 14's, it's thanks to you and the group as I am sure I would have piled it on again.
We have friends to stay for a couple of days tomorrow but will cut down after and hopefully not put any on.
Today I am 12st 10lbs, 2lb down on last week. Which really surprised me as I was at my friends house for a few days when we had pizza, fish and chips etc!! If I can reach 12st 7lb next week I'd be amazed! My new belt I bought is already too big -_- lol
Congratulations to you for losing 2 pounds this week, that is really great!!! Good to hear your new belt is already too big - maybe you can have an extra hole fitted to accommodate your new slimmer size.
Pizza, fish and chips can definitely be part of meal plans where people are trying to lose weight. They are tasty too!
Good luck with your goal to lose 3 pounds this week. It's quite unusual to lose that much in one week, once you're into the plan and out of your first few weeks, but obviously not impossible. I know you achieved a 3 pound weight loss last week, and that was when you got down into the 12's. Hope you're still enjoying wearing those 34 inch jeans that your brother bought you. I think you've lost 10 pounds in total now, haven't you? So you're already into double figures. Really great progress.
Sorry to hear you've not a happy bunny at the moment, and that you feel like you're slipping into some old snacking habits and that you haven't had a chance to get walking.
Glad to hear that you've lost a pound though, and Congratulations on achieving that! You're close to the 100's - I know you wanted to be 200 pounds sooner, but you're very nearly there, and hopefully if you can work on your motivation levels, you'll ensure you get there next week - all being well.
Remember, that you lost a pound this week DESPITE slipping into some old snacking habits, and DESPITE not having had a chance to do some walking - I know that you've been suffering from shin pain, so try not to be hard on yourself.
I know you've got a really busy day today, so hopefully when all the busyness is over, and you fancy a read through of the thread, it will help you re-motivate and re-focus, and I hope you'll have a better week ahead.
I just get frustrated sometimes, especially when I'm missing my exercise time. Feeling better after your kind words, and will get motivated again. Here comes another busy week, but in half term I have time for myself. Thank you again for being so positive for me ✴
Don't get down Elissy, get determined. You're only 1lb away from that magic 200 and 2lb will take you under. One week of cracking the whip will be so worth it and you will feel so much better.
You've only got to read the posts in this thread to recapture your motivation. We all struggle, but if we stick together, we can do this.
Repeat after me: I will beat the battle of the bulge!
I will beat the battle with the bulge - I will, I will!!!!
Thank you, moreless 😊 " I gotta pick myself up, and dust myself down,..."
Just finding it hard. But you're right, I will find time to read this thread later and I will aim for under 200 lb next Monday. Thank you for your push in the right direction, have a good week yourself, Elissy 🌼
Last week I weighed 16st 10 lb 4 ozs and today I weighed 16 St 9 lbs 0 ozs that means I've lost 1 lb 4 0 I set my goal at 1 lb a wk so it's going to be a long haul my calories goal is 1490 daily cals I'm doing it with the fitnessapp and it's been a great help. It's been helping me to realise what foods are high in fat carbohydrates etc it made me realise that it's not just calorie counting I have to check.the app is brilliant it helps me work everything out. I hope you are all doing as well as you do xx
Congratulations to you for losing 1.4 pounds in your first week, that is brilliant! You've more than achieved your weekly goal, and that must feel great. Really well done.
Glad you've found Myfitnesspal to be a great help, and that you're learning more about the micronutrients in the foods. It can be an eye-opener sometimes.
My first weigh-in today. 101.8kgs - see photo as proof - eeek! (I can't work out how to add a photo?)
Over the weekend my sister and I set-up a competition for ourselves to see who loses the most weight by Christmas. The winner will receive £300! So a £150 investment from each of us.
This is a big money incentive for us. I told her I don't really have £150 but then I don't intend on losing either! But seriously even if we lose we still win because we will have lost weight and be slimmer than we are now.
She is doing weight watchers and has plateaued the last 6 months, I'm doing my own thing and trying to make it a lifestyle change rather than a diet.
I guess my aim for Christmas is to be a stone (about 7kgs) lighter but my overall aim is to lose 5 stone to be at a healthy BMI.
7kgs lighter for Christmas will mean I can join in with the family tradition of tobogganing on Boxing Day. Previous years I have sat it out, made excuses like I'm too tired or I will watch the children but really it is because I know that there will be no salopettes big enough for me to fit into and no toboggans big enough to fit my ar*e! This year things will be different.
A very warm welcome to you and thanks for joining us in this Monday group weigh-in. I noticed that you had written a post previously where you said you'd be proving your weight loss by posting a picture of yourself on the scales - I know you were encouraged by one of our fellow posters (I think I know who it was, but don't want to name them, just incase), but I want you to know that we don't need proof on here - your word is sufficient for us!
Great to hear that you and your sister set up a weight-loss competition to incentivise you both to lose weight - that sounds motivating. Also good that you have the tobogganing goal to look forward to as well - having intermittent goals is really motivating.
I know you're doing your own thing, but the NHS 12 week plan is worth a look if you want any extra ideas or advice - it's worth a look, but only if you want to! Using an app like Myfitnesspal can also help, but again only if you want to track your calories and exercise.
You've posted your starting weight, and I hope that felt ok to do so. You're already close to being under the 100's.
Wishing you a great first week, and look forward to catching up with you in future Monday weigh-ins, and around and about in the forum.
Thanks Lowcal. I have since printed off the 12 week plan as kind of guide for myself to follow although I will opt out of the calorie counting.
I did do well at Weight Watchers counting points to start with but then I became obsessional about it and I would rather not go back there if I can help it with calorie counting.
Sorry to hear you're having problems with the thread - I think it's slower as we're such a large thread with a lot of 'traffic' on it. Not sure. I know people do mention glitches sometimes, so hope you don't have too many problems.
Fair enough on the calorie counting - there have been debates within the forum about the usefulness of it from time to time. Although the app Myfitnesspal makes it really easy to do, and takes the angst out of it.
You must do what works for you personally - and great that you've downloaded the 12 week plan for some guidance - I think it has some good ideas and advice.
A bit bummed as if the weigh in had been yesterday, I would have reported a loss of two pounds - but today the scales tell me that I have only maintained at 182 pounds. As I don't recall eating an additional 7000 calories yesterday, I can only assume that I've gained something other than fat. Bleurgh.
Yes, it certainly sounds like you've perhaps retained some water today, and that will soon be out of your system again. I know it's disappointing when that happens, but it can be down to all sorts of things - I usually find it happens to me when I've eaten salty foods over the weekend, or if I'm feeling dehydrated or hormonal.
Congratulations on maintaining your weight, but I suspect the truth is that you'll see a loss tomorrow - if that happens, why don't you pop back here and tell us your weight, as we could then count the loss in this week's stats - but if you don't want to do that, then just wait till next Monday, and you can report a larger loss, all being well, that will be counted into next week's stats.
Hi Lowcal, the Fab5 and everyone, I have lost 1 and a quarter pounds this week, so I am very pleased about that. Just gotta keep it going - making healthy choices and maintain exercise, I mainly swim 3-4 times a week and walk. Have a good week everyone.
Congratulations on losing 1.25 pounds this week, that is really great!
Sounds like you have a good mix of exercise with those regular swims and the walks too. Great that you're making healthy choices and maintaining your exercise.
Wishing you another great week ahead.
Lowcal
Hi Fabulous Five, sorry last week I was cheeting. I think I didn't weigh in... my brother and family was around to visit... I was really occupied with eating (hahaha) and cooking. So well this morning I stood on the scale and I had 91,8kg. I think I gained 400g or 600g. Not sure about this bit. Well I have 6 weeks to go before going on a holiday and I wanted to look a bit smarter than what I am now... And I am fighting as well with a cold, which enjoys staying with me for the second week now, sorry I am lamenting, I know... I have all the good medicine and I have to keep going ... Cheerioh,
Thank you for reading our messages and stay healthy, please
Sounds like you had a nice Monday last week with your brother and family visiting you, and you had a nice social family time cooking and eating. You've not gained too much - shall we count your gain as 500g as it's in the middle of your estimate? Maybe Ruth will be able to help with the amount lost, as she will have your previous weight in her records most likely.
Sorry to hear you've got a cold at the moment, and really hope you feel better soon and recuperate well. Never apologise for lamenting - glad to hear you've got some good medicine and hope you cope ok.
You've still got 6 weeks to go before your holiday, so that's plenty of time.
not sure what has happened to my last reply but it was about living your life and having fun which you have had and just jumping back on the wagon - or climbing carefully! you have done that despite not feeling that great with a cold. Have a good week and hope you are fighting fit by next monday
Well done to all the 'losers' (there's got to be a nicer way of saying that!)
Week 2 done and dusted - 1.5 lb lost and another inch off my waist (that's 5.5 pounds and 2" off my waist in total).
Now on day 19 of Sober October - which is really helping to stop binge eating on the weekend.
Next goal is to join the local gym, at the moment I'm spending a lot of time gardening, finishing off the last minute jobs before the winter, and it's great being outside.
What a positive post! well done on that loss its great to lose inches too- you will be needing a belt to keep those trousers up or may be a new pair! Being sober really does help keep those munchies at bay and I hope you manage to join that gym, we have two budget gyms opening early 2016 and I understand one puregym is only a month to month subscription as is our local leisure centre so at least you can give it a try without spending a whole lot of cash - enjoy your gardening and have a great week
I almost didn't weigh in today but then I realised that is precisely against the point of this and I have to just do it and keep myself accountable. The reason I didn't want to weigh in today is because on the first week of the diet I've actually put on 2 pounds. I can give excuses, it was my birthday, we had a bit of a heavy weekend etc etc... but really it was because as soon as I decided I was going to do this, all I wanted to junk food. Even junk food I've never particularly wanted before. It was silly and a little disheartening but I can't go back in time so I just need to chalk it up as a bad week and look forward to the next one which will hopefully be a bis loss.
I hope my weigh in next week will be a very different story!
you know loads of us have been at that point, the difference is that you have come back and faced up to it rather than burying your head in the sand so well done for that! I think you have already put last week behind you so upwards and onwards keep going and have a grand week. looking forward to your post next week!
Thank you for your support. This forum is brilliant for that. I know no-one will judge me for a bad week but will give helpful advice and support to help me on my journey and I love that.
I've tried and tried to post a reply to you and it just hasn't worked. Maybe this time I'll be lucky.
Well done you for having the courage to post a gain, I know it isn't easy. It's only by making ourselves accountable that we're able to put mistakes behind us and move on.
The first week is a very steep learning curve and it's important to remember that this isn't a diet, but a new way of life. If you start denying yourself, you'll instantly start craving those items and others. It's a human reaction
Leave yourself enough calories for a small treat every day and just maybe you won't want to devour everything in sight
Thanks, that's a good idea to allow enough calories for a treat every day while I'm getting used to the lifestyle change. I'll try to do that this week and let you know how I get on.
Missed you the last 2 weeks! I was weighing in myself but for one reason or another, found things got away from me and I didn't get a chance to post! While I was gone, I managed to get myself up to 13st! Which was somewhere I didn't want to be! Ever! I don't know what happens! Weighing in at that weight last week shocked me! Especially as I didn't really eat any more extravagantly than usual. But as a result, I have noticed 2 new stretch marks across my stomach! 2 red lines either side of my belly button! Very disappointing.
But maybe that was the kick that I needed as weighing in this week I am down to 12st 11lbs. I have managed to lose 3lbs! I feel like I have been given a second wind. I'm really going to knuckle down this week. With the wedding drawing nearer and Christmas looming with all the chocolatey goodness, I really would like to be at 12st 5lbs before December hits. Hopefully by losing a bit more weight before then will encourage me not to stuff my face over the Christmas holidays and undo all the hard work I will have (hopefully) done!
Hi Sophie have missed you, i am dreadful if I dont weigh myself regularly I gain! so consider yourself watched by the diet police I shall be pming you if you don't post next week Well done on this weeks weight loss you see that second wind is really working - when is the wedding again? I am sure you will achieve your Xmas goal only 8 weeks to go! lets all crush those pounds for the festive season
Morning, this is my first day. I followed the 12 week plan before my summer holiday and lost weight. Put on weight and haven't done a thing about it. But I was told it's 10 weeks until Christmas so that's 5 pounds which could be gone and I'll have a 10 in front of my weight and I'll be a happy little thing I don't have loads to lose, it's one of those things - the same clothes will still fit. They'll just not struggle to do so Plus I've OD'd recently on cakes, sweeties and rose wine, and now I have a cold. And I'm sure those two are related! So I'm 11 stone 2.6pounds today, and should like to lose 5 pounds for Christmas so the control pants have a chance in a pretty dress
I have read week one's plan and have written down everything I will eat today. That's 1808 calories. And that was cutting down so I need to look and see how to cut down further! Will go google and see what I should be aiming for, calorie wise.
Welcome aboard Maxine, you have a nice realistic goal and hopefully weighing in regularly will help with that. good move to get rid of the excess weight rather than buying a new wardrobe, hopefully it wont be long before it doesn't all feel quite so snug! choose an item and try it on each week when you weigh in if the scales arent moving down quickly enough just see how the item feels as sometimes we dont always see the result we want on the scales good luck for next weeks weigh in
Hello guys! Well done on your weight loss. I'm hoping to join you on the weight loss train. I just started the 12 weeks plan and hopefully will be close to or at my goal weight which is 60kgs. I'm currently at a miserable 73.6kg and is desperate to lose it! I got engaged and got married in 9 months and between wedding planning, school and work I just ate and ate and ate some more. So now none of my clothes fit and get depressed looking into the mirror. I have now joined the gym and aim to.work out at least 5 times a week and rest on the weekend. I hope I sound a lot happier next week after my weigh in. Thanks all xx
welcome aboard CoolieFit, the 12 week plan is a great way to start, try using something like my fitness pal for tracking calories to get an idea of how much you may be eating/drinking. Congrats on the wedding sometimes it can be easy to get cosy once you settle down but it will be easier to start now, the longer we leave it the worse it becomes! looking forward to hear how you get on next Monday have a great week
Woo hoo well done on losing 2 packs of butter Lowcal, wtg!
This week I lost a total of 3lb for the stats. So that's the 1 1/2 I put on last week plus another 1 1/2 if we're being technical lol.
It appears I am susceptible to fluctuations whatever I do so I'll just keep on keepin' on and chipping away at it. I'm still eating the same things as I did last week, sticking to the same calorie range, and yet this week I lost weight. No rhyme nor reason to it! Anyway, I plan to continue like this for a good six months to get a clearer picture of what happens on a week by week basis. I will try to remember to log things like (a) when the leg is more swollen, (b) when I've missed sleep, (c) when I've had to take extra drugs so that I can tie things together and see what, if anything, affects my weight week by week. Hoping that will keep me focused on the long term journey...I'm good at the moment but I have gotten fed up in the past with inexplicable weight fluctuations and given up. I don't plan to do that this time! If, at the end of six months, the overall trend is downwards, that will tell me all I need to know and I will be happy to keep going as I am - if it ain't broke, don't fix it, type of thing. If it's not so favourable then I will review what I eat further and maybe ask for some tips etc on here!
Well done WW its a downward trend, my weight fluctuates from day to day so depending on how your body feels on a monday is the record for the week, so just remember it could be 1-2lbs either way. Try taking measurements too as they can be inspiring too! you are taking a sensible approach its not a sprint its a marathon ! have a great week
Hi Fab Five - I am not really here with a weigh in just to say hello to you lovely people.
Well done on your loss this week Lowcal.
I usually put on a little at the weekend but with some hard work and sensible eating I managed to lose 3/4lb over the weekend. I still have 1/2 lb to go to get back to my pre-holiday weight but a step in the right direction
Lovely of you to pop by and support us, we appreciate it!
Well done for losing 0.75 lb over the weekend, that is definitely an achievement. Good luck with that remaining half pound to get to your pre-holiday weight - you're definitely stepping in the right direction, and I think you'll get there very soon.
I'll look out for your weigh-in later in the week, and good luck for it!
Lowcal
Hi Lowcal,
Great result and nothing wrong with rethinking what can/will achieve within a time frame. The reality of this process is life and living gets in the way despite our determination😃
You will get there and it's not a race, and to hit the 12's will be magic for you.
You're right, it's not a race, and I will get to the 12's one day. Hopefully by Christmas! Hopefully 'this' Christmas rather than next Christmas. Nearer to Christmas I'm going to compare how things are now with how they were when I first joined this site back in 2013. That will be interesting to compare my habits back then versus now. I know I was in the habit of eating people's chocolate gifts and Christmas tree chocolate decorations back then, which I hardly ever do now - so things have improved!
(Admission/confession - I did eat a friend's present that I recently bought back from my holiday to France - delicious French buttery biscuits - I couldn't resist! I shared them with my hubby though - could have been worse!)
I feel better for that confession Flossie
Hope you have a great week, and I'll look out for your weigh-in later in the week. Wishing you a great week ahead.
I often look back at my food/activity diary, sometimes to rejig what I eat but other times to see how far I have come.
Had to laugh at your ' confession' I have done the same, more times then I care to confess !! lol. Now I don't dare buy Xmas chocs, biccies or cakes early as they all end up in Flossie
What kind of week have you had? I know you've gained 0.25 pound, but that is only a very very small gain, so hopefully you're not feeling too disappointed. I hope you've enjoyed your week, and I wonder how you found it.
Don't feel obliged to answer those questions, only if you want to. I've seen you on the forum before, but I don't think you've joined our weight loss group before, so I'm really happy you did so today, and thanks for joining us.
Hope you have a great week ahead, and that you're having a really good day.
Last week was crap health wise, my bi polar was bad, enough to be off sick one day, and then menopause bloat, seems ginger is the long term answer.
That took about a week to calm down, just as everything had been fine.
I did go off track a bit, and was very fed up, all is fine now, bloating finally went yesterday. I'm fine with my gain, given the week I'd had, I hope to have a few better weeks for a while.
Sorry to hear you had a bad week healthy wise. Glad you've found ginger to help you with the menopause bloat. I love the taste of ginger.
Glad to hear that your bloating has finally gone, and that you've been feeing better since yesterday. Hopefully you'll have a few better weeks for a while - you deserve them!
it doesn't matter, Diana what does matter is that you are here and you have weighed in, that's the important thing, when you are ready have a look and see where you can cut down or cut out, using my fitness pal to track your calories is also a good idea any questions feel free to ask someone will have an answer good luck for next week
See my above comment to lowcal, it was a very crap week, this one a new week!
Well done Lowcal. I hope you get to your target soon. I can imagine the last bit must be the hardest! I am aiming to be in the 11's by Christmas , I just need to get through next week's half term being away. Sensible food choices and exercise are my keys to try and not gain too much! Then hard slog to Christmas! Have a good week! Juliet
Thank you so much. I am definitely finding the last stone resistant to shift, but I have to say that the momentum inspired by this great Weigh-in group, and the support of everyone here is making me feel more determined this year to achieve the 12's - and I feel more positive that I might actually do it this Christmas.
It's great that your goal is to be in the 11's by Christmas, and I wish you lots of success with that goal. I think your keys to weight loss - sensible food choices and exercise are great keys. Hopefully you won't gain very much (if any) over half-term - and any gain will come off easily afterwards, if you do.
I'm looking forward to your Friday weigh-in, and will pop in to see how you're doing.
Hard slog to Christmas - oh no! Hopefully we'll all be toboggoning down the snowy slopes - I'm inspired by SV28's post earlier as she's going to be toboggoning, and it sounds like fun.
Wishing you a great week, and thanks for your continued support.
Hi lowcal thanks for getting back to me the myfitnesspal is brilliant this site has been brilliant it's taught me so much about the calorie counting and carbs, I'm still learning every day. Im 63 and have so many health problems exercise is out of the question so i have a lonng way to go but this site has been brilliant congratulations on your great achievements since you have been on here good luck to everyone xx
Good afternoon all and well done lowcal on your loss this week.
I this week have stayed the same which is a little bit frustrating but got to keep a positive attitude and tweeking my food so my aim this week is to lose 1lb.
Frustrating when you have followed the rules I agree. You know what its like we are aiming for a downward trend, so as long as we keep at it we will see results in the end! good luck and hoping for a positive week next week for both you and I and all our other club members
Hi, what a week. my mum has had a really bad stroke and between having to skip lunch on occasions and either grab a takeaway or take my dad out for a meal my diet has been all over the place. I havnt even had chance to log it on fitness pal which is a huge downfall. Anyway by some miracle I still seem to have lost the 2lb that I seem to loose every week. It brings me to a 19lb loss over the 7 weeks. I have no idea what to expect for next week. I have 3 meals out and who knows what will happen on the other days. i would love to think I could loose 2 more pounds to bring me to the stone and a half mark but I think this weeks realistic goal will have to be to maintain. Fingers crossed.
I am so sorry to hear the news about your Mum's stroke. I hope she is receiving good treatment and that you and your family are coping. It must have been a really stressful week for you.
Congratulations for losing 2 pounds this week, despite all that stress. 19 pounds in 7 weeks is phenomenal.
Fingers crossed for you that next week goes ok, both in terms of your Mum's condition, and your goal to maintain. Hope you have some supportive help yourself, even if it's just someone to talk to and let some of your emotions out (if you want to of course). There's always someone around in this forum, so know that we're out here, and we wish you and your family well.
I'm so sorry to hear about your mum Garhum, I hope things are looking a little more positive for you all now.
How you've managed to lose 2lb with everything that's happening in your life, I don't know. Maybe it was the worry.
Just being able to maintain next week will be a major achievement and I wish you all the best of luck. That stone and a half goal can wait until things calm down a bit.
Hi Lowcal, the fabfive and all the other lovely losers 😉
Well done lowcal on losing 1lb this week that's fantastic. I know how you feel about getting into the 12's, I'm nearly there but it seems to be just out of grasp at the moment, I can't remember what my Xmas goal is and will have a look later on.
This week I have joined the local sports centre and have been swimming twice so far. This morning was the second time and it was lovely and quiet, only about 7 people in when I got there and about twice that when I got out. Great way to start a Monday morning!
I weighed in this morning and have gone from 13st 2.5lb last week to
13st 0.75lb this week a loss of 1.75lb ☺ I'm really happy with that.
My goal for next week is to get into the 12's ! , go swimming 3 times this week and either book a class at the sports centre or a gym induction (don't know which of these yet)
What a great way to start a Monday morning, as you say - swimming in a lovely pool which is relatively quiet and relaxing. Sounds really good!
Congratulations on losing 1.75 pounds this week, that is a really great loss. That means you've achieved more than a stone lost now, isn't it. You said last week that you were hoping for a 1.5 pound loss this week, to achieve a stone loss, so you've achieved that plus a bit more! Really well done!
Wishing you success with your next goal, to get into the 12's by next Monday. You're well on your way.
This is the first time I've gained since I joined the forum back in June. I'm back to work today following my surgery. Hopefully being back in my usual routine will help me get on track.
Wow, you have done so well not to have gained any weight since you joined the forum back in June, and here you are today, gaining 1 pound - you'll soon have that off again in no time, I have no doubt!
Brilliant to hear you're back to work today following your surgery - I hope your first day back was ok. Hope you're feeling much better after your surgery and like you say, hopefully getting back into your usual routine will help you get on track.
My first week done and I lost 1.5 lbs. Less than I expected but its still heading in the right direction. Looking for some easy lunch ideas and quick to rustle up dinners. Making a note of everything I have eaten has definitely helped keep me on track. Well done to everyone who lost, hang on in there to the that need a wee boost onwards and downwards we go
That's a great result for your first week, and Congratulations on losing 1.5 pounds! I know you said you were expecting a bit more, but it really is a good start.
Great to hear that tracking your food and drink intake has helped to keep you on track. Hope you find lots of great easy lunch ideas and quick to rustle up dinners. I'm a fan of home-made soups, and tend to make a batch in the Autumn and Winter and freeze them for easy de-frosting and eating.
Here's to another great week ahead, and like you said, onwards and downwards!
I would really like to join if possible? Have I joined in the right way?? If yes, let me know what details are required to join, as it will be great to have some un-judgemental support. Em x
A very warm welcome to you, and thanks for joining us for this Monday weigh-in group. Yes, you've joined in the right way - there are no specific details required to join - you are welcome to post your starting weight (but only if you feel comfortable to do so) and basically you can share any details you want - many people mention their weight loss goals - it's often good to set yourself short-term goals as steps towards you ultimate goal. Also, people sometimes mention specific targets they hope to achieve during the week ahead. e.g. walking a specific amount of time or distance, or attending a gym, or looking at their portion sizes and pre-planning meals.
There is a great structured plan available which is the NHS 12 week plan, and it can be accessed via the icon at the top middle part of the screen, entitled 'Weight Loss NHS' - you have to negotiate a few pages to find the downloadable pages. Many people use an app like Myfitnesspal to track their calories and exercise, as it makes it very easy to do.
Hopefully we can provide the un-judgemental support you're looking for within this Monday weigh-in group, and we hope you'll join us for next week's weigh-in.
In the meantime, feel free to share whatever details you feel comfortable to share.
Oops, it won't let me delete the 2 identical replies to you, Freeland74 - maybe you're answering one of them which is why it won't delete. Sorry to replicate the response. Wasn't sure the first one went through ok.
I'm going to be away from my computer for a bit now, but I'll be back later.
Hi
Good Job low cal, glad to hear you are back on track.
! lb loss for me this week, was 19st 2.5 last week, 19St 1.5 this....
less than I'd hoped for, but I have had a couple of bad days this week.... so about what i deserve I suppose..
Determined to try and crack into the 18's this week....
Congratulations to you for losing 1 pound this week, you're getting closer to the 18's. I know you hoped for a bit more weight loss, but in view of having had a couple of bad days, it's a good loss.
You sound very determined, and that's a good mind-set to help you crack into those 18's - hopefully this week, all being well.
Just to say I'm going to bed now, but I will double check the thread tomorrow, in the meantime one of the other Fab 5'ers may be around later tonight to respond to any late weighers. But if they have also gone to bed - please post anyway, and your post will be responded to tomorrow.
Very inspiring thread - really enjoyed it. Will look forward to reading the progress of any late night weighers tomorrow.
Well done on the loss LowCal, your goals sounds great for Christmas!
Sorry for the delay in posting. I did weigh in yesterday, but did not have time to post. I have put on 1lb this week - gone up to 9 stone 10.2lbs
I'm having a really tough couple of weeks - having issues with someone at work which I am finding emotionally draining and it seems to be getting worse. This has meant that I am drinking most evenings and pigging out to make myself feel better (it doesn't). My manager is being great but I feel like a wreck! Looking for something new but nothing exciting is being advertised!
Sorry for the dreary post - I promise I will try and be more cherry next week!
Sorry to hear you're having such a tough time at work and that it's affecting your eating. Here's to a speedy resolution and a much cheerier you.
Don't worry about the 1lb gain, it's just a minor blip, concentrate on looking for a new job and posting on here to stop you from sinking into an eat/drink orgy
Fingers crossed that things will look much brighter by next Monday
Sorry to hear you've had a really tough couple of weeks, and that you have those emotionally draining issues regarding your relationship with one of your colleagues. Glad your manager is being supportive, but it sounds like you're finding it isn't resolvable so you're considering other employment. I hope you find something soon.
In the meantime, I hope you can find some coping mechanisms to help you cope better with the situation, and that you are able to put those in place to stop you from comfort eating and drinking. Maybe you could discuss potential ways of coping with your manager, who might be able to guide you in that, or maybe even consider some kind of complaint about your colleague if they are crossing lines of appropriate behaviour.
Don't apologise for the fact you've vented some of your feelings here, it's better out than in sometimes, and you don't need to be 'cheery' (or even cherry - I noticed that typo, as it's a colourful delicious sounding one) if you don't feel like it.
Instead of turning to the food and drink when you're feeling frustrated about your situation, you could perhaps do some exercise to get your endorphins going, and maybe use a punch bag to work off any more aggressive feelings - I don't know what feelings you are getting at those times, but maybe express them in different ways so you can work them out of your system a bit, and then have a more relaxing and enjoyable evening.
Sorry for the long reply!
Hope you have a better week ahead.

Thank you for your reply LowCal - it's made me a bit teary!
Today has been another bad day - I always get a mix of anger and frustration and waves of having to hold back to tears when it's bad. I do think it has got to the stage that it cannot be resolved. I've been having coaching sessions through work for this - I'm trying to implement the suggestions but it's so draining when it feels constant!
I have just been for a stomp around the block which has definitely helped. Planning on going to the gym tomorrow night too.
Hi - you are very welcome. I'm glad you went for a stomp round the block and that it helped, and also that you're planning to go to the gym tomorrow night too - I think it will hopefully help you to work out some of that frustration and upset, and also distract you from dwelling on the situation too much. Sounds like you already focus on it in your coaching sessions.
Yes, things can be very draining when they're constant.
You made me think about cherries on several occasions during the day.
You take care, and wishing you a good week, inspite of your difficult colleague. Maybe they don't realise how their behaviour is affecting you. Anyway, try to relax and enjoy your evening - without turning to the comfort foods.
Lowcal
Hi, I lost 1lb last week which I pleased with. Last week I was 12st 12lbs and week I am 12st 11lbs. I was looking after my sisters dog while her family were on holiday, so I was getting out and about and doing lots of walking. I was bad over the weekend with my food, but am happy that I have shown a loss. Only another 2st 5lbs to go.
Congratulations for losing 1 pound this week, that is great.
Great that you were doing lots of walking with your sister's dog. Glad you had a loss on the scales, despite eating more on the weekend. You're going in the right direction. Maybe pre-plan next weekend more - but maybe it won't be as much of a challenge if you're back in your own environment (i.e. no longer house sitting).
Nice to hear from you Lowcal. Next weekend will be easier as I am at home and I have an archery competition that I have entered so that day will be a long day with pasta salad and fruit for lunch, lots of water and soup for dinner. So hopefully next week will be better. I am on my last week of a mindfulness course I have been doing through future learn.com and it's taught me a lot and I am hoping the skills I am learning will help me with the weight loss.
Good luck with your Archery Competition. Great that you've doing a Mindfulness course - they were talking about the benefits of Mindfulness during the BBC news this morning.
Hi all, sorry I'm so late joining the party! I killed my mobile phone on Friday and yesterday was spent waiting for my new one to be activated.
I've had a rubbish week diet wise as my period arrived and turned me into a bad tempered Frazzle eating prosecco drinking witch :/ (weird combination, I know) as a result I was 17st 7lbs yesterday morning (2lbs on)
I'm glad the last week has seen so many losses! Keep it up peeps
Great to see you! Sorry to hear you've had some difficulties with your mobile phone, but good you've got your new one activated now.
Oh no, your period definitely put you through things this week - that 'frazzle eating prosecco drinking witch' sounds dangerous! She must leave you alone, and you must escape her spell. Hopefully just being over your period will help considerably, and you'll be feeling more like your normal lovely self in no time.
Those 2 pounds gained should soon come off again, just put it behind you and move forward into a hopefully much nicer week ahead.
Didnt sign in yesterday so apologies for late update. Lost another pound last week now weigh 12.10 that's 11lb off in 6 weeks. Now on week seven, also managed week6 of couch to 5 k and I'm halfway through week 7 just finished run 2 for the week, cannot believe I'm actually running for 25 mins. Feeling very happy right now😊
Congratulations on losing 1 pound this week, and to achieving a total of 11 pounds lost in 6 weeks, that is really great progress!
I can hear your surprise at the fact you're managing to run for 25 minutes without stopping, that is really excellent - and hope you enjoy the second half of week 7's runs. It's lovely to hear how happy you're feeling.
Hello - I am a newbie here, and after a visit to a doctor today I realised I weighed much more than I thought. So I thought - time to do something about it!
So, my weight on 19th October 2015 was 76 kilos, or 11stone 14 pounds (or 168 pounds). I would like to be 66 kilos, or 10 stones and 6 pounds, or 146lb (to be in the healthy weight range). So I am aiming to lose 10 kilos. This looks like quite a challenge. Please give encouragement and tips.
I have started running regularly in the last year (having completed Nhs couch to 5K and having run a 10k race) and my muscle tone has gone up, but I am still shocked by my weight.
Hi, thanks so much for joining us, and sharing your starting weight on 19th October, plus your goal weight. Firstly, I would recommend the NHS 12 week plan, which you can access via the icon in the top middle of this screen - titled 'Weight Loss NHS' - you can access the downloadable 12 week plan by following the links, and hopefully you'll find it a useful structure to follow. I'd recommend using an app to help you to track your calories and exercise - something like Myfitnesspal, which makes it much easier. Also, I think that pre-planning meals as much as possible can be helpful.
Great to hear you've started running regularly in the last year, and that you've completed the NHS couch to 5k, and run a 10k race - that's really great!
Try not to hang onto the initial feelings of shock you've experienced about your weight - hopefully you will leave that weight behind and get lighter as the weeks progress, and achieve your goals.
Hope to see you at next Monday's weigh-in, and good luck with your first week - it's a very friendly group and supportive too, so hope you'll enjoy being part of it.
Hi Lowcal and many congratulations on your weight loss this week. I am so very pleased for you It's really good that the scales are moving in the right direction now and I wish you good luck for your weight loss goals this week and I hope that you have had a great week up to now hun.
Your goals for Christmas sound very achievable and I am confident that you will achieve getting into the 12's by then and yes that would be amazing :-). I have 9 lbs to reach my Christmas goal and I feel confident that I will reach this goal by then to and that would take me into the 10's. So good luck to both of us, should be an interesting journey from here. Then we actually have to get through the holiday season (yikes)
Have wonderful weekend Lowcal and again good luck for Mondays weigh in x
Thank you so much, I really appreciate your kind words.
I'll do my best to try to get into the 12's, but I know it will be challenging for me!
Wow, you've got just 9 pounds to go to your Christmas goal, and you'll be in the 10's - I have every confidence you'll do it, you are so motivated and you've really got a good flow going on - yes, here's to good luck to both of us, and all the others in the Weigh-in group too.
Wishing you a great weekend, and thanks for wishing me luck for Monday's weigh-in. Good luck to you for your weigh-in too, and I'll keep a look out for that.
GM Lowcal. Not sure where this week's weigh in should go but here goes... After a great start last week I've had a really busy weekend where I've not been at home & not able to plan my meals. Spent lots of time in car so succumbed to crisps & chocolate. Result 87.4kg - a gain of 0.3 which is almost a 1lb. At least I know why and can get back on track today.
Here's the link to today's Monday weigh-in, so please just click on it and then maybe repeat your post in there, and one of us (Fab 5'ers) will respond to you. Then you can read all the current posts and everyone will 'meet' you in the current group post.
