Update 3 years on

I joined this forum in 2018 whilst at a low ebb. Thank you to everyone who posted encouragement at the time. I weighed in at 134KG then, down from my top weight of 141KG. (At my recent weigh-in, I was a whisker over 110KG). After I read the replies to my post, I went to my Buddhist altar and made a few strong determinations around reaching the best balance, good health and well-being. Since 2018, I claimed my pensions so I could go part-time at work, changed my focus on food from barring what I shouldn’t eat to making sure I get enough of what my body needs in a form that I like, and setting myself daily activity targets. Since then , I’ve had another nasty lung infection (and yes, the GP did suggest trying weight loss), more plantar fasciitis and arthritic pain in my knees, hips and feet. Even though I had already nudged myself out of the prediabetic zone, my GP signed me up for a dietician led online weight loss plan, so back to the app and the patronising advice....Oh, and there’s been this pandemic thing going on!

Working two days a week (especially remotely) has definitely helped. When the weather’s nice, I Nordic walk around a local park area by a river or find a quiet corner outdoors to practice Lam method T’ai-Chi for Arthritis. When it’s not, I still get a minimum of 10 mins brisk walking, aiming for 30. I’ve not just drastically reduced saturated fat intake, but increased Omega 3. That markedly improved my mood and focus as well as dropping my body fat by more than 10%.

I’m in for the long haul, of course. What little support I get from Oviva will be gone soon. I realise I mostly know what I need to know and although all of us need support and encouragement, it’s as much about giving as getting it! At 68, it’s time to prioritise enjoying life.

So thanks again to everyone who was there for me back then. I owe you! 🙏❤️
