You've created another new post, Ladytrucker. Please follow the link I've given you to Pinned Posts, scroll down to the third of those posts, titled Feel Good Friday Weigh in. DON'T click on Write or you'll create another thread. Read the opening post from the host, H61g , which explains what to do, then Reply to her on that post

I've changed the title on your post again so it isn't misleading. There is already a Weigh in post for today

You have done well and I understand why you have done this but ensure your food intake is balanced as you will need to be stronger both mentally and physically to get through surgery . Your immune system can be altered by extreme dieting . I don't want to put any downers on this as your will power is enviable but do take care .

Hi. How have you managed this? Is it diet or exercise or both? I’m arthritic so exercise is very difficult some days I’m unable to leave my chair due to pain. Regards Sheila

Hi. I am sorry you are in pain. I also have arthritis. I walk for at least 30 mins a day and then diet. I count my calories and cut out 95% of bread. All cake biscuits crisps chocolate. The bread i have is hovis 50 calorie and low fat spread. I avoid my favorite shops like mc D's and Greggs. Also avoid high fat foods like chips yumyum and chip buttoes were my favorite.

Basically change all my eating habits.

TBH. Since not eating so much bread and fatty foods I feel better in myself. Not so bloated of sluggish.

Now I have been doing this for 5 weeks I am quite happy passing greggs now.

Todays meal for example

45g none sugar museli and an orange for brekkie

Lunch subway roast chicken salad

Dinner home made casserole with veggies in it and 1 slice bovis

Also a snack is the alpen 65 calorie bar

Hope this all helps

Hi thank you for the reply it is very helpful to talk to someone with similar problems. On top of my arthritis I have COPD and hypothyroidism, I take mads for these amongst which are steroids all of this makes it a bit harder for me to lose weight. I am looking forward to getting back to swimming next week now lockdown has eased that is one form of exercise I can do although sometimes it’s just walking in the water for an hour. Bye for now

Have you found the Thyroid UK forum? They are really knowledgeable and helpful.

Hello and welcome back, Appletofrenchbean :)

This is a great place for information and support. I can see you've dipped your toe in a few times before and I hope this time you'll get involved with forum activities so you can chat to others and find a way of eating that works for you. The Daily Diary is a great start, and joining a weekly weigh in.

Here's a straightforward plan, for starters phcuk.org/wp-content/upload... Do you think this is something you could adapt to your tastes?

As for exercise, it plays a lesser part in losing weight but it has great value in it's own right. Here are some seated exercises nhs.uk/live-well/exercise/s... and if you google 'exercise for people with arthritis' I'm sure you'll find others.

If you follow this link healthunlocked.com/weight-l... to Pinned Posts, you'll find the things I've mentioned, plus all our other clubs and challenges. Get involved and make the most of it :)

I wont stop there tho. Its given me the drive to go further. I now want to lose another 4 and 1/2 stone to get me down to around 12 stone. So once this opp is over. Which I cant wait to be over tbh. I shall lose that extra weight. But not so quick. Would be nice to do it before Xmas tho so I can go and get a new wardrobe and splash out on a new dress hahaha
