I'm new here and need help!

Morning everyone, I gave myself a shock today so need to get my BFA in gear.

After a few weeks of what I thought was eating healthy (cutting down on fat, portion sizes etc) I decided to weigh myself this morning to find I'd put ON 7lb!! I could cry :(

I seriously need to lose around 6.5 to 7 stone as it's now causing problems with my joints (knees are shot), my love life and my moods. Other half doesn't help as he says there's nothing wrong with me but at 5'4" and 17st 5lb there really is something that needs to be done.

Any help, motivation, kicks up the rear I would really appreciate it.

No idea why that happened 😶

Anyway, same thing has been happening to me. Changed my lifestyle, never ate crap or crisps, chocolate and things anyway so didn't have much too cut out.

Ate healthy, added more fruit and veg to my diet, I cook from scratch everyday and have done now for 18 months, it's not hard, and I run my own business so I'm already somewhat active, also joined a toning place 2 months ago which I now attend 4 times a week. And after having done all this I'm still getting bigger -

Having said that, these past 5 days I've been cutting out certain foods and so far so good, certain things for me like pasta, make me feel heavy, I cut out all milk and now only drink almond milk, I'm eating 5 a day, I've uped my water intake and I take 3 Epson salt baths a week for bloating...I feel different - I've yet to weigh or measure myself as I don't want to be disappointed but remember the scales show a number that reflects a depressive mood in most people who can't lose weight. So don't stand on them for a while, find out like me what foods make you feel fuller for longer, don't boat you out etc and let your body do the talking. I'm enjoying for the moment just feeling comfortable in my own skin for the first time in a long time. The scales can "weight" 😉😄

Good luck on your journey xx

Dear lady kel

You are right something needs to be done. My husband never criticised my size but now I have lost weight he is delighted and very proud of me. I am sure your husband would love you whatever but losing weight will improve your health no end

I used a low carb approach counted calories and increased activity by walking at least 10000 steps . I have lost 15 kg over 3 months so if I can do it ( 70 yrs) you can

Best wishes

Hi to both of you LadyKel and also bandicoot1987 there is a slight chance that you guys are maybe doing what I used to do when I first joined. This was not eating enough calories at all. Check out how many calories you should be eating between to be able to lose weight on the NHS bmi calculator and make sure you eat at least this amount although I would suggest eating nearer the top amount so that you have room to drop your calories gradually as you need to if you have any problems during your journey. By eating less than these amounts advised your body thinks that your starving it and turns what you do eat into body fat and this weighs more than eating the extra calories does so it stops you from losing weight and sometimes puts weight on instead. Please don't make this same mistake as well. Good luck with your journey.

When I first started (and for me it's counting calories), I was shocked at just how many calories are in certain things (actually in a lot of things).

Check out the NHS BMI calculator to see how many calories you need to keep to, in order to lose weight then start keeping a food diary and hopefully you'll get some ideas as to where you can make positive changes.

I totally back up what Tiggerr has said.

For me writing absolutely everything down that I ate or drank really helped. Calculating the calories was very eye opening and made me think carefully about what I was thinking of eating.

Reading the daily diary on here was useful for new ideas for menus. Calorie counting and low carbs and sugars worked for me.

Do keep on trying as it can be life changing for you!

Good luck!

For me I just know it's certain foods I eat, because the last 5 days I've felt so much trimmer that I have in a long time.

I've kept a food diary for almost 2 years now, for health and personal reasons but counting calories isn't for everyone, if it works for some people that's absolutely great but each individual has to find what works for them.

I've just come to realise that if I debloat myself there is evidence of weight loss underneath the big bag of air I call my tummy...even wore a clingy top out last night and had several comments from friends which made me feel great about myself!

It's all about finding what works for you and feeling comfortable in our own skin I thought I was just getting fat as it turns out biggest part of my problem is having excess gas 😃 xx
