If you want something slightly quicker to grab a smoothie or even just a banana would hit the spot before a workout :) but make sure you eat well later on if you’re only having a banana before :)

Yes I would say it’s too late for a meal at that time as you want to aim to have your last meal at least 3-4 hours before bed.

It would be sensible to eat your meal before your workout on those days, you don’t want anything too heavy as it will make you feel sick during your work outs, but you need enough carbohydrates to keep you going!

So try and stay away from grains and refined sugar as that’s what will make you feel most sick during the workout, unless you are able to eat 2 hours before?

As above eggs, avocado, vegetables should keep you going :)

Stir fry omitting the noodles, omelette, ratatouille.

Stay away from sandwiches, pasta dishes, chocolate/ sweets, crisps/chips etc as they will all make you feel nauseas when you start moving

Absolutely fine to have a snack to keep you going post workout when you get home too, perhaps a protein shake or apple and peanut butter?

Hope this helps :)

Frankly, I wouldn't eat at all. Or if you must eat something, maybe a boiled egg and a glass of milk. Have a big meal afterwards.

A couple of options:

1) Porrage Oats about 40g with Semi-skimmed milk about 200ml and Sultanas about 20g.

2) Fruit Smoothie made with about 150ml fat free greek yogurt, ice and 3 pieces of fruit (Nectarine, Apple, Banana, Grapes, Pineapple, Honeydew Mellon, Pear, Strawberry, Peach, Summer Berries) or you could use 300ml of fat free greek yogurt with ice and 5 or 6 items of fruit and consume half before exercise and the remainder once your exercise set has been completed.

I trust this helps.

Low Fat Greek Youghurt, about 90p for 1ltr in tesco use that as a base for a fruit smoothie with the fruits I have mentioned shall keep you feeling fuller for longer and speed up one's metabolism.

Greek yoghurt is the future, i would re think the low fat stuff though to make it low fat they take stuff out but have to add other things in to make it taste edible resulting in higher sugar content which body stores and changes to fat i went to full fat and just reduced portion size and sweetened it with fresh or frozen fruit my chosen fruit at the minute is frozen mango but im sure this will change by the weekend .

The ingredients and calorie content combined with the price point is sustainable.

When I use it as a base for my pre-training smoothie it does what I require.

Utility theory was one of the main concepts I mastered during my school and college days and I have just learnt to apply it a little better in my mid years 🙂.

I do agree about full fat. More filling, more tasty, less processed and you get the fat-soluble vitamins we need.

Hi Lilly, I am glad someone raised the dairy Youghurt v vegan Youghurt question and also regarding dairy Milk v vevan Milk.

Unlike the so called politicians with a Social conscience I am a true man of the people.

I appreciate veganism however the price point is non comparable to dairy.

On the ground of my true allegiance to the people of this country I refuse to accept the vegan dairy alternatives because of their artificially inflated price point. This also enables me to respect my ancestry as I come from a dairy & arable farming background and I support the efforts of all the good and decent dairy and arable farmers of the United Kingdom and Europe.

However I thank you for raising this important question.

With thanks and kind regards Tony.

Usually I eat one banana 30min before my gym workout (when I used to go to the gym, I mean :D). It would give me enough energy to deal with the exercises without feeling hungry.

Because I would arrive late at home after training (that would be around 9PM), I would have only one glass of whole milk and that would be all for the day.

But hey, I'm no nutricionist so maybe there are better options.
