Does anyone have tips for how to start having an impact on waist size? I'm over the moon to have lost 1 and half stone since mid July, don't get me wrong! But here's the thing, my waist has only gone down by half an inch and I know you will have some great advice.
I'm in my early fifties, on HRT and levothyroxine, currently at 12st 8lbs (5ft 6in). I'm exercising (walking and cardio-tone and also specific abs exercises most days). Do you think that this belly fat will go with the last stone I need to lose or does anyone have any ideas????
It's not a major issue, just a niggle and am wondering if there's something I could be doing???
Thank you x x

Hi Tarfgi, I am in a similar situation to you, my weight size has only gone down a bit, although I have lost 2 1/2 stone and am exercising, including abs, 4 days a week. So I will be eager to see the replies to your post.🙂
Hi Tarfgi, thanks for your support, my goal is to get down to 10 1/2 stone, so a way to go yet. I am only 5 ft 4 inches, so my BMI must be higher than yours as you are a bit taller. I am aged 57 and am also on HRT. You have done really well, what is your target weight?
It will probably go as you get nearer your target. Our bodies are the ones that “choose” where the fat goes from, although generally the least required fat goes first, often from the face. You could try upping your water intake and if you are eating carbs cut the amount of white ones (the water stored with carbs will the be released and possibly help to reduce your middle). If you are a natural apple shape then you might not lose all of your tummy.
As for exercise, that will help you get fitter and more toned but it won’t help lose the fat, sorry.
I was searching for some info about that and apparently weighted hula hoops could potentially be useful 😊 obviously may not be advisable to some, depending on their health conditions. but I had decided to try and got one. Tried a few times and was absolutely hopeless 😂 but today something clicked and I was hula hooping away, while watching tv. Felt like a nice work out afterwards, no idea if it will help the waist line, but I intend to carry on, still some exercise on those days when I can’t be bothered to get myself out 😊
Let me know how you get on 😊 it took a while for me to manage to keep it spinning and now I’m trying to get myself able to spin in the other direction - another challenge 😂
You just have more of your fat cells around your waist, some people have more on the hips, some have them spread about the body. It will go but the first place you put it on is the last place it goes from. Keep using more calories than you take in and in time it will reduce. The secret is there is no secret but it sounds like you have that worked out. Well done for what you have achieved so far.

Hi, you seem to be doing the right things. Have you tried Callanetics? I found I dropped a dress size simply by following the routine twice a week for a couple of months (no dieting). Its been around for a while but the revised version is good and back/joint friendly, called Callanetics Evolution. You can focus on specific areas too. HOWEVER it wont get rid of fat....it simply tones muscles BUT when that happens you feel much better/more confident and sticking to a healthy eating programme is much easier. Hope that helps.
Well done for finding an exercise routine that works for you, are you still on a weight loss journey?

We've found active participation to be key to successful weight loss and, of course, it's a good way to get to know people, find inspiration and share support and encouragement.
I was doing Lucy Wyndham 7 minute belly fat workouts on You Tube religiously every day for a while and they did really tone me up (didn't get rid of fat mind you, though I did trim up)
Currently I haven't been exercising due to an injury and I notice the difference.
I have noticed since I am in my fifties my belly fat seems more stubborn, though I have lost inches off my waist.
