Hi all,

I'm about to re-start the NHS 12 week plan after having my Daughter.

I need to lose around 5 stone but I've got a really sweet tooth :(

Meals have been planned but I'm struggling for healthy snacks.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Many thanks

Becky

Glad you are back with us hunny 😊 Not much help snack ways as I tend to just eat meals rather than graze. What is your thing, sweet or savoury? 😋

Hi Shellie,

I've got a very sweet tooth, I'm afraid.

I'm using MyFitnessPal to log my calories etc but I seem to go over on the sugar :(

My Daughter is fed on demand, so I find it easier to eat smaller meals and snacks when I can, rather than sticking to a rigid plan.

So are you breastfeeding? Your calories requirements will be different if you are - is that factored into the plan.

My favourite sweet foods are things like banana, yoghurt and honey.

Whatever works for you is always the best way to go. I will search through my recipe books to try and find some lowcal snacks, though it may take me a while. 😊

My Daughter is fed a mixture of breast and bottle. I am aware that this can burn up to 600 calories a day. I am aiming for lifestyle changes, rather than a 'diet' as such and I am using the NHS 12 week plan as a tool to help me achieve this.

Perhaps I shouldn't be counting calories quite so obsessively but I do seem to have a real problem with staying away from refined sugar.

Yes a lifestyle change is the right attitude to have. Just be sure that you're counting enough calories to cover the BFing too. Good luck!

If you are breastfeeding do not take any sort of herbs or teas without speaking to your GP. Some of the caffeine or whatever in these teas can be passed to your child.

Janeme could you please stop pushing this tea in here - it's irritating.

It's great that you've lost weight but I'd prefer to hear about your diet plan and exercise regime than hear about herbal tea which has very little, if anything, to do with weight loss.

Every post you've made mentions it - it's "hope in a bottle" and it's sad to see that pushed on people who might be feeling desperate/vulnerable anyway.

I'd love to hear more about your weight loss experience but l don't buy into teas, magic pills and so forth and don't agree with BFing women or people with potential heart conditions, blood pressure problems and so on being recommended to try them.

I'm sure others will disagree and this will be all I have to say on the matter but please consider the wide range of people that might read this.

Hi Becky - we've been putting together a few healthy snack ideas on this thread - hope you find something useful :-)

Perhaps a few Tibetan herbs would help you steer that bike correctly :-D

Or at least dull the pain when I crash :D

I heard at least 3 people telling how this really worked for them. I am very tempted ;)

Hi all, I will definitely not be touching anything without speaking to my GP first.

As I said, I am looking to make lifestyle changes and hopefully lose the weight in the process.

I need to cut down on the sugary drinks and snacks and take more exercise.

I also need to up my fruit and veg intake to make sure I get my five a day.

I like creme caramel, they're yoghurt pot size but only 98 cals and taste like toffee mysupermarket.co.uk/aldi-pr.... Or chocolate jumbo snack a jacks.

Have I missed something? Tibetan tea? What are you all waffling on about? lucca10, moreless, Lizzie383040. enlighten me please, I am intrigued.

Sorry to hijack your post Becky1712, but I am a nosey mare, lol. 😮

Hi Becky :-) as MrsCMH suggested chocolate snack a jacks are delicious, also the caramel flavoured ones are very tasty & sweet. dark chocolate, with a high percentage, 70% or so of cocoa, is less 'bad' for you than milk chocolate. just a small square or 2 though at a time. bananas are very sweet when left to ripen almost fully black on the skin. delicious on toast, don't need honey or butter. greek yoghurt with a dollop of good quality honey is a tasty snack. xo
