Hiya I'm the New kid on the block, been up and down with my weight forever 12.5 stone and hoping to work my way back to 11. I think I'm a stress eater and although I love the gym I can only push to Pilates and yoga due to back problems. I walk an hour daily to and from work and try really hard with my food eating lots of chicken, fish, veg and fruit. I just can't seem to move from the mark. Any advice would be greatly appreciated 😊

Trying to lose weight
Hi and welcome, TG
Take a look at the Pinned posts section to the right of your screen (bottom if you're using a mobile), or in the drop down on the 'Posts' page (it says 'arrange by'). Read the Welcome Newbie thread, then move through to the challenges, where we hope you'll find at least one that will appeal to you.
Move down to the Topics, to find a variety of threads, collated into specific topics for ease of access and we ask that you also 'file' your own threads, so that others won't miss your important news.
Take a look at the NHS 12 week plan, as a lot of people have been successful with it, making sure to enter your details into the BMI calculator, to get a calorie allowance tailored to your personal requirements. Don't forget to take your starting measurements and a 'before' picture, as they can be very motivating on days that the scales refuse to co-operate.
We run a weigh-in every day of the week and you'd be very welcome to join one of them. The threads can always be found in the Events section, to the right of the HOME page, bottom on a mobile.
We also run a Daily Diary, where we share our meal and exercise plans for the day. It's a great place to get ideas and to keep us focused. The link can also be found in Events.
Be aware, that the HU app doesn't give you access to all of our important features, so we advise that you use the full website page.
We've found that to get the best out of this community, we need to be active on the forum, as it's where we exchange information, get motivation and inspiration and make friends. We hope that you'll join us here, regularly, too.
It's only left for me to wish you well on your journey
One and a half stone is not too much to lose. And it sounds to me like you're doing everything right! Walking for an hour a day is excellent exercise. You may need to calorie count if you are not doing this already. Or, if you're like me and find calorie counting excruciatingly boring, so boring that it makes you want to chew your own leg off*, then maybe just keep it simple by sticking to three meals a day, no second helpings, no desserts, no alcohol (but with small exceptions maximum twice a week). This is what I have done during my 6 month weight loss journey, and it worked for me. *Also a good way to lose weight.
Welcome to the forum. I am losing weight for my wedding despite the fact that my fiancé and I haven't set a date yet. I am following Slimming World but weighing in at my mum's instead of going to meetings because I am saving for my wedding and I am in the process of moving. I have lost 5 1/2 lbs in 4 weeks. I really like this forum and appreciate the support I get from other members as well as friends and family.
Hi TG0905 and welcome to the forum.
There is so much help to be found on here so read as many posts as you can.
I know how hard exercise is with a bad back as I have 2 discs out at the bottom of my spine, a couple of 'iffy' ones ( doctors words) and I have had neck surgery to remove 2 discs and fuse my lower neck also have arthritis, fibromyagia and achilles tendonitis among other things so falling apart really.
In the last 2 weeks since starting on here I have lost 3lb but I am actually eating more. Have you checked your bmi on nhs site to see what your daily calorie requirements are because if you aren't eating enough then you won't lose the weight
Good luck

Mine is prolapsed discs so frustrating cause the cardio classes I love are a big no so sticking to Pilates but feel no change with that. I think I'm impatient it's like hey I started eating and exercising a week ago why haven't I dropped 2 dress sizes already 😂.
I used to cycle a lot and can't do that at the moment but I am hoping that by losing weight and taking s lol)ome pressure off the discs will free the nerves and allow me to get on the exercise bike.
At the moment I walk as much as possible and go swimming when I can. Any extra movement will help even doing housework burns a few calories so does mowing the grass ( my workout today) so don't give up hope, you can do this

Thanks so much everyone for the advice, I am thinking seriously about going to Slimmers world for the motivation of the weekly weigh in.
