I was in icu with Covid 19 from Feb - March I'm in long term recovery. I have put 2stone on since being out of hospital due to lack of mobility. The extra weight I'm carrying is making it even harder. So here I am to make a start . Need to get back to my old self. What exercise can I do as my lungs are a bit damaged at the moment ?

Welcome back, joanne68 :)

I'm so sorry to hear of your scary bout of Covid 19. My advice would be to concentrate on eating good wholesome food and leave exercise to any movement that doesn't make you breathless. Gentle walking would be more than enough initially.

This is a simple eating plan which encourages eating only real food healthunlocked.com/api/redi...

As it's been a long time since you were last here, all of the information you need about the forum can be found in Pinned Posts healthunlocked.com/nhsweigh... and I hope you'll be joining all the Events, Challenges and Clubs that we run, especially a weigh-in and the daily diary.

So sorry to hear of your illness but very pleased you are out of hospital and able to slowly but surely recover.

I recommend focusing on reducing foods that cause inflammation by reducing your carbs and eating healthy fats- avocado, fish like salmon and mackerel and meat for protein. Cut out all bread pasta rice potatoes and of course all sweets sugar cake pastries and biscuits. I lost my post-trauma weight by following LCHF and didn’t follow an exercise regime as such just slowly increased the amount of steps I took each day through walking short distances and listening to my body. I wouldn’t overdo it.

I’m not a clinician so please follow medical advice. This is my opinion based on recent science I have read and my own experience.

I hope you begin to mend well. Take it nice and slow.
