Hi, I'm just starting at this so I'm a bit nervous but really want to succeed in losing weight. I went to see my GP and we ended up talking about my weight. My BMI is 36.5! I have to lose weight before I develop any serious health problems. I'm nervous because the stakes are so high but I find it really difficult. Wish me luck!

No need to be nervous. Only friendly people here who want to do well and want you to do likewise.
To get the most, follow the link that Minnie has provided. Read as much as you can, especially the NHS 12 week plan, which many here are following.
After that, I suggest just trying to come here as much as possible. Reading the posts and replies is a good way to stay motivated as they can be very inspirational as well as informative.
Good luck!
Thank you. I've printed out the 12 week plan and am ready to go!
It's up there with one of the best things I've ever done in my life. Once I ran the NHS BMI calculator to find my calorie range, it was then a case of following the tips and suggestions in the plan.
Shout out if you have any questions as the forum is full of happy, helpful and informative people.
Do not look at the hill to climb, look at the step in front of you begin.
Hello focusbest and well done for taking your first step to a healthier you 😊 It may seem very daunting but you will find many people on this forum who are embarking on similar journeys or who can inspire you based on what they’ve already achieved. Just break it down into small targets and take your time. Very best of luck!
Hi focusbest . I'm sure the nerves will soon go . Plan your meals and don't buy anything in that could sway you . I keep 100 calories spare for a treat sometimes though . I like a hot chocolate drink at night and find Aero instant has less than 100 cals in it but you can buy ones with less . Take this as positive not punishment. The main thing is you have started so well done and keep posting .
Thank you - day one seems to have gone well. Hope I can keep it up!
Especially on a freezing cold day like today. My white chocolate drink at 60(ish) calories is waiting for me round about half past eight.
Hi
Don't need to be nervous . Here are non-judgemental people, ready to help you.
Time to make a plan adjusted to your needs. Find your favourite healthy food, reduced your sweets, alcohol, smoking ( if it's the case) , drink plenty water , count your calories in and have some physical activities ( walking, running, biking etc) .
Explore the forum , log in daily ( it's a tool for keeping you motivated and positive).
Stick at the plan and do not give up. Your results will appear. You'll see.
Good luck and let's start the journey!!!😣🤗🤗
Good luck! Take baby steps! I once heard someone say - just do more than you did before’. If you keep to that and keep pushing gently - you’ll get there. X

Good luck.
We are all here to help you as we have all been through it. Many of us still have a long way to go, including me. You will get there in the end, even if the end seems to be a long time coming. Better the slow and sure, as you teach your body what it should be eating/drinking over a period of time. Quick diets are all very well, but it doesn't train you for the long term after the excess poundage is gone.
This is similar to what most people have said - after having been not healthy and really struggling for a good few weeks, I’m now just taking it one day at a time. We’re up to 3 days completely healthy and I don’t feel demotivated at all. Every day you are healthy is better than if you were eating more unhealthily.
