Hi, I have been doing couch to 5k and I am on week eight. So pleased with myself. Now I want to tackle healthy eating, I have been doing keto diet with no success. Just want some tips where to start. I would like to lose a stone. I feel better in myself with the running, but disappointed I have not lost any weight. The forum for couch to 5k has been amazing and got me to week eight. So thought I would join this one for advice tips etc,
Need help : Hi, I have been doing couch... - Weight Loss Support
Need help
I need to lose the same amount of weight as you. I did this two years ago and it has slowly crept back on. For me calorie counting works every time. I was amazed at how much I was eating when I weighed my food and slowly reduced the portions. I do have treats but then I realise how far I have to run to burn off the calories.
Good luck and keep posting.
Hi and welcome, Nicky2603
If you log your meal plans on the daily diary, we'll be able to offer more informed advice and you may also like to join the LCHF forum healthunlocked.com/lchf-diet
It is unusual that you've lost nothing, but you didn't say how long you've been following a keto way of eating. Maybe you just need to be patient a little longer.
All of the information you need about the forum can be found in Pinned Posts healthunlocked.com/nhsweigh... and I hope you'll be joining all the Events, Challenges and Clubs that we run, especially a weigh-in and the daily diary.
We've found active participation to be key to successful weight loss and, of course, it's a good way to get to know people, find inspiration and share support and encouragement.
Wishing you all the best
I'd be amazed that keto doesn't work for you. There are some people that happens for, but it's pretty rare. Are you keeping your carbs below 20g/day? And how are you measuring them?
(I have probably not been in ketosis much, except while fasting, so this is more based on reading rather than personal experience)
I do think it could be portion control was doing the diet doctor.
With a low carb diet, it's best to eat to appetite rather than controlling portions. The aim is to get back that sense of appetite and fullness we were born with and messed up along the way.
I agree with the suggestions of posting your meal plans on the Daily Diary and chatting with others there about their choices
The only thing I can think of is portion control. You could ease off carb reduction slightly to around 50g/day, stay tough on sugar and make sure you have some healthy fats.
But tight portion control snacks (so for example 2 crackers with cream cheese is one of a couple of daily snacks). In effect that would give you some level of calorie control without actually doing calorie counting nor losing the benefits of carb reduction.
