Today I have made the decision to do something about myself having weighted in at 18 stone 6 which is the heaviest I have every been.
Previously had good results using slimming groups but I want something that is a forever fix to my relationsbip with food so am giving the live well plan a go from tomorrow.
Planned my food in, if all goes to plan I will eat around 1200kcal (max 1900 allowed), and pencil in a good dog walk to get moving.
Any tips, support, advice or positivity most welcome

The best advice I can give is have enough to eat. If you are following the NHS 12 Week plan then the 1400 calorie target suggested is a just generic amount, please check your own personal calorie target using the BMI checker, it’s often higher than you think. We always advise starting towards the top of the range, being hungry is the biggest cause of weight loss failure And undereating will not make you lose fat any faster .
What you eat is also important. Fat is no longer believed to be the bad guy, it’s an essential nutrient and essential for satiety. Please read this for a more detailed explanation. healthunlocked.com/nhsweigh...
I realise that’s quite a lot of information but please ask if you have any questions
I agree with Indigo. I think 'what' you eat is more important than 'how few calories' you eat. If you're hungry all day, that's problematic. A diet that leaves you satisfied after every meal is sustainable and is the 'forever fix.
A long journey but I'm getting there. I too started out at 1200 calories which gave an initial loss but then everything stopped. I went to see an NHS dietician. She put me up to 1600 calories and the weight started to go again. Yes the progress is maybe slower than I'd hoped but it is staying off and my eating habits are so much better now.
People on this forum told me I was eating too little at 1200 but honestly for your start weight you really do need more calories.
Good luck. It's daunting when you think you've got huge amounts to lose, but setting small targets, of a couple of kg has helped me. You can do it, especially with the help of this site. You don't have to lose massive amounts quickly, but every pound lost is a pound healthier, and something to be proud of. Best wishes.
Thanks everyone for your words of encouragement, it is daunting to think how much I need to lose, but I know what I need to do and will definitely join in the weight in, thank you Lytham for pointing this out to me
Day 1 1480, well under the 1900 suggested and I found some different foods to keep me satisfied, evening meal was simple and amazing salmon, golden veg (steam pack), cherry tomatoes and a sweet pepper 400 Cal's in total
Hi BT, just wondering how you are getting on? I am in my second week, like you I have had more ‘new starts’ than I can remember. I have lost 6 st on four occasions, have put 60 lbs back on over the last 15 months. I have read a lot of information about LCHF plan, it’s something I haven’t tried before so decided to give it a go. It felt strange buying High Fat everything, but I am getting on okay, lost 4 1/2lbs in 10 days, so fingers crossed. It can be a bit overwhelming when you first join the forum, everyone is very supportive and there is loads of interesting information. Good luck with whatever you decide to do.😊
