Newbie - disappointed with myself but starting again

Hi all,

I am a newbie - Its hard to write this but I am here because I was already very obese and have managed to put on another 14lbs during lockdown. My mostly sedentary job has become completely sedentary working from home, and I have an adult son living with me for now who is a great cook and is willing to walk the dog.

I know I need to make another commitment to losing weight and getting fitter this time for good as I am 58 and its getting dangerous.(I have been losing 2 stone and getting marginally fitter using a variety of methods every couple of years and then putting it back on plus another stone for about 12 years now).

Today I weigh 260 lbs and my initial goal is to get to 245 which was my previous highest ever wieght :(

Please be gentle with me....

Hello and welcome, Glinnick :)

These past few months have been strange for us all, without our usual routines, social contacts and activities. And it does get harder to lose weight and keep it off, as we grow older. This post gives an explanation healthunlocked.com/nhsweigh... and is supported by this phcuk.org/wp-content/upload...

This is a great place for information and support and I hope you'll throw yourself into forum life. Why not give yourself 15-20 minutes every day to come here, read posts, chat to others and join in activities? You'll find everything you need in Pinned Posts by following this link healthunlocked.com/nhsweigh... A good place to start is by joining a weekly weigh in on the day of your choice (why not today?) and using the Daily Diary, where members share their meal plans. You'll find them very interactive.

All the best :)

Hey.. I'm a newbie on here too. I think your not alone. Plenty of people will have gained some weight during what can be a stressful time during lockdown. Be kind to yourself and good luck on your journey

A.. welcome! Some good tips here to get started. I hope to see you around. I really like the daily diaries, which have taught me a lot about different eating plans that are working for people, and also is a very supportive group!

yes welcome to you xx I sometimes wonder how I have spent my whole adult life putting weight on and then losing it but I'm not dwelling on that anymore. Being here daily is so good for me and I'm sure it will be for you too. you can be totally honest, frank and support others as well as supporting yourself 🙃 Nice to have you on board
