Hi how are you all? I live in rural Australia in the highlands and very happy to join weigh in Friday’s. But just wondering if that’s always a thing this group does? I need to talk to people going through the same thing as i have to lose weight and do it the normal way, learn to change my patterns and eat less. I’m not a candidate for surgery yet and not sure I want to do that. I have had lots of weight loss and control in the past and feel I can do it again. I also have medication that changes satiety so that’s the main thing. Can’t come off it, so going to have to re learn. Definitely need you good people to start off though. Do most people weigh in once a week or so to stay guided?
Hi from Australia : Hi how are you all... - Weight Loss Support
Hi from Australia
Yeah, that's how it works. You pick a day of the week - mine and yours is Friday! - and always weigh in that day, so we get to know each other.
I was really sceptical when I started in January, but Hidden was so welcoming, I haven't missed a weigh in since.
The other regular thing I take part in is the daily diary. It reminds me to plan my meals (even if I am just eating cake that day!) and gives me so many food ideas.
Welcome back, Claudeminh
We've run daily weigh-ins for over 3 years and weekly for about 4 years before that. They are very popular and I'm sure the Feel Good Friday Folk will welcome you to their weigh-in with open arms
I believe from your last post that you have an problem with low carb diets because of a blood sugar issue, so I'm going to tag Hidden who has a similar 'quirk', but is able to manage it with a low carb way of eating. It may also help your migraines.
As a reminder, all of the information you need about the forum can be found in Pinned Posts healthunlocked.com/nhsweigh... and I hope you'll be joining all the Events, Challenges and Clubs that we run, especially a weigh-in and the daily diary.
We've found active participation to be key to successful weight loss and, of course, it's a good way to get to know people, find inspiration and share support and encouragement.
Wishing you all the best
Thanks for making the introduction. I have something called neuroglucopenia which just means that my body is inefficient at getting sugars & ketones to my brain. So I have hypoglycaemia type/hangry symptoms without being actually hypoglycaemic. This is makes it harder to lose weight as I need to eat more often than most people. BUT I have found the symptoms have greatly lessened by eating a low carb diet. I can go between meals without snacks now, which I could not in January. I can’t do the fasting thing which lots of people here do. I am now slim & athletic looking but will never be skinny because my brain will not accept less food than I eat now. But hey.
Thanks for that and nice to meet you
