Calories counting

Hi I’m really struggling with calories counting. I find it difficult to weigh everything and find the exact calories that food contains. I have tried the calories counting from nhs and I was having salmon and salad. I typed salmon and loads of types of salmon came up - not fresh home prepared ones. I’ve given up 2 diets as I couldn’t keep track of calories. Does anyone know of a very easy, hassle free way to do this?

Thank you 😊

It’s a bit of a challenge as you will not always get the accurate calories down. I use MyFitnessPal up for calorie counting. Mostly if the item have a bar code I just scan the bar code and weigh the amount (for example if I eat muesli daily, I just use a cup to weigh the first time and continue using the same cup everyday and just put the same recording which means I don’t have to weigh my cereal everyday unless I change to a different one. Sometimes it’s challenging though as many items don’t come with a bar code.

MyFitnessPal saves all the items you put in which makes it easy if you eat kind of similar items and amounts.

Not sure 🤔 if that is helpful

Hello and welcome to the forum DeSouza,

I see you have already received some advice :)

Many of us don't count calories,(life is too short) we follow the Low Carb High fat diet. Including good fats in your diet will keep you full and eating low carb will stop cravings and the need to snack between meals. Eat until you are full and then stop.

There is lots of information on DietDoctor.

We are all different and what works for one, won't necessarily works for others, but it's worth a try :)

If you haven't already, please take the time to read the Welcome Newbie post, this will help you to navigate the forum, which is best done using the full website and not the app.

Please also take a look at all of the Challenges, Clubs and Events that we have, to help to keep you motivated and engaged with the forum.

Hello and congratulations on keeping on trying g and not giving up! I’ve used My FitnessPal and it’s quite easy. But if that’s too tricky, why not try something that suits you. Just write down everything you eat and use a sensible calculation. Good luck
