Counting calories: Could anyone... - Weight Loss Support
Counting calories
I used pen and notebook and looked things up on Google. Many people use apps such as MyFitnessPal. I think the best way is the way that works for you.

I use MFP to track food and I try to weigh as much as I can.
Hi I look the calories up on the nhs calorie counter, then write it down ! Have you joined the easter challenge yet ? (Its under pinned posts) good luck !
I use the lose it app it works for me
I was using MFP but found the calories really low. Since finding out my bmi and calories I should be having I've been using fat secret. I'm finding it great it is similar to MFP as it has a database of foods and a camera to take photos of the bar codes. You can also adjust the calories that you are allowed and I have linked my Fitbit too. At the end of the day I can see how many calories I've used against how many I've eaten so can see my deficit. Especially good if I've gone over the day before
Hi Mandyflatt, just a thought for you to consider and read up about. I used to count calories and go for low fat foods (baked potatoes, baked beans, dry toast). I’ve changed my way of thinking since reading about how the body treats carbs and fats differently - 1000 calories of sugar is not treated the same as 1000 calories of fat. The sugar will cause a sugar spike in bloodstream and insulin will shunt it straight to fat and weight gain. I’ve had success losing weight, reducing cravings by going low carb high fat, and have stopped counting calories.
Thank you,I will xx
I find the old pen and paper is best for me. its not as time consuming as you think. It also lets you have a bit of "me time" to slow down and think about your day.
