I'm making seriously slow progress with getting back on track with healthy eating and losing weight.
I feel really conscious of my thoughts around diet and body image at the moment and keep catching myself beating myself up about how bad my diet is. But I've been able to decide not to feed into them thoughts and instead ask myself: "what's going well?!". Even if it's just that I had a small portion of roasted veg that day and enough hydration, it feels good to notice.
I'm thinking about starting a positivity thread for a week, where people can leave a comment about whatever it is that has gone well for them that day.
I don't want to make the thread full or rules and do's and dont's, as ideally I'd like it to be a relaxed thread, but I'm concerned potential comments like "I didn't give into a craving today" might trigger others cravings to become worse.
All thoughts around how the thread might look/work would be appreciated.
I'm starting to feel motivated to try and lose a pound this week - so it's progress! 😊😊😊

Thanks - This actually looks amazing and is along the lines of what I had in mind but it has a lot of elements to it. I'm thinking something a lot more basic and just around food achievements.
You never know if you post something if it will have a positive or negative effect on someone else. You can only post what has worked for you so "no rules" must mean that. If posting a thread would help you, then go for it!
Good morning MintTeaMascara and a Happy New Year (I don’t think I’ve spoken to you yet?)
You’re not alone in struggling to retain control, I think it’s the time of year, I’ve been ill and everyone around me is ill and I’m also struggling. Focussing on the positive is a good idea, for m any reasons, so my positive is a full day without sweet things, which is hard as the freezer still holds some slices of cake 😩
Lastly, have you seen SquirrelNutkins “January Nutty Natterings”? You might like to read and post on there. But if you wish to host and post a Positivity thread then feel free, it’s your forum!
I haven't joined the Happiness Celebration thread but I know members who get a great amount out of it and Healthy Tanya has kept it going for ages now. Do have a look, you'd find a ready made group with similar concerns to you
That sounds good, something you can sustain. You could get some ideas on the Daily Diary and see the sort of eating patterns that people are finding sustainable. Worth a browse even if you don't join in.
Yeah I joined the daily diary for a couple of months and lost half a stone but then went away and put it all back on. The daily diary isn't something I feel was right for me as I wasn't looking for a complete overhaul of diet and lifestyle but just subtle changes.
Might end up being just that little boost that some of us need.
Hi MTM this reminds me of a series of posts I did 3 years ago, also in january!
I say go for it if you want to start a mini positivity thread. Sounds like you have a good idea there Here are all the posts from the mini challenge I did back then maybe some ideas there are still useful
By the way I notice you haven't "locked" this thread. You'll be more likely to get a range of replies if people see the little padlock at the top of the thread. Otherwise anyone can see all our comments on google (and other search engines) not just people signed up on here...
I think I’m in a very similar situation as you and resonate a lot of what you’re saying. Even tho I’m at healthy BMI I’m still at the top end and would like to lose so I’m more in the mid range.
I been on diets longer then I remember and never been slim. My case is not I have been slim but put on because if pregnancy or lifestyle change etc. I have always been overweight and have a complex relationship with food.
This time round, first time ever I have been kinder to myself and I actually think that’s why it’s working!! How simple but effective BUT so difficult when you always have been your hardest critic.
It isn’t easy as usually when I binge eat I always come down hard on myself how useless and you’re never going to use the weight etc and the result is giving up. I would never speak to a friend who’s trying to lose weight so why do I say it to myself?!!
Self love it’s taking me more then a year to actually get somewhere and I’m still on the journey.
I personally love your idea and would comment if I see it posted. The happiness thread I have looked at but thought it was too much to get my head round if I’m honest and probably have trouble filling in.
But great that it works so well for others.
Have you heard of Liz josefberg target 100
I tried to send you a YouTube video of her but it’s not letting me for some reason. I found her interview very interesting.
I think it is all about learning to be a kind friend to ourselves and also determination and not completely letting ourselves slide at times of difficulty.
Just realised how long this is - the intro sounds like it has some benifical information in there. Thanks - I'm hopeful going to watch this this evening
