Firstly, many thanks to the Fab 5'ers team for keeping this thread healthy and enthusiastic over the past 3 weeks - Prin, you did a sterling job of posting the thread in my absence, and I am so impressed by the weekly stats for last week - Ruth_Canal_Runner (our wonderful Fab 5'er and stats woman) informed me that there was a marked increase in the number of people who lost weight last Monday, compared to the week before, and that the total amount lost is also significantly larger. So we're collectively shifting pounds rant away!!! That's impressive, especially considering we're into the festive Season now! Really well done everyone - you are all brightly shining stars!!!
I managed to join in the weigh-in on Tuesday last week (a day late), and I weighed 13 stone 1.6 pounds. Today I weigh exactly 13 stone, so I've lost 1.6 pounds this week. As many of you know, I was away from the forum for about 3 weeks previously, and before I went away I weighed 13 stone 4.0 pounds (on 16th November), so I've lost 4 pounds since then. I am no longer using Myfitnesspal to count my calories, but I am still keeping a written diary of my food and drink intake, as it helps keep me mindful of my intake and exercise. I was very pleased to see a loss on the scales when I got back. It was hard to keep myself in check, but I was very busy and was rushing around a lot of the time, so I guess I used up more energy than I realised.
Many of my Christmas Do's are this week, so I am aware it's going to be a challenging week ahead. Therefore, I have joined the gym for a 3 month period, and I will be going for my first gym session in absolutely ages - and I plan to go later this morning, so wish me luck! Normally I would join a gym in January, but I felt I need to challenge myself and try to finally push myself into the 12's - that's my Christmas goal, as many of you know. Therefore, I plan to do at least 3 gym sessions this week.
The Fab 5'ers are:
Myself (Lowcal)
Prin,
Suzybenj,
Ruth_Canal_Runner
and
Moreless
and one or more of us will be here today to respond to anyone who joins us for this Monday weigh-in - we all have commitments at different parts of the day, but rest assured that at some point in the day you will receive a response. Everyone is welcome, and if you're new, then please join us and introduce yourself. You can share your starting weight (if you feel comfortable to do so) and your goals for the week. We also encourage everyone to interact and respond to posts in order to encourage one another - we are a friendly group - it's a supportive forum, and we hope that together we can work towards achieving our various goals and aspirations.
I read through last week's thread and was really happy to see how well everyone is doing, and the stats speak for themselves. Thanks again to Ruth for her diligence and aptitude to produce such great stats:
Total people posting on last Monday's thread: 61
Total overall weight lost: 80.34 pounds (36.44 kilos)
Total people who lost weight: 44 (86.84 pounds lost) (39.39 kilos)
Total people who gained weight: 5 (6.5 pounds gained) (2.95 kilos)
Total people who maintained their weight: 10
Total people starting out on their weight loss journey/plan: 2
Total people who didn't disclose their weight gain/loss: 0
My goal for this week is to try to lose something, any loss on the scales would make me feel brilliant, as it would mean I'd be into the elusive 12's... I know how challenging this time of year is, but I would still love to be in the 12's by Christmas. Many of you have encouraged me that I can achieve the 12's, so I hope to do so very soon.
I am looking forward to catching up with people today, and hope you are all happy and healthy and enjoying your week so far.

I am 53.9 kg today which means I am maintaining at around 54 kg. Very happy with that! (Technically a .2 loss after last weeks .2 gain) who stays exactly the same when maintaining? I am really content to say I am maintaining!
Really great to hear you're doing so well with your maintenance goal - being 53.9 kg today is great! A 0.2 loss this week for the stats. You're right you're bound to fluctuate - that's what weight tends to do.
Congratulations on maintaining and achieving your goal to maintain.
Welcome back Lowcal as you say the crew have done a great job whilst you've been away. Happy to say despite a family do I have lost the 1lb I put on last week so back to 12 st 12 lbs so onwards and downwards despite 2 Xmas do's! Keep strong everyone 😊
Congratulations to you for losing 1 pound this week, and getting back to 12 stone 12 pounds, that is great - onwards and downwards as you say, and especially brilliant in view of you having had 2 Christmas Do's and your family commitments - I am really impressed.
Very impressive post from you this morning and a wonderful weight loss and so encouraging too. You are so going to be in the 12's next week and just know that with your determination you will succeed.
Good morning Lowcal and the fab 5.
Well last week I was 12st 1.4lbs and this week 12st 0.4lbs so a pound off which I am so delighted about.
It's been a difficult week with two meals out and visitors at the weekend where I baked up a large buffet, bacon & eggs for breakfast and ate out for the rest of the time but I stayed focused and made good choices in advance of eating and it certainly paid off.
This week I am determined to get into those 11's and my ultimate Xmas target despite another Xmas meal out and an evening carol service with a bun fight and mince pies afterwards!
Thank you so much for your lovely welcome. I am really happy to be back, as I've missed everyone on here! Thanks as always for your encouragement, which means the world to me.
Congratulations to you for a pound off this week, that is brilliant. Well done for staying focused and making good choices in advance of your meals out, it has definitely paid off.
Here's to you being in the 11's by next week - sounds like you have a challenging week to face too - I am sure that is true for all of us this week, so we must stay resolved to pull through unscathed if we can! 'Bun fight and mince pies' sounds like a challenge in itself!
Wishing you a great week ahead Candystripe and enjoy your events.
Well done on your loss this week Candystripe you are doing so very well and also on the verge of another milestone which I am sure there will be no stopping you achieving your Xmas goal of getting into those 11's
Good morning Lowcal, great to see you back trimm(mer) and full of good and joyful plans. 🏋🏽🏓🏸A lb a week weight loss in the last month is fantastic given how far you have already come.
As for I am still 90kgs same as last week. Am keeping up with fitness plan, healthy food choices, no alcohol and logging everything but last week there were too many convivial meals out and xmas events and I had more calories than usual. I am so relieved that I am mainly eating at home this week. My target this week is to keep gross calories per day below 1450 and to get used again to smaller portions and not eating after 19:30pm. I hope if I stick to that I should start losing weight again.m
Well done for maintaining Gonti when all those Christmas temptations could so easily have derailed you.
You've got a great plan of action in mind for this week, so I'm sure that the final push to Christmas will see some of those unwanted pounds disappear for good
Hi Gonti, well done for maintaining this week. It sounds like you have a good plan in place for this coming week and I am sure that you will see a loss on those scale v'soon. It's good that you will be mainly eating at home this week and controlling your portion size. Home cooking is always best as you are in control and know exactly what is going into the meal. I wish you a successful week ahead x
Welcome back Skipper, it's great to see you back at the helm, all ship shape and Bristol fashion (That's not to say that having Prin at the helm wasn't good too, though )
Oh my gosh! You are so close to those 12's now, I'll bet your teeth were gnashing when those scales didn't drop by another ounce. Did you try balancing on one toe? However, a 4lb loss is fandabidozy, considering you've been away, so big congrats to you. What a great idea to join a gym now, instead of waiting for January, I'll bet you'll easily sweat yourself into those 12's by next week. Have fun!
I'm delighted to report another 2.5lb loss this week and a return of my exercise mojo
I renewed my Christmas weight loss goal to a rather ambitious 5.5lbs, which would take me to a 2.5st loss in total, but I seriously have my doubts about whether losing another 3lbs this week is possible. It's not going to stop me trying though!
Good luck everybody with your weigh-ins, have a happy Monday and a healthy week
Hi Moreless (lovely Fab 5'er - who did such a great job over the past 3 weeks of helping to keep this thread alive and kicking - thank you!),
Seriously, all you Fab 5'ers were and are terrific, and I agree that Prin was an excellent helmswoman. The thread was in safe hands, and I was reassured by that.
Thanks for your kind words on my weight loss, and yes, I considered different poses on the scales to help tip the balance in my favour, but sadly 13 stone was there to stay, and so I accept it!
Congratulations to you for losing another 2.5 pounds this week, and also great to hear your exercise mojo has returned - that is excellent news!!! You have set yourself a very large goal for this week - but I guess that doing so will mean that you will achieve something to feel proud of, and whatever you end up losing will be in the right direction, so it's all good!
Good luck with your goal, and hope you have a great week.
Hi moreless and very well done on losing another 2.5 lbs this week you are on a role girl and got your exercise mojo back, that's great to hear. It is possible to lose another 3 lbs this coming week so go for it. Put all you have into it this week as it's the final week for that last push before Christmas and no doubt you can achieve a 3lb loss
I'm excited for all of us reaching our Christmas goals I have reached mine on Sat and I am so pleased with a loss of 2 lbs which I had to really work for, but it was all worth it.
My goal for this week would be to lose another 2 lbs which would bring me to 10.11 and clear of the boarder line so I have a good plan in place this week with lot's of lovely, tasty and healthy low fat, low cal meals planned for that final push.
Well done again, good luck and have a great week moreless I'm rooting for you!
I think it's purely because I have such a lot to lose, but I am very determined, so there's no cheating and as much exercise as I can manage (when I've got my mojo)
Another great weight loss moreless ! If you are chasing down that 2.5st, then you are catching up with me, as I'm hoping to achieve that by next week (only 1.4lbs to go) - and you've been at this less time than me ! I suspect it will depend how many mince pies I eat putting up the tree on Saturday !!
There is no such thing as easy weightloss - don't ever think that you've not earned every single gram of weight loss that you see - you are putting a lot of effort in !!
Congratulations Lowcal on such a good result after a period away, you've done well and I have no doubt you'll achieve your Christmas weight wish.
I've had a tough week or two and found it really quite difficult to focus or to motivate myself, didn't help that we had four of our grandchildren staying with us over the weekend which meant there were a number of treats in the house that we don't normally have, so extra temptations. So bearing all that in mind I'm quite relieved to say my weight stayed the same this week, Mr. J on the other hand managed to shed a further two pounds.
I'm a lot more focused today and I'm starting the week in a determined frame of mind so although I'm not going to set myself a target I am hoping to shed a couple of pounds in the coming week.
Hi well done on your loss. Think the next 2 weeks will be tough for everyone! I have maintained my weight this week, so still 11st 9lb. Happy to maintain as I have not been all that good last week. Hope to lose a little this week, but as its my birthday Saturday and with Christmas fast approaching will be happy not to gain. Good luck everyone.
Can I just start by saying OMG YES, YES, YES!!! Lowcal and how pleased am I and I'm sure you to see that you are on the verge of getting into the 12's massive congratulations on your loss of 1.6 lbs this week and for your total loss of 4 lbs during your time away this is brilliant news. I am really pleased to hear also that you have joined the gym for a 3 month period with your first session starting today, good luck with that. It's all just fantastic news The 12's are just waiting for you now and like you say any loss this week to get you there will be just wonderful and I wish you every success in reaching your Christmas goal Lowcal
Well done to the group those stats are amazing and we are all doing so well.
Lowcal you've really put a big smile on my face this morning with your results and it goes without saying that I am so pleased for you hun
Thank you soooo much! I appreciate your support so much, you know that.
I was similarly smiley when I read your posts on my return, as it is so lovely to hear about success on the scales, and really brings a warm feeling to the day.
Yes, the group stats are fantastic aren't they - really motivating and great to be a part of.
I'm looking forward to my gym session - well - I do have some mixed feelings about it, as it's been a while since I ventured into the gym, but overall I am looking forward to it!!!
Welcome back. Hooray LC - 13 stone - that is amazing You must be pleased
I am in the weightloss doldrums - up and down like a yo yo. I gained 1. 75 pounds last week - and i have managed to shift 0.75 pound of that. So I am pleased ...but......
I had had aimed to 12 stone by xmas - but i am 4 pounds off that--so realistically unlikely to happen....but will do mu best
This week- I have to dodge going to see Madonna - and not piling on pounds at the German xmas market. Then weekend indulgence of two xmas parties....I will therefore be happy to maintain!!
Good luck for this week, and hope you cope with those German Xmas markets, parties etc - and ?dodging seeing Madonna - wow, let us know if you manage that. I wouldn't mind going to see her! I like her music and admire her too.
You've lost 0.75 pounds this week, so Congratulations! You're only 4 pounds off your target to get under 12 stone, so you're getting there. Keep positive Suzybenj, and hopefully you'll maintain your weight loss (as per plan) this week, and make strides onwards and downwards once these Christmas challenges are out of the way. Good luck!
Thanks so much for your kind words about my weight, and also thank you so much for being such a fabulous Fab 5'er, and for all your support in keeping this thread so great over the years!
The last week has been very undisciplined, I even had pizza and wine one evening, that said, I'm still showing a loss, and I can't believe I'm over a stone lighter than I was a month ago.
Morning all and welcome back lowcal well done on the loss since youve been away.
Since deciding on just going with the flow till after Christmas and maintaining i was surprised to see 10st 8lb on the scales which means i finally i have a 1lb loss to report 😁
Oh well going to keep doing the same as last week. Good luck all for this week x
End of Week 5 (it doesn't feel that long at all!) I have lost 3lb and am now 14 stone on the dot. Total loss 1 stone 1lb so far and I am now officially overweight rather than obese
So somehow, after being so busy at work that any exercise other than bits of walking has been impossible, so tired when I get home, a healthscare and basically not following the plan properly since the start of week 4 (chocolate EVERY day) I have managed to stay at 85.8kg which is 5kg from where I originally started. I'll be using this to keep myself motivated over the festive period and to get back on the wagon. Looking forward to a good long rest!
I'm really worried for your health scare You seem to be concerned about chocolate every day. Have you considered breaking the chocolate into reasonable size portions and freezing them?
I'm pleased you showed no gain
Look after yourself, you sound as if you have quite a bit going on at the moment
Have stepped up a little on the walking and have increased my toning exercises, as well as changing around my diet a little.
Not been totally good this weekend , as I was tempted by a few sweets and chocolates. There is some left in the cupboard, which makes a changes from times past when I would have polished off both bags without even thinking.
Weight 7th December: 10st 10.25lbs
Weight 14th December: 10st 8lbs
That's a loss this week of 2.25lbs so really amazed and happy this week.
Now within reach of the elusive 2st weight loss milestone.
Oh well done for not scoffing all the sweeties! That takes amazing willpower (which I don't possess!) and thank goodness you didn't, cos you wouldn't be celebrating a 2.25lb weight loss today
Well done on your loss over the last 3 weeks !!! That's really fantastic!!!
I thought I would have a gain this week, I originally hit 192 lb, then came a whopping cold and time off work. Survived one day eating healthy, than the cold got the better of me. Had to stop running as well. Yesterday we went to the Xmas market, but I kept my food in check (ish!).
Came home and went for Couch to 5km week 3 (had to go back a week due to not feeling 100% yet).
So, 194 lb last week, 193 lb this week. Am very pleased not to have a gain, and even better, I am now officially BMI overweight and not obese!!! Yay, what a week
Thanks so much for the welcome back, I am really happy to be back, and it's great to catch up with everyone.
Sorry to hear you've had a cold and glad you had some time off work to recuperate. I hope you're feeling a bit better now? Hope you enjoyed the Xmas market yesterday.
I know your running plans have been affected by the cold, but it's good that you listened to your body, and rested - as that's so important to keep as healthy as you can and not overdo things at such times.
Congratulations on losing 1 pound, and fantastic news to hear you're in the 'overweight' category and out of the 'obese' BMI category. Really great!!!
Hopefully you'll be feeling 100% again very soon, and I hope you have a fantastic week ahead.
This morning I weighed 12st 2.2lb, which I was a little bit annoyed about as I was 12st dead yesterday, but had a decent amount of food yesterday, but still recording a loss of 1lb this week so i don't mind
Best of luck to all of you this week, (I may be here next week or I may not).
Congratulations to you for losing 1 pound this week, that is brilliant! I know you had a better loss on the scales yesterday, but weight fluctuates, and it can be frustrating to compare sometimes...! But you've lost 1 pound, and that is fantastic - well done you!!!
Hope you have a great week, and catch up with you when you next join us.
A very warm welcome to our Monday group weigh-in. Fantastic to hear you've had such an excellent start, and that you've lost 4.9 pounds in your first week! Wow, that is so great!!!
Yes, logging everything can definitely help. Good luck with next week, and hopefully Christmas will not be throwing many spanners your way (it's the chocolate ones you have to watch!!!)- hopefully you'll cope well, and wishing you another great week ahead.
Thank you. Hope you have a good one too. I have battled with my weight since I was 8 years old and hope that I can beat it for good this time but it won't be easy, I know. 😕
Wow, you are doing really well - Congratulations on losing 1.75 pounds this week, that is an excellent result.
Yes, it is a really busy time isn't it, quite overwhelming sometimes with all the present wrapping etc. I hope you manage to get out for your walk later, and that you enjoy it.
Here's to us all coping with the last week before Christmas. Good luck to us all, and hopefully we'll do ok.
Brilliant Tewson well done on your loss of 1.75 lbs this week and going from the 190's and into the 180's that is wonderful to hear and I'm very pleased for you
Good going Tewson, hope all my wrapping brings in a loss on Friday !! Lol
😇
• in reply to
Well done Tewson
Morning Lowcal - good to see you back and congratulations on that amazing weight loss since you've been away - and you are so close to the 12s Next week, for sure !!
Just a flying visit as I've got a hectic morning ! I've managed a 1.8lb loss this week, which I'm delighted with as I thought a veggie cooked breakfast at the farm shop yesterday whilst making gingerbread houses was going to scupper my weight loss this week ! Had a good week exercise wise, and my weight now is 167lbs which is 11st 13lb, so I am into the 11s What a lovely early Christmas present !!
Great to see you! Thanks so much for your encouragement. I really hope those 12's might come my way next week, but I know what they're like - very elusive!!!
Glad you're making a flying visit - especially to hear such great news that you've lost 1.8 pounds - that is really great!!!! Well done!!! Sounds like you coped well with your veggie breakfast yesterday. Sounds delicious, I sometimes enjoy a veggie breakfast - I think they are really tasty.
Wow, you're into the 11's - Fantastic!!!! That is a great early Christmas present, and one much deserved. All credit to you. I thought your post was particularly inspiring too - I really enjoyed reading it when I got back.
Oh Lowcal - you wouldn't have approved of this veggie breakfast - it was all fried including the hash browns - not good calorie wise !! (was tasty though !! )
• in reply to
Yay into the 11s Lucca - that's amazing - you must have been absolutely grinning when you saw the scales this morning. I'm just rushing off to work in a few minutes, but it's good to briefly catch you on here first. Hope you have another excellent week balancing out a few festive treats with what sounds like a LOT of exercise - go you!
• in reply to
It's going to need a LOT of exercise to balance out my festive treats. I've banned mince pies in the house 'til Saturday, but I suspect it's all going to go downhill from there !
• in reply to
Maybe cut each mince pie in half to make yourself have them more slowly, or plan to have 2 but really delay the 2nd one as long as you can. Don't let the festive moment derail you, but also hope you have an excellent weekend!
Thanks moreless You know, once of my most lovely things happened yesterday. At the gingerbread house making morning, we took loads of photos, and I've actually ended up with a load of photos of me and my daughter and husband that I'm not embarrassed to look at - that's better than any weight loss in the world
Thanks so much. I really appreciate your kind words.
Great to hear how well you're doing, and that you're still in your maintaining range. Like 2BeFabnFit said earlier in this thread, weight does fluctuate, and it's natural that it would, so fluctuation in the 'maintaining range' is something that you should expect, and whilst you're in your range you are succeeding. You are doing so well.
It shows how different we all are. You have found it helpful to cut down on bread, potatoes, rice and pasta, but I always include those foods in my eating plan. I love them, and find them very healthy, but I have the wholemeal versions and brown rice rather than white etc. I also enjoy cheese and chocolate - but definitely don't do many biscuits these days, unless I have made them myself and when I do that they are mainly oaty biscuits with no sugar in them, and natural fruits instead.
You're right, this time of year is full of temptations - I had a couple of occasions last week when more chocolate passed my lips than I had intended. How did it do that? I find chocolate ends up in different 'forms' at this time of year, they seem to make it into various shapes (bottles, bells, coins - I even saw 'spanners' hence my comment to Cazkolly29 about watching out for those chocolate spanners in the works).
Anyway, I digress, I am thrilled with your progress.
Wishing you another great week ahead, and good luck with your goals to lose or maintain this week.
It sounds like you have found something that works well for you Kitkat, and that is fantastic. Your 'strict for 4 or 5 days and foot off pedal for 1 or 2 days' also sounds really good. Sounds like you're acheiving a good balance to your week.
You're doing just fine kitkat and you'll put those pesky temptations right back to where they belong
Have a great week
Good morning. Lowcal - that's so ace that you've lost 4lbs since you last posted this thread. Your confidence must be properly boosted. Here's to really hoping you have some kind of a loss this week - you really deserve to see 12something on the scales, but then you also need to keep it in the 12s - that'll be the next challenge! So a 3 month gym membership sounds like a pretty failsafe plan, good luck getting started and setting out your gym schedule for the weeks ahead
I've stayed the same this week at 10st3, which is ace as that's excatly what I want to do. I'm in the middle of my 10st0-10st7 maintaining range, and feel pretty confident now about staying there - next week I'll have been maintaining within this range for 3 months, which feels absolutely amazing.
I had a lot on last week, meeting an old friend, a couple of events including a very big event at my boyfriend's family on Saturday and the work Christmas party on Tuesday. I've cycled to work 3 days out of 5 but didn't manage to fit in any running which I'm disappointed about. But I think the cycling is working out pretty well at the moment, so I'm not too disappointed. Have a great week everyone
HI Ruth (fabulous Fab 5'er and amazing Stats Woman extraordinaire!!!),
Thanks for your encouragement, and you always help me to keep on track with my goals - so thank you!
Excellent news that you're well within your maintaining range, and that you've kept within the range for 3 months now. Doesn't time fly by? I'm so glad that you're feeling absolutely amazing, as that is a great achievement.
Sounds like you had a very busy week last week. Well done for cycling to work 3 days out of 5 - I know you are disappointed that you didn't fit in any running, but the cycling will have been great exercise too.
Wishing you another great week ahead, and thank you so much for all your hard work with the maintainance of this thread and the stats expertise you consistently provide for us.
There's not a lot to say Ruth - you've completely cracked this whole maintaining malarkey and it's all easy-peasy to you now
I'm sure you'll find time for some running soon, in the meantime, just enjoy dodging the traffic on your bike
• in reply to
Sounds like you've done brilliantly well Ruth, especially with all that socialising The cycling is obviously doing the trick, even if you aren't getting the time to run as well.
Ruth you are doing so very well maintaining your weight and you should be feeling pretty confident about staying there. I can't wait to be where you are at the maintaining stage.
Cycling to work 3 x out of 5 is just fantastic so never mind that you didn't get your runs in cycling takes effort and burns a lot of calories plus your still getting your cardio in there so you go girl your doing amazing
My cycling gives me a bit of strength work too as I have to carry my bike up and down two flights of stairs every time I take it out. When I first moved here those stairs put me off taking my bike out which was definitely one of the reasons I stopped cycling so much. Now I try to tell myself things like this are a mini strength work out instead of seeing the inconvenience, a massive change in attitude
Fantastic that you have lost while you have been away and you are obviously very determined to be in the 12's by Christmas and I just know that you can do it.
It was our works Christmas dinner on Saturday so I knew that this week would be challenging but I obviously managed to jig about on the dance floor enough to counteract the alcoholic calories because I have lost 1 lb this week. I'm delighted to make it through a tough week and still show a loss on the scales, another night out on Thursday and then that's all the pre-Christmas parties done.
Another Christmas party survivor! Dancing is a great strategy - you eat less, you drink less, and you burn calories. Also, all those endorphins make the party actually an enjoyable experience, so I think dancing is pretty necessary all round. Congrats on losing 1lb and managing to keep everything in balance this week - good luck for getting through Thurs with as much success too
Just to add that I hope you also enjoyed your Birthday too. I noticed it was your Birthday whilst I was away, so belated Happy Birthday! Great progress, and Congratulations on you 1 pound loss this week. Really great!
Wow, your progress is really great to see, and Congratulations on achieving such a good loss this week - 1.3 kg, that is a significant amount of weight. Your training for the half marathon sounds really good - I hope you're enjoying it.
Hope you have another great week ahead, and good luck with your target of losing another 1kg this week. You're getting ever closer to your target weight of 100kg.
Yea I'm enjoying getting back out running but keep having to slow myself down so I don't crash and burn after 5minutes! Completed 3miles tonight in around 40mins so considering I'm walking 2minutes and running 1 that's keeping me happy! Although I can't wait until I have to try run for a solid block of time(that's still a few weeks away though)
Really glad you're enjoying it NB. Completing 3 miles in around 40 minutes is fantastic - you have a good strategy with the walking for 2 mins and running for 1 - like lots of interval training sessions.
Update: Lizzy has posted her kicking the Kms challenge update post, so anyone who is enjoying that challenge - don't forget to pop over there to update your Km successes for this week!
Could we turn this update into a recruitment drive do you think?
We have an idea for a super challenge, but it would require at least as many members as the weigh-in group has, so all newcomers would be extremely welcome.
Feel free to tell us about it Moreless, and I can bring people's attention to it as part of the Monday group thread next week, if that would be helpful.
Once we've visited Santa, we'd like to go "Around the World in 80 days", but to have any hope of accomplishing it, we'll need to recruit at least 60 members!
ok, I will mention it in our post - whose name should I suggest they look out for, will it be Lizzy? You can give me the details of what to include nearer to Monday's post, so I put the right details. Sounds like a great challenge, and I'd love to be part of it as well, so count me as recruited, Captain Moreless.
I'm sorry Lowcal, I replied to you, but it seems to have vanished into the ether.
Lizzy will start posting threads as soon as we've kicked enough K's to get us to the North Pole. She will be the Captain, just as you're Skipper here, I'll be a shipmate. Aye, aye
All the details will be given to you in plenty of time for next week's weigh-in thread.
You're now on the crew list and the Queen's shilling will be waiting for you onboard
Morning Lowcal great to have you back😍 and well done you for losing during your holiday- the 12's are yours for the taking! I do believe this is your lowest weight since you started the thread! Have you seen Traffords photos? They are ace. I am 11.03/4 so lost 1.75lb this week despite 3 dos. Off to Spain tomorrow till Sunday so will try and maintain till after the hols have a great week all
Hi Prin (fabulous helmswoman, and brilliant Fab 5'er - thank you so much for your help and support whilst I was away, it was invaluable - I could tell how much people appreciated your posts),
Thanks for your kind words, and it's great to be back. Yes, it is the lowest weight I've been at (I think I did dip briefly into the 12's sometime last year, but sadly could not count it, as it didn't happen on a weigh-in official day! - the same happened briefly last week, so I know I am tipping my toe into the 12's, but I would love to be able to record them officially in our weigh-in stats. To be consistently in the 12's will be so challenging, as Ruth mentions, but I am hopeful to try to achieve that.
Yes, I've seen Trafford's photos, they are definitely Ace - she is a beautiful young woman, and was so when she was overweight as well, but now she is such a slim sprightly athletic person, she is even more amazing!!! Very inspiring post - anyone who hasn't seen it should definitely look out for Trafford1's post. It is really good to read.
Wow, I've just read that you've lost 1.75 pounds this week, despite 'THREE' Do's - how did you do that!!!!???? Many congratulations, that is really brilliant.
Hope you have a lovely time on your holiday in Spain - some lovely sunshine awaits you hopefully, and you can relax and unwind. Good luck with your goal to maintain.
Well done lowcal amazing and good luck with gym ! I have had bad 2 weeks and now well and truly back in 12s. (Lots of reasons). I have 3 dos this week so will try and limit damage! I remain committed but realistic!!
Thanks , yes mojo had a break. Nights out, a cold and wanted to eat more, hormones etc! Weird i was only 1.5 lbs off target now a lot more than that. I didn't even post on here last week! So thought this week will hopefully help me get back on track a bit. I did see friends i hadn't seen for a long time and they couldn't believe how much i had lost. Easy to forgot how far come and focus on 2 bad weeks!
I know how you feel though, I had a bad week last week, for no known reason, but I'm fine this week. Best to forget any negatives and concentrate on the positives
So sorry to hear you've had a bad 2 weeks. You mentioned there were lots of reasons, so hopefully you are well aware of the whys and wherefores. I think it's great that you are remaining committed against adversity, as that shows resilience and determination, both of which should help you go forward - and the touch or 'realism' will also be helpful too. Like you say, it's a challenging time - you've got 3 Do's this week, and therefore damage limitation sounds like an excellent strategy.
Good luck, and I hope you enjoy your Do's - wishing you a great week ahead.
Well done Lowcal and good luck with the gym membership. You're an inspiration! And haven't we all done well?
Well, I don't know quite how I managed it with all those Maltesers last week but I've somehow gone down to 52kg, a loss of 300g. Maybe it's the extra exercise classes I've been doing since the salsa class finished for the term. Anyhow, maintaining is still going to plan as we head towards the the gorging season.
Our Christmas do for work this week is cheap and cheerful at Nandos but I've checked out the online menu which helpfully gives the calorie count and I've got my eye on the quinoa salad.
Have a great week everyone and many thanks to the Fab5 for all your hard work helping us stay on track
Maybe the old Malteser ads were true and those little yummies really are lighter than air, so you have the equivalent of a helium balloon in your tum, which floated you off the scales to the tune of 300g
I'm sure with your careful planning, you'll carry on maintaining like a pro
So great to hear that you're doing so well with your maintaining - that is excellent. You've lost 300g as well, and you're at 52 kg. It could well be that extra exercise class - hope you're enjoying it.
'The gorging season' - that's a term and a half isn't it. Let's not succumb to 'gorging' if we can. I really hope we can sip and savour rather than gorge, but I do remember a previous Christmas when I thoroughly gorged on quite a few things, so I know how 'dangerous' it can be!!!
I hope you enjoy the Quinoa salad at Nando's - well done for looking ahead at the menu and pre-planning your strategy. It should be tasty.
You're doing so well, and Congratulations - wishing you another great week ahead.
Welcome back Lowcal. I hope you had a good time whilst away - what an achievement to have lost as well. I only hope I can emulate you. Morning everyone, some great losses and maintains - we are on a roll!
This morning I weigh 16.9.2, so that's a pound down on last week. Pleased with this, because the latter part of the week wasn't particularly good, in fact the whole week was incredibly stressful for various reasons, but had been hoping I could push it a bit further. Still, I've also lost another inch off hips and waist. One more pound and I will have lost 2 stone since I started this "journey" with C25K in May.
This is the last time I'll check in with you until the New Year as I'm off on holiday for 2 weeks on Friday. Am determined not to gain whilst away, so wish me luck and lots of Lowcal-style mojo.
Thanks so much for the lovely Welcome back, and I am really happy to be back.
Yes, we are on a roll today - some great losses, and I am so excited! Probably because Christmas is coming too - I do get excited about that.
Congratulations to you for losing 1 pound this week. It sounds like you got through a tough week, as you mentioned that the latter part of the week wasn't particularly good. Losing another inch off your hips and waist is great! Wow, you are so close to achieving a 2 stone loss since starting your journey in May. Really inspiring progress. Well done to you!
I would like to wish you a Very Happy Christmas and Happy New Year - I note you're away on holiday for 2 weeks as of Friday, so hope you have a fantastic time. Will look forward to catching up with you when you get back.
Thanks Lowcal. Marital problems, high blood pressure, issues with son's school because they've worked him to the point of exhaustion for mock GCSEs and being stuck for 3 hours in a deserted car park when my car broke down before the breakdown service arrived - last week was the week from hell, so I don't blame myself for sneaking lumps of cheese and an extra helping of main course. But, unlike on previous diets, I've dealt with it and moved on. This week I'm firmly back on the waggon. Plus I know it's possible to make healthy choices whilst being on an AI holiday, it's just the alcohol I'll have to watch. I do like a drink! ;0)
Oh Jiggly, I shall miss your jiggly post next week, but I'll know you're away having a fab time and will be back in the new year to tell us all about it
Well done for the 1lb loss, especially as you've had a stressful week and for the inches lost from hips and tum - I'm guessing the Christmas outfit will be a slinky, sparkly number
You can maintain whilst you're away, you've seen it can be done.
I am going to get ready to go to the gym! I'll be back later, either before or after lunch, depending on how I get on!!! Look forward to catching up with people later.
It was good! I did 10 minutes on the Cross-trainer to start off and went 2.5 km in that time, and then I did 5km on the treadmill (took me 35 minutes and 25 seconds), and I admit I did a mixture of running on 9 to 10 speed and then walking on 6 for a couple of minutes, and alternating like that - and then finally I walked for a further 5 minute 'cooldown' which covered a final 0.33 km.
I haven't signed up for any classes yet, but I will take a look when I go for my next gym session, which I am hoping will be on Wednesday! I hope to do my 3 sessions of gym this week, as a minimum.
I felt spurred on by people like yourself, who love a good exercise session!
Hope you've had a great day! I expect you are doing numerous classes this week - how many are you doing? Will you be able to fit any in whilst you're in Spain, or will you be doing more relaxing?
I only did spin at 6.45am today and that's it now till next Monday evening at 6.30. I have some long walks planned for spain my girlfriend who I am going with is a netball coach so is usually up for a challenge! I am taking my garmin so I can record some stats for the Santa visit to the North Pole 😀 and of course combat the daily bottle of cava!
welcome back lowcal and well done for losing weight while away. congrats to all others that have lost weight this week too.
I weighed in at 82.9kg this morning so i have lost 0.7 kg this week. I'm very happy with that as had some Christmas parties and a trip to Cadbury world on the weekend. was hoping to get under 80 kg before Christmas but don't think I'll manage that. I'm going to my parents in Norway for Christmas and are hoping to maintain my weight but won't be too heartbroken if i gain a little bit.
OMG! Carpo, I'm drooling at the thought of Cadbury World! How on earth have you managed to lose 0.7kg after a visit to chocolate heaven?!
Are you going to your parent's before next week's weigh-in, or have you got one more week with us? Christmas in Norway sounds idyllic - you can burn off any extra calories consumed by skiing daily
I leave next Tuesday so will hey one more weigh in before I go. I actually didn't eat that much chocolate and we walked around a lot also. the liquid chocolate with marshmallow topping was nice though😈
it was. but a bit sickening after a bit. all the free chocolate i brought home for my husband. and some will be given away for Christmas. the factory shop sold 18 bars of hazelnut chocolate for £2.88.and as i have a nut allergy it was the perfect chocolate to buy
Well done to all this week, whether you have maintained, lost or gained at this time of year it is easy to give up, but by coming here and posting, you are being mindful of your weight and that will hold you in good stead over the Christmas period and for the coming year.
I lost 1.5lbs this week, which brings my total weight lost to 2.5stone and meets my Christmas goal - yay!
This week is going to be quite hard with Christmas get-togethers, not sure how I am going to cope with them apart from trying to squeeze in another session at the gym :/
Welcome back Lowcal and well done. I have lost from last week 2lbs I am 13.1.6 so getting nearer again to the 12's which is also my goal. Have a great week everyone.
Thank you moreless, I'm truly hoping to still be able to loose during the upcoming events but I am always keeping an eye daily on the scales to keep me in check.
Well done to all the losers and maintainers - no mean feat at this tempting time of the year. I'm trundling along at the same weight, which is part of my plan for December. Will continue to exercise and spent 30 mins on the treadmill today as well as some weight training, which will help to reduce the impact of the festive season. Already been on 2 socials and a curry is planned for tonight - best to keep on running!
Unfortunately coming in with a gain of 2.4lbs this week but I think it's mostly stress weight so should come off again quickly I hope now that finals week is over.
I am sorry to hear you've been feeling stressed, and I can understand that will impact on the scales - so hopefully that 2.4 pounds will soon be a thing of the past now that your finals week is over. How did it go? I hope you get a great result in your exams, and I hope you have a good week ahead.
Time to relax a bit and unwind after all your hard work. Hope you get opportunity to do that.
Welcome back Lowcal and very well done on the loss! Maybe next Monday will bring you an early Christmas pressie of being in the 12's, very good luck!
So, hold your ears folks cos I'm kinda shouting this one now it's official lol: I've hit the 2 stone total loss mark - hoorah! Well, 2 stone and 1/2 lb to be precise.
For the week's stats, since last Monday I have lost 3 and 1/4 pounds. I had feared going back up, as I'd reached this weight on Friday morning, but I'm glad the scales have not gone up since then...double hoorah!
Good luck to everyone for the week ahead...the Christmas food force is strong, but we are stronger right, we can beat it!
I'm back already...I had a rather unpleasant argument with the frozen broccoli....it told me that spot was already taken, and that it would be vegging out there for the foreseeable future.
Wow I am so happy for you I was hoping to hit that mark before going away but I am going away this week for two weeks so it looks unlikely now!! But anyhow I am glad you got there before me!!! WTG!!
Hi there. I'm starting out so have started the journey weighing 14stone 7 lbs. I look forward to weighing in next Monday and hope I do as well as you lot 😀. Thank you for letting us newbies join in and feel so welcome.
I am so happy that you've decided to join us for this Monday group weigh-in, you are very welcome, and thanks for sharing your starting weight. I hope that felt ok to do so, and hopefully you'll be lighter this time next week - all being well. Are you doing the NHS 12 week plan? It is a really great structure and has lots of excellent advice. Many of us use Myfitnesspal alongside to help ease the calorie counting side of things.
Anyway, we'll really look forward to seeing how you've got on next week, and I hope you have an excellent week.
Lowcal it's good to have you back and 4lbs loss while you were away that's fantastic what an achievement! I so hope you'll make you goal of being in the 12s very soon!!
I am so happy I have lost 2 pounds again and I am now at 77.4kg. I am now at 170.6 lbs. I am sooooo happy. I am only two pounds away of having lost 2 stones! I cannot believe my goal was to reach 80kg by 17th of December and I have already passed that!! I followed Moreless tip of doing sports BEFORE weighing in on Mondays, which I found in yesterday's thread started by Weightwarrior ( ) and it seems to have worked haha. I took my bike out *for the first time* ( I acquired my own bike this Saturday!!!) this morning at 7.30am it was still half dark it was soooo great. What a great feeling at the park, with my bluetooth earphones lol. So eerie, so nice. 14 weeks ago if someone had said I would be at at the local park on a bike I think I would have choked while laughing!! LOL
Also regarding my calories intake that's where it gets interesting. Thanks to Moreless and Ruth sorting me out in last week's thread, I upped my intake to 1400-1500 and I still have a loss!! I am so glad I made that move. This 1400 calories mark instead of 1200 I was following makes such a difference in my daily life and I still report a loss. Following Ruth's advice I don't think I'd go over 1500 and starting from today I will fix it to 1400 a day. I am still seriously limiting my carbs but not banning them completely like when I became constipated.
I did my three runs too. It does get a bit boring as I can only do on the treadmill (I'm way too shy to run outside) and my treadmill has a limit of 30min anyway (otherwise it flares up and it starts smelling!) so I cannot really say I'd go for longer runs. But I still enjoy them as I regularly go quicker and quicker. I am nearing the 5k mark now. Yesterday I did 4.6 or 4.7k in 30min.
I am sooo happy I came across the 12 weeks plan and this forum. I also discussed with trafford who has been such an inspiration, it's really great. I remember I thought I was using the nhs plan and the forum while waiting to be "properly referred" to a support group by my GP. Then I did meet my Gp and she had nothing more interesting to offer at all!! So while I was there thinking this was just to occupy me and get me into good habits before I start the "proper" weight loss programme, little did I know I ALREADY was in the PROPER weight loss programme!! Aaah!!
Anyway I will be away from 17th till January 4th. I shall try to connect at least to the Monday weigh ins although I might not have a balance where I'm going so I'll have to do my best. My goal is to maintain throughout the holidays, or to not take more than 2 pounds in total. I am going to miss the forum soooooo much!! More than I can admit!!!
Your post is incredibly inspiring, and many Congratulations for achieiving a 2 pound loss this week, and to being just 2 pounds away from a 2 stone total loss - wow, you are amazing!
Great that you have found Moreless and Ruth's advice to up your calorie intake to have been beneficial - and also that you've enjoyed riding your bike - having recently acquired it. Hope you're enjoying that.
I am particuarly impressed by your running - achieving a time of 30 minutes to do 4.7 km is really great! I ran on the tread mill this morning and managed to do 5km, but it took me 35 minutes and 25 seconds to do that, and I was really pushing myself - (hearing Moreless and Trafford's voices in my head at the time I have to admit - Moreless suggested I push it up a notch on the Km challenge this morning, and Trafford has also helped me significantly to keep on track with exercise etc).
There are too many people's names to mention who have inspired me actually, and I am really glad that you are feeling similarly motivated - and that you have achieved so much.
I hope you have a great holiday, and we will hope to catch up with you when you are able to pop into the thread - and we'll miss you when you're not able to check-in. Keep it up, and hope you have a fantastic time. Good luck with your goal to maintain.
Thank you again for your encouragements and yes you're right there are just too many names to mention. I remember for Week 5 run 3 I had the words of Five Fab'er Suzy in my head about how she would hold me accountable to it and even though I was about to postpone I was thinking "but then what would I say in the forum"? LOL. Makes me laugh really when I think about it cos someone else could have said "just don't go to that forum then!", but no, you really feel a need to come and check on everyone, read, be inspired, and help also if you think you can!!
I had a quick question: why would you stop myfitnesspal to then start writing down what you eat? Isn't my fitness pal much easier to handle than having to write down? I'm interested cos you seem to describe it as an easier approach but I just can't see how it'd be easier to write down on a piece of paper as opposed to use the app. Just curious .
I don't mind your question at all, I can understand why you'd be curious about that, as I realise it does sound a bit strange, but it's probably because I like to keep a paper desk diary in addition to the usual digital apps etc that we tend to have in our techno world. I really like just being able to write with a pen in my desk diary, and I include my food and drink intake there too.
I've been counting calories via MFP for a few years now, so I basically know pretty much how many calories are in things, and I don't feel the need to count them anymore currently - but I still like to keep account of my intake via pen and paper, because seeing it written down, and writing it down helps me not to overdo things - and to feel accountable.
I don't know if that makes sense, but that's what I feel comfortable with, and that's what I'm currently doing.
aah ok it makes perfect sense. I have only been using it since the beginning of this journey and I can see your point if you've been using it for years. I quite like how you can easily find things you have already eaten and just add then very quickly, so I can imagine that after some *years* one can remember or guess easily the calories.
Thank you so much for having taken the time to reply
Oh my gosh Nussaybah, we're going to miss you far more than you miss us. I love your posts and this one is no exception and you've made me giggle several times
How absolutely fabulous that you're 2.6kgs below your original goal. You're a star!
I hope you have a smashing trip away and come back to us no heavier than you are now and with lots of stories to regale us with
I just read this Nussaybah, what an absolutely positive and beaming post! Glad to hear that upping the calories has proved the right thing to do. I'm totally laughing at you not realising you were on the proper programme. I definitely feel like I'd struggle to find a better programme than what I followed via this forum too. Laughing at you cycling in the park too. I'm loving cycling these days too, generally feeling more active and independent. 30 mins running sounds ace, but hope you'll have confidence to run outside soon too, as the feeling is completely different. Congrats on your new bike, great losses and hope you have an excellent break
Well done Prin 4lb feels like a great big difference doesn't it! Great to have a plan for surviving all those Christmas dos! There's a lot of Christmas don't involved in Christmas dos!!!
This week I lost 4lb and gained 2lb so I have overall dropped 2lb with which I am utterly delighted. Who knows perhaps I will be in the 11s in the new year! I had a bit of a tot up and including this 2lb I have lost 36lb since Jan 5th - not rapid but significant; I'm 5lb above the top of the healthy BMI range and 27lb above the mid of the BMI healthy range- less than I've lost already so entirely do-able by this time next year?
Trying to stay positive after eating an entire box of chocolates over the weekend...!
Thanks moreless. Can't do rules, and I eat way too much for significantly limiting calories to help me! My aim has kept being revised- my first aim was to get into the 12s and maintain that, broken down into smaller targets so I got a sense of achievement more than a sense of a long road ahead I mostly accomplished this by June- then I got shingles, lay around being ill for a long time... so it's been a lot of gain / loss cycles since then to get below 12 1/2...
Well done on losing 2 pound this week, and it's great to hear you're feeling utterly delighted about that, as that is a great feeling! You might get to the 11's for the New Year, that would be exciting!
Wow, great to hear you've lost a total of 36 pounds since January 5th - that is really good. Slow and steady weight loss is sustainable and healthy, so it's really good to hear.
You're getting very close to the top of the healthy BMI range, and like you say it's entirely doable by this time next year.
I see chocolates came as a temptation to you over the weekend - they have a way of popping into our lives at this time of year don't they. Watch out for them, they lurk everywhere in waiting.
ooh thank you so much Lowcal- and after I called you Prin instead of Lowcal too. I do have a tendency to binge eat and have regained and re-lost several of these lost pounds.... but I'm not on a diet I'm making my lifestyle healthier- I can't do rules!!! Curse those festive goodies!
Just wanted to say that I really like your name - I think it is extremely creative to combine 'rain' and 'shine' and isn't like the normal or more 'usual combination' - which reflects your suggestion that you can't do rules - and I think that has enabled you to go outside the box and choose a really creative and lovely name. I really like it.
I lost 2.25 lb this week now at 12.st. 9.75lb so really relieved after week in hotel and having nothing sinful, hubby now steals it off my plate before I can even think about it so I suppose that is very considerate!! also means I have lost 1st1.25 lb since I went to dr. The bottles of water are getting heavier II cant believe I was carrying all that extra weight 2stone3lb to go1 It now seems doable yess
Wow! Lowcal loosing 4 lbs when you were away you surely deserve a gold medal!
Well for me I have gained 2 lbs this week as it was a hard baking all the goodies and than seeing them out every night.. My son and hubby wanted peanut chews and doughnuts. This week we are all back to normal and no more cheating and than I will hopefully loose my 2 lb.At least I am still in my 12's.
well well what a week- i somehow managed to lose 0.4kg I am shocked haha this week I've done very little exercise as I had that horrible bug that was going around- have eaten so many jam tarts and sweets mainly to make myself feel better and I have been to 2 christmas parties
the first one was all inclusive as much alcohol as we wanted and food! however I was good and asked for fruit salad for afters but probably drank enough to make up for that! then take two was very well behaved so I am proud
this week I return to work so hopefully my loss next week will be better as I will be more active rather than just sitting around- plus i will have less temptation from what is in the house and just the food which i take with my to work! just have to resist those goodies which are on the table! haha
it is 100% getting harder the closer we get to christmas!
Well done for managing to squeak through the week with a tiny loss Wood :), although that's probably down to the bug. I hope you're feeling heaps better now.
I'm sure you will find the healthy eating easier when you have the structure of the working day, as long as people aren't taking goodies to share
Chin up, in a few weeks it'll be all over and we'll all have to knuckle down and get back into the swing of things
I am just going to mention that Hydrogirl has lost 1 pound this week, whilst being over in Singapore, and I told her I'd add her stats to our Monday weigh-in group thread, as I know she normally posts here and would appreciate it being included. So Ruth, hope you can add in her fantastic result of 1 pound lost this week.
Well done in losing whilst away! This week I have maintained which I am pleased with. Was off of work with migraine at the beginning of the week, now have stinking cough, sore throat and cold which stopped me feeling up to exercise over the weekend. Plus two Christmas party meals and a meal out with family! I have quieter week ahead with only one Christmas meal and am hoping that the cough, sore throat bug goes so that I can exercise as I would love to loss a couple more lbs before Christmas.
Congratulations to you for maintaining this week. Sorry to hear you've had a migraine at the beginning of the week, that must have been awful. I hope your cough, sore throat and cold go away soon, so you can feel better and enjoy this week, sounds like it took its toll on last week.
Take it easy and look after yourself, and hopefully it will go away and leave you in peace. Whatever you do, don't overdo things - I pushed myself last February when I had a bad cold, and ended up developing a chest infection that was really hard to shift.
I am late today as I have simply been working all day getting so panicked with Christmas coming and so much work to catch up on- its back to work for me after three months off with a broken ankle- anyway, I am so late I don't expect a reply but I lost a pound as I am 11.12 now. Slow but steady and almost half a stone from the beginning I guess.
As I get more active I get hungrier which is tough. I'm on 1200 calories a day and that isn't a lot if you eat during the day- I tend to have breakfast, soup for lunch and save calories for the evening.I need to look up tasty low calorie snacks to keep me going.
Anyway good luck to all- the only way is downwards, I'm determined
That's fine, we're here all day and into the night too - there's usually one or more of us around for most of the day and evening. Glad you made it, and sorry to hear you're feeling a bit panicked about Christmas - it can be overwhelming with all the demands etc.
Great to hear you have got back to work after your broken ankle, and I hope it is feeling mended now and that you're coping ok. Congratulations on losing 1 pounds this week, you're further into the 11's as a result of that, and that's great! Great that you've achieved half a stone from the start of your journey, and I think slow and steady is a great way to lose, as it is sustainable and healthy.
Make sure you're eating sufficient calories - can be good to double check on the NHS calorie calculator, as people sometimes don't have sufficient, and you can seriously hamper your weight loss progress if you don't eat enough. So do ensure you double check, and make sure you're eating enough.
You sound determined, and you're making great progress. I hope you have a good week ahead, and don't be hard on yourself regarding all the demands of Christmas, as hopefully it will all work out in the end, and you'll enjoy everything. It can be a stressful time, but hopefully it might not be as stressful as you fear it might be.
Thanks Lowcal, I appreciate your advice and Moreless too. Definitely chilling out more, getting back into the groove of work and avoiding the mince pies!!
Hope you have a good week too in the Christmas run up! Thank you so much for posting to us all....and keeping us all on track
Here's a reply tubbycat Don't stress, sit yourself down and have a cuppa
Well done for losing a pound, slow and steady wins the race
May I ask why you're only consuming 1200 calories? The minimum recommendation is 1400, so I'm not surprised you're getting hungry. Load your details into the NHS BMI calculator as see what it comes up with.
Thanks for this - I have upped my calorie intake to 1400, thanks so much, it makes big difference. I was only guessing that 1200 was about right. Really grateful for the help, thanks
Open all hours as Arkwright once said, Sugar free jelly I make them in ramekins a pint does 3, when you come to eat top the dish up with low fat Greek yogurt around 50 cals
I use Greek yogurt for all sorts in savoury dishes so pasta can have a creamy tomato sauce. Zing to savoury mince dishes, and anything requiring Mayo sometimes I add a teaspoon of the very low fat Mayo in with it or for marie rose just tomato purée and Worcestershire sauce
Congratulations to you for losing 2 pounds this week, and getting into the 15's - those milestones are so great - a new stone bracket. Really well done.
Its monday night weigh in and I've only lost 0.2 kg - not very much at all. so I now weigh 67.3 kg. still, its 0.2 closer to my goal, and it might make next week a bit easier. Now i'm going to focus like mad on not eating too much until friday - when I go on holiday for two weeks.
I think 0.2 kg is a good loss - although I realise you were hoping for a bit more, as you mentioned that you felt it wasn't very much at all. But like you say, it is 0.2 kg closer to your goal, and I do think that is good progress. Slow and steady is a good way to lose weight.
I bet you're excited about the fact your holiday is so close - hope you have a fantastic 2 weeks. Look forward to catching up with you when you get back - if you want to check in with us while you're away, then we'll be here! But we'll also be here for when you get back too.
Starting again...... week 1 start weight 10st 8lb start of week 2 10st 4.5lb .......so glad to have loat 3.5lb from introducing excercise/walk and run round the block but still need to reduce calories as I am still way over (mostly due to alcohol treats!). Well dobe to everyone who has lost and still time to look fab in the xmas party wear!!!! Xxxx
It's just after midnight now, and I'm going to bed now. If there are any late weighers who want to check in tomorrow morning, then I'm sure we'll notice you and respond, so do check-in if you do happen to be slightly late for the weigh-in.
Fantastic thread as always this week, and well done to everyone who has contributed to the thread today - your commitment to weighing in is much appreciated, and it has been great to catch up with everyone again. I missed you all, and it's great to be back.
That's absolutely fab LowCal on your 4lbs loss despite being away! You will see those 12's next week I'm sure Hope you enjoyed the gym yesterday too!
What a great week everyone has had
I have had two Christmas do's the previous week and the alcohol flowed...so I'm happy to say I have lost 0.4lbs. Only a small amount but happy in the circumstances! I've picked really healthy recipes for this week (my other half did the food shopping last week and it involved pie and mash and tartiflette!!) so tonight I am having prawn stirfry with a chilli and garlic dressing Not that I am thinking what I am having for dinner already and it's only 6.45am..hehe!
Gah had a bad week this week, it was my christmas parties and ladies lunches and although i tried to make some good choices on food it was the alcohol that has let me down and i have put on 2lb
Still best get back on the wagon and make better choices this week. Sorry to let everyone down x
Just wanted to let you know I've lost that pound to get to 2 stones lost since May. One of my goals was to lose as much as possible before our holiday this Christmas, so am pretty pleased, but don't intend to stop here.
Was also just wondering if others have had the experience of having a kind of "barrier" weight which, once you've passed it, the weight seems to come off easier? On previous diets I have always struggled to get much below about 17 stone 3 and definitely not below 17, but once I'd got there this time the weight has seemed to come off much more easily. I shall probably eat my words now and have a plateau for weeks, but was just interested in others' experiences.
That is fantastic! So glad you posted to let us know. Congratulations on that massive achievement of losing a total of 2 stones since May - really great!!!!
I shall have a think about your question, and will respond later - I just wanted to Congratulate you on your great achievement.
Yaaayy!! WTG Jiggly, that's fantastic and perfectly timed
I think most of the "barriers" I've had have been in my head, but this is the first time I've "dieted" from this size, so can't really say. I really hope the weight does start dropping off you now
Have a great hol and we'll see you in the new year
Lowcal, many congrats. To lose 4 pounds when you are away is amazing especially at this time of year. Good luck with getting to the 12's , sounds like you will do it especially joining a gym. I am hugely impressed and now very inspired. I am feeling the festive spirit now big time but am trying to be sensible. Happy Christmas.
