Hello!

I’m new to this and would never normally post anything about my weight because of how insecure I am about it but need some advice. I want/need to lose 5 stone and just don’t know where to start.. I snack a lot and binge my feelings. Does anyone have any advice to help me

Thank you.

Hello and welcome, chelseajade2001 😊

I'm going to give you a couple of personal stories to read, from members who have lost the sort of weight you're talking about

I hope they will give you confidence and inspiration :)

And something about bingeing helpguide.org/articles/eati...

As for snacking, the starting point is to build up your meals, make them filling and satisfying, then you're less likely to turn to snacks.

A good way of getting into the forum is by joining a weekly weigh-in on the day of your choice, and sharing your meal plans on the Daily Diary. They, and lots more besides, are in Pinned Posts and this is where you’ll find them healthunlocked.com/nhsweigh...

The forum is set up for sharing information and support so, wherever you go, please chat, ask questions and encourage others: that way, we share the support around. You’ll meet some wonderful people along the way who will be happy to share their successes and struggles😊

The best way to benefit from this forum is to be as involved as you can be, join one of the Weigh In's for the day that best suits you to check your weight each week, plan your menu's with the Daily Diary and chat and encourage others and you will reap the rewards and be motivated to move towards your goals with more determination than you can have on your own!

Try to find alternatives to the binge patterns, distraction tactics to avoid the foodie moments... some have distracted themselves by running up and down their stairs, cleaning the bathroom or kitchen, writing on the forum and replying to others posts... Anything that can distract you from the snack but benefit you at the same time!

Cheering you on 🎉🎉🎉

Hi chelseajade2001! You're in very good company here, we all have or had a fair bit to lose! You'll find loads of good advice from folk here, and it's up to you which path you take. If you're used to snacking, stopping that cold might seem a bit daunting so maybe start small and either reduce the snack size or skip one a day to begin with. The NHS website has a calorie guidance section with the BMI calculator which is handy if you don't know where to start.

For me, calorie counting seems to be the only way I can control my eating! But there are lots of people with really good advice who will help you, I'm sure.

Good luck, keep posting!

Hi, chelseajade2001 , welcome.

If you "slim smart" weight loss is not so hard! It is not all about motivation and masochism.

Some of us here find that what works is a combination of The Low Carbohydrate, High-Fat (LCHF) diet (see the forum here on Health Unlocked) and Not Snacking All Day AKA Intermittent Fasting (IF). See:
