Hi. I'm Ann. I need to lose 3 1/2 stone. I lost 2 1/2 about 2 years ago but then had a succession of hospital visits and operations. Sitting around, feeling sorry for myself and comfort eating means I'm back to where I was before. I have a number of health issues, including diabetes T2 so I really need to get motivated......

Going to be naughty and yet again mention Michael Moseley's books on T2 diabetes.... have you read any? He had T2 and as a doctor, did some research and wrote a couple of books etc and now no longer has T2. I don't have diabetes, but love his recipes and still use them daily even though I'm past my 12 week challenge. Found his books inspirational and it might be the thing you need to get motivated? Just a little suggestion. Totally understand your comfort eating...... it's lovely..... but so not good for you
Thanks for the suggestion, I will take a look. Have seen. Michael Moseley on tv, so will be interested at taking a look at his books..
I was amazed, I didn't realise he had T2 and was just looking for calorie counted recipes when I stumbled across his book. I have both now - the small paperback "The 8-Week Blood Sugar Diet" gives you case study examples and tells of his medical problem. The other one I have is bigger, by his wife Dr Clare Bailey and Dr Sarah Schenker, and that one "The 8-week blood sugar diet recipe book" is the one with the, um, recipes! It also gives an easy to follow 8 week menu in the back - and I'm picky, but did manage many of the meals! Drew the line at "Watercress, Orange and Sardine Salad" though!!!! I do, however, always cook from scratch in the evenings though and both my husband and I are following the same diet, which makes things a whole lot easier. Just thought I'd let you know.
Hi and welcome, Ann
I'm not sure if you're aware that there is a community specifically for diabetics, so they will be able to help you with your specific needs
healthunlocked.com/drwfdiab...
Take a look at the Pinned posts section to the right of your screen (bottom if you're using a mobile), read the Welcome Newbie thread first and move through to the challenges, where we hope you'll find at least one that will appeal to you
Move down to the Topics, to find a variety of threads, collated into specific topics for ease of access and we ask that you also 'file' your own threads, so that others won't miss your important news
Have a look at the 12 week plan, as many people have been successful following it. Don't forget to take your starting measurements and a 'before' picture, as they can be very motivating on days that the scales refuse to co-operate
Although the majority of our daily weigh-in's are now quite full, we still have spaces in Sunday's and, you'd be very welcome to join us. The threads can always be found in the Events section, to the right of the home page, bottom on a mobile.
We've found that to get the best out of this community, we need to be active on the forum, as it's where we exchange information, get motivation and inspiration and make friends. We hope that you'll join us here, regularly, too
It's only left for me to wish you well on your journey
Hi Ann1953 I wish you great success on your goals.
Thanks so much for the welcome. Have been slow to get involved but am gradually making sense of it all!
