Hello and welcome, 1newmeskyemaxine 😊
If you go for activity and exercise you enjoy, that should help you stick with it. If a gym is your thing, I'm sure you'll get back into it but you may find something else you enjoy - walking, dancing, cycling ..... And remember, what and how we eat is far more significant in weight loss.
You will have been sent a welcome message with a link to our Pinned Posts. Have a look at them, particularly the Welcome Newbies post which will help you find your way around. I recommend joining a weekly weigh in on the day of your choice, and using the Daily Diary, where members log their meal plans and get useful feedback.

Build up slowly.
I started walking after being disabled for half a decade - and it took me a few months to work up to walking 30, 40 or 50 km per week.
It is not the best time of year (here) for walking - but I have still been able to do at least 30km per week. I am 70.
Well done you. You've taken that first hard step. I think the main aim has to be doing what you enjoy so that it isn't a chore. Build gradually and don't be too hard on yourself. I try to go to yoga and want to build up to jogging and start swimming again.
As mentioned above: find something that you enjoy. A lot of gyms hand out a standard programme without paying any attention to what people like to do (or hate doing).
If you feel unmotivated upon first walking into the gym, I suggest going through a brief weights workout. Start with some light weights, don't pay too much attention to counting sets/reps, but work up to heavier weights over 10-15 mins. Pick exercises at random. The aim is simply to get your heartrate up and your muscles active. You'll find that this gets you into the swing of things.
Just bear in mind that there is no way to spot-reduce, and exercise in and of itself will do nothing for fat loss (in particular, cardio can actually cause fat retention if you're eating a calorie-restricted diet). But if you get your diet right, exercise will get you faster results.
In other words: if you're exercising regularly and not losing weight, your diet is wrong.
Today is my 5th day in the gym, I am loving it. I have to change my whole diet, you are right, it was the foods I was consuming that has added to my stomach fat, I could pass for 6 months pregnant. It’s slowly going down with fasting, gym and changing my diet, and I actually feel great, my energy levels are higher than usual. All my sweet foods where slowly killing me, I had to stop. Praying for myself Xmas.
