I'm new here. Just cancelled my WW subscription which I have had since April but admittedly been on and off with but had been successful 2 years ago on it getting my goal weight, however I decided a month ago to seriously get back on it and did a 30min walk everyday only to find had lost a total of 1lb. It's so disheartening and so I have decided I don't want to be on a diet anymore I want to make changes, so any tips appreciated, thanks

Not another diet!
Hi and welcome, Mogg07
It took me over 40 years to realise that diets don't work and it was these that made all the difference to my way of thinking healthunlocked.com/nhsweigh... and phcuk.org/wp-content/upload...

Good for you, Mogg! You have made the first very important step. My motto is that I’m not going to do anything to lose the weight that I’m not willing to do for the rest of my life to keep it off. I refuse to feel hungry or deprived.
That's the way to go not on a diet but a healthy eating plan for life. Read the info admin will/ has sent read through it and see what you think suits you best. Join in a weigh day group and you will get plenty of encouragement and support. A lot of people on here swear by LCHF or a good place to start the 12 week NHS plan but if you do that don't just do the standard 1400 Cal's but work out your allowance on BMI calculator and eat to top end of it then gives you wiggle room as you loose weight and good luck
Hi, Mogg07 , welcome.
If you "slim smart" weight loss is not so hard! It is not all about motivation and masochism.
Some of us here find that what works is a combination of The Low Carbohydrate, High-Fat (LCHF) diet (see the forum here on Health Unlocked) and Not Snacking All Day AKA Intermittent Fasting (IF). See:
Dear Mogg07,
Don't use the word 'Diet'. It makes you hungry!!
Its a life style change really. You need to find something that you can live with and something that allows you to enjoy your food.
After years of counting calories - and yo yo dieting - I tried cutting back hard on 'carbs' and that has been really good for me. I eat unlimited fruit and veg (apart from potatoes). I try not to get over hungry and snack on fruit whenever I feel the urge to eat. I try not to be too obsessive about it all and have now got down to my 'healthy weight'. (have lost about 3 stone in total)
My next challenge is 'maintenance' - and there is also a weigh in group for that as well.
We are all in the same boat - and this site is great as we all encourage each other. It has been a real help to me over this past year.
Wishing you all the best.
Happy Days!!
