Not as I had hoped

I started this program last week. I am used to counting calories as did so before my wedding a few years back and it worked well, however straight after the wedding I got pregnant with my third child and have been on slimming world ever since. This didn't seem to work for me, I think i was too greedy for the plan as eat as much as you want, I did and even though this was free wholesome food, I lost about 7lbs in a year! I did exercise, home DVDs and walking but nothing worked so I decided to go back to calories and found this plan. I have been reading everyone's comments all week and it has really spurred me on, I even started the couch to 5k with Zumba and strength training so was looking forward to weigh in yesterday (I weigh every Saturday morning) and to my surprise I gained half a pound! I was shocked, I had felt better all week, more in control, weighed everything even measured my wine out with the jug but still had a gain! Any suggestions would be greatly accepted as I refuse to believe that this is my weight from now on as i just cannot shift the one stone I want to lose, my calorie intake is between 1350-1400 so what can I be doing wrong? I will stick to it but feeling a little disappointed ๐Ÿ˜•๐Ÿ˜•

Hi Lakes25,

Can I ask if you used the BMI calculator on the NHS 12 week plan to get a personalised calorie range to eat within? ย The thing is I thought the 12 week plan didn't advocate eating below 1400 calories, so I'm wondering if you're perhaps not eating sufficient calories on this occasion.

Of course, it's only been a week, so your weight gain could be down to other factors - even the salt content of a meal, or doing a bit more exercise than normal can lead to a small gain, and if waited out, then the results will eventually be reflected on the scales. ย I would say just double check your calorie range - and keep focused and patient, and hopefully things will progress well.

Good luck!

Lowcal :-)

I think you have to stick with the plan and be patient. Even if you just lose one pound a week, it adds up over 12 weeks. It takes a few weeks for the body to settle in to new eating regimes, so hopefully the weight will start to drop off soon. It's great that you are combining the calorie counting with exercise! Let the gain spur you on to be even more determined!!!!

I didn't lose the first week, only 1/4 lb the second week, then lost 2. 1/2 ๐Ÿ˜Š And that has been the pattern ever since, 15 kg off in total, over two stone, slow and steady ๐Ÿ˜Š Don't give up, ๐Ÿ˜Š

Hi i have the same experience. Dont matter how little i eat & exercise i didnt loose anything for a whole month. I think hormones may make a difference in my case. I usually dont eat over 1200 cals a day. I feel disappointed too. I am going to carry on this plan. Perhaps you could try & drop your calories a little and see if it helps.

Hang on in there.๐Ÿ˜Š

I know it is so frustrating isn't it!!! It doesn't seem to matter what I do nothing is shifting this weight, I only want to lose a pound a week, on this I am not greedy lol! Onwards and upwards though so fingers crossed for this week ๐Ÿ™
