Well I don't weigh in as I'm such a floater up & down with my weight loss.

We do a lot of entertaining so thats a no no if you want to lose some weight.

I have now been given a date for a hip replacement so now I just have to try and lose some fat on my hips. I joined my fitness pal to help me with exercise, I did not realise I was eating far to much fruit and fats, cheese is my down fall so niw I can still enjoy cheese but not so much.

I started my weight loss back in the summer this year I was 12st 4lbs, I knew I needed to lose 2 st at least. I would lose 2 lb go out and put it back on. a merry go round this morning I weighed myself 11st 1lb. lost 6 lbs since I started

Good to hear from you Scattydame and I’m pleased you have successfully made some changes 👍

Nothing beats joining in with forum events and activities for motivation, especially the Daily Diary and the Group Weigh-in’s. Have a look at the Whats Happening Chat Thread for a full list

Hi Scattydame - so it sounds like you feel your lifestyle is a bit of an obstacle to weight loss?

What is it about entertaining that makes you eat/drink too much of the wrong stuff?

Are there ways you can cut back without looking like too much of a killjoy at your own party, or like someone who doesn't trust their own cooking?

How about ...

- sparkling water instead of wine, or a spritzer (so you are only drinking half the wine you otherwise would);

- if you like beer (I do!) - some alcohol-free beers are surprisingly light in calories (my current fave is Becks Blue, 40 cals per 330 mil bottle);

- alternate drinks with water;

- have smaller portions of calorific things - say a spoonful of pudding on your plate rather than the full portion?

- leave the nibbles alone...

- cook healthy stuff;

- major on the salad;

- what can you think of that you could easily and happily do?

If I have learned anything on my weight-loss journey, it's that the stuff I find easy and enjoyable is the stuff I will do.

Well done on the 6lb loss so far. You've proved you can do it!

I have found planning my meals (and some quite strict calorie-counting) worked for me. I don't have time i n the morning as I am flying out the door to work, but the Daily Diary is open from the previous evening, or I post from the bus.

You can do this! Cheering you on.
