Hello. This is my first time joining with HealthUnlocked and I am quite anxious on starting a new journey for myself.

How do I go about with following the plans and stuff?

Also any great tips on not to binge eat because I have been doing that quite alot and I want to be able to have my eating under control.

Love to hear back from you!

Hi Chynadoll and welcome.

It's well worth the time to read the info that moreless has given you, so you can participate fully.

Re binge-eating - is it related to comfort eating / emotional upset? Or are you "dieting" and then snapping from hunger? Some thoughts:

1. If you have control over the food that's in your home, don't buy the stuff that you are likely to binge on.

2. If like me you share your home with others who maybe buy food that's less healthy, I make them keep it on a separate shelf which I have "trained" myself not to touch.

3. Plan your food meticulously for each day (I plan my meals the night before) and stick to your plan. The Daily Diary on this forum can help.

4. Allow yourself one low-cal thing you can eat as many as you want: e.g. pickled onions, olives, watermelon... for now, until you get it under control. But write down how many you have in the day and calculate the calories.

Easier said than done, I know, but you've got to have a plan ... I'm cheering you on!

Hi Chynadoll, you've certainly found the right place. The volunteer administrators are a wonderful bunch and will set you in the right direction. I had battled with my eating/weight since I was 17 (now 65!). In the last few weeks since I started here I really feel I have got a grip on it at last. Good luck with your journey

hi id maintained quite a while and every so often put a bit back on but usually lost it again. however after Christmas I just couldn't get motivated and I was fine during the day but binge ate in the evening. starting every day with, wwwwhhhhhyyyy, lol. I just couldn't stop myself. I came on this forum and read many posts, joined a weekly weigh in and got ideas and advice. something clicked and I got my mojo back. I started by changing from crisps and biscuits to grapes and bananas and then saved my pudding till bit later and now I dont binge. I do let myself have something on a sunday evening, just a treat and this keeps me going through the week but I also don't wake up feeling guilty. this is something that works for me. good luck on your weight loss journey and I hope you find what works for you. :-)
