Stepped on the scales this morning... 242lbs!!!
How did I let myself go so much?
Please can anyone share some advice on what healthy changes I can make to my diet/lifestyle to help me loose weight. I just don't know what to do.
Thank you x

Hi Be_0193,
You've made a very brave step to go on those scales and share your weight on this forum, and all credit to you for that - there are lots of people on here who will be able to offer you support and encouragement on your weight loss journey.
I would recommend taking a look at the NHS website - it has a 12 week structured plan, that is simple to follow and really good. Reading other people's posts and responses to questions within this forum can also be really helpful. The link for the NHS website is: nhs.uk/weightloss
I do a regular Monday 'weigh-in' post, and you're very welcome to join it if you would like to. There are also various other regular posts by other people as well - everyone is equally welcoming. Or you could do your own post and encourage others to join you! The variety of this forum is refreshing and it really is a supportive community of like-minded people.
Wishing you a great week ahead.

oh well done for taking that big first step and weighing yourself! Take a look at the nhs website first of all and use the calculator to see how much weight you need to lose. It will also tell you how many calories per day you can have .
Then start using My Fitness Pal everyday and log all the food you eat. You will have to weigh it as well to be very accurate.
My friend list 4st last year by cutting out.....cakes, crisps, chocolate, biscuits, alcohol. So you could just start with cutting those things out of your menu to start with while you investigate the websites.
The biggest thing to remember is that you will need to change your eating habits forever and this will take time. So slow but sure you'll get there ! ?
I can help u out with that. Eat a lot of protein, less carbs, don't eat anything 2 hours before bed because it stores the fat that u eat. If u r hungry drink water because your body tricks you and thinks your hungry. Or have like a spoonful of peanut butter
Take a deep breath and don't rush into making big changes until you have done some research. There are so many different diet plans out there and only you will know, after research, what suits your particular lifestyle because, if you don't then you will not be able to stick to it. There speaks the voice of experience with many failed diets behind it.
You have had good advice in your many replies. I can only recommend you read The Fast Diet by Dr Michael Mosley & Mimi Spencer. To me it is the simplest method to follow with no expensive diet plan. Anyway it is working for me as I am not finding it hard to follow but may not be so suitable for you.
Once you decide this forum will give you all the support possible. We are all in the same boat.
Very good luck. It's great that you have taken your first step!
Perhaps have a read of "Fat Chance" by the American obesity expert Robert Lustig. He explains how food affects our hormones and our bodies, and how to stop addictive eating.
Try moving from the "white" carbs to the "brown/wholemeal" carbs, eat lots of different veg and good quality protein. Try to avoid anything with added sugar, like low fat yoghurts.
The 12 week plan works for many people, and if it doesn't, there are alternatives.
Good luck.
4 weeks ago I weighed 240lbs today I weigh 224lbs. I made those all important changes to my diet and lifestyle. I got myself a treadmill a bike, gym ball and kettle bell. I work out almost every day for 30mins and eat whole foods lean meat and fish. I have cut the crisps and snack on fruit now. Never had a sweet tooth.
I have lost weight in the past and gained it all back, but this year feels different. This is my year to take control. Joined the gym yesterday too for that extra kick start.
I hope you are able to take control too and I wish you every success. Good luck.
Thank you for all of your kind words. It's comforting to hear that others are in the same position that I am and have made healthy changes to help them loose weight.
@trafford1 Wow that's brilliant! I have a workout bike at home which I use everyday. What helps you to keep motivated as that's where I fail every time
