You are not your age,

Nor the size of clothes you wear,

You are not a weight,

Or the colour of your hair.

You are not your name,

Or the dimples in your cheeks,

You are all the books you read,

And all the words you speak,

You are your croaky morning voice,

And the smiles you try to hide,

You’re the sweetness in your laughter,

And every tear you’ve cried,

You’re the songs you sing so loudly,

When you know you’re all alone,

You’re the places that you’ve been to,

And the one that you call home,

You’re the things that you believe in,

And the people that you love,

You’re the photos in your bedroom,

And the future you dream of,

You’re made of so much beauty,

But it seems that you forgot,

When you decided that you were defined,

By all of the things you’re not.

I suppose it’s a natural thing to do. Many of us lose confidence when we are over weight or feel we don’t fit in. We are rude and unkind to ourselves and then wonder why others treat us in a similar fashion. We wouldn’t call others in the street by the names we use for ourselves.

By respecting yourself, you give yourself power and with that comes strength and confidence. You present your self differently to the world and suddenly your goals seem more achievable. 😊

And it becomes overwhelming, and all we can see about ourselves. That's what I think when I see people who choose usernames that define them by their negative view of themselves

Yes I agree. I find it very hard to call some people by their chosen name. I just feel as though I am insulting them. A positive name is so important.
