Food Rules to Stay Healthy :)

Here what I found today morning. I started to follow today. I just thought to share it with you all :)

*Pay more, eat less.

*Stop eating before you’re full.

*Eat when you are hungry, not when you are bored.

*Eat slowly.

*Spend as much time enjoying the meal as it took to prepare it.

*Buy smaller plates and glasses.

*Serve a proper portion and don’t go back for seconds.

*Do all your eating at a table. (A desk does not count!)

*Try not to eat alone.

*Leave something on your plate.

Please add your suggestions and thoughts :)

Enjoy! :)

Thanks!

I would prefer to eat when I'm hungry and stop when I'm comfortably full. Being hungry will lessen resolve.

Eat the foods that allow my body to know when it's hungry, or full, rather than the foods that cause false hunger shortly after eating.

Eat fresh whole foods and not processed foods.

Enjoy all that I eat and drink, but not eat and drink for enjoyment.

No snacking, only eat at mealtimes.

Make food and eating just part of my life, not the be all and end all of it.

"Enjoy all that I eat and drink, but not eat and drink for enjoyment."- I love this one!!

Ummm I like this.....

Enjoy all that I eat and drink, but not eat and drink for enjoyment.

Definitely one for me to ponder? 😉

Pay more, eat less doesn't sit well with me.

I don't know in what context that was meant but overall there is a massive conception that to eat healthy you have to spend money - when in reality you can eat healthily and LOWER food costs!

I agree with your points of enjoying what you are cooking and having a proper portion!

I also would add - be open to advice, be open to trying things (foods you may think you didn't like)

Hi Hidden I agree with you. But everything clean healthy food in all menu plans in my area is with doubled the price of other food items... I only pay less if I eat very less 🙂

Trying foods that I don't like.. Mm good idea 🙂

It's a shame it costs you more for healthier stuff!! What country are you living in?

I agree in that I would prefer a smaller piece of good, outdoor reared pork to a cheap manufactured sausage, but I take your point Steelad 😊

Yes... at a local Pub here you can pay less and eat less - they offer OAP/dieter/child smaller meals... at a considerable saving.

A fillet steak as opposed to rump? It's better quality, smaller and pricier - unless very small. Tonight I'm having scallops - not sure how I will cook them just yet. Expensive but yummy. £4. Eating alone tonight so they're all mine!

Cook at least 5 meals a week from scratch - know what goes into your food

Weigh out portions - especially of calorific foods such as rice/pasta, oil, butter. Don't deceive yourself you are eating less than you are.

Drink half a pint of water before you eat and another half a pint with your meal

Plan your meals in advance - anticipate problems - for example I had a hospital appointment at 12 noon yesterday and don't eat breakfast. The hospital is an hours drive from home. We took a small pot with some almonds in it to snack on until we could eat lunch (after 1.30pm) rather than eating at a pub on the way home.

Swap white pasta and rice for wholegrain - after a while, you'll never want to go back!

Eat at regular times - it avoids arriving at a situation where you are starving and eat a lot of rubbish whilst waiting for food to cook.

Use strong flavoured cheese - then grate it. You'll need less for the same flavour and it will make it go further.

Try vegetables that you've never eaten before - and try ROASTING vegetables - it takes them to a whole new level in terms of flavour!

Hey Pineapple27 🙂 What another bunch of ideas.. ☺️ Thanks so much.

I cook my meals when I'm not tired after work only but when I cook I make sure it goes from scratch and logging all the ingredients.

On the go snack pack idea is great! I received that idea from the admins on the other day I skipped a meal.

Wholegrains - a BIG YES!!

Cheese is something I don't like to add to my food but good to add it to my trying new recipes list 🙂

How do you roast vegetables?

Agree about the water. I lived on a boat in the Med for four years. We drank wine but like the natives heavily interspersed with water, half a bottle spread over hours of a long leisurely meal - sip of wine, a few sips of water and repeat. I'm not a chocoholic or cake fanatic but do enjoy a glass with my evening meal.

Focus on what you CAN eat not what you can’t 😊.

Plan lots of variety in your diet, and try different recipes

Strict portion control. Plate up, and put extras into Tupperware boxes immediately. Any spare food lying around is extra temptation

With regards to stopping eating before your full, the way I had it explained was to stop eating when you stop feeling hungry, rather than eating until you feel stuffed. This is still a work in progress for me.

Hello IndigoBlue61 Wow! Thank you for your suggestions 🙂

Good idea on hiding the extras. Portion size is again important when we stop eating when we stop feeling hungry and not stuffing even we are not feeling full 🙂
