I'm thinking your husband probably does what he does because you say one thing and do another. He will assume you really do want more food if you continue to eat it. People take more notice of what we do than what we say.
I hope you'll read the links moreless has given you as they will give both of you a new way forward
Lots of info to read already... something to get you soundly to sleep tonight but well worth getting to grips with
I think that BridgeGirl has a fairly valid point and it got me thinking about one of the ideas that the plan mentions and that I used to great success. That was, I spent the first 6 months only having my meals off a side plate. If he's portioning out for you, give him that plate first. Beware though, because even with a side plate it is still easy to go over our cal limit.
My biggest tip, will be to come here as regularly as possible. You will get further than week one. Looked at another way... if you always do the same thing you will always get the same result. Agree with yourself right now to do things differently and you'll be helping yourself be more ready for that op.
Good luck!
Husbands don't like to see you eat less than normal - so you could have a plate of cooked savoy or sweetheart cabbage and skip the potatoes and peas parsnips but keep carrots as they are high in A C and D vitamins. if you eat white meat and fish without breadcrumbs or batter, and cut down on milk, using lactase free semi skimmed milk - this cuts down milk sugar. Fruit which can accelerate your weight loss are raspberries strawberries, black currants blue berries and black berries. Sugar free low fat yoghurts may be ok, with large tablespoon to go with berry fruit. It is cutting down on the savoury biscuits and sausage meat which contains flour and glucose and grain based foods. Cutting down on low calorie drinks which contain sucralose which converts to sugar in your liver may help too as well as sugar free chocolates and sweets with sorbitol which is corn syrup. topping up with vitamin c supplements with zinc might help I you feel you are not getting enough in food - sometimes meds reduce your levels too. All the best for your diet.
I’m new here too but started off as others have said by writing everything I ate down and weighed all portions except vegetables. I took the approach that if I really fancied something I would eat it but wrote it down without fail, preferably before I ate it. This really helped to hold myself to account and frequently made me change my mind! It has made me far more mindful of what I eat and 7 weeks in I have broken some shockingly bad eating habits.
Changing your husbands behaviour may be trickier-maybe getting him on side by emphasising that your recovery following your hip op will be easier if you shed a few pounds?
This really is a very supportive forum so do use it-everyone will be cheering you on!
Good to hear you're making progress It can be a revelation when we write down what we actually eat rather than what we think we eat.
Have you thought about joining a weekly weigh-in? It's a great way of getting to know a team of people and supporting each other along the way, through the ups and downs. Further information here healthunlocked.com/nhsweigh...
I always thought Monday would be a bad day for weighing, coming after the weekend, but someone told me that was good for keeping focused over the weekend and that's borne out as the Monday team have some very good weight loss results
There are some great tips here..... Http://tweaklets.com that don't need you to completely change what you eat but help to achieve a healthier lifestyle.
