Yep never felt so full in all my life lol

I had steak with salad avocado peppers spring onions and I took the idea of roasting broccoli and cauliflower from the thread, I whipped up some eggs and made a omelette and put cheese in it.. and oh my god I was actually full and still feel full !!!

I’ve made my overnight oats for morning with low-fat yogurt and fruit.

Made a sugar free jelly with fruit and I can feel the transition to a higher fat and low carb diet starting to take shape.

Il be honest I don’t like full fat yogurt.. ☠️ Lol I love the asda low fat strawberry and peach yogurts. It’s my taste.. I don’t know why.. I don’t like full fat milk either only semi skimmed πŸ‘

Oh I love it ! Careful with the low fat yoghurt, they sometimes replace the fat with sugar ! :-)

I must admit im still on semi skimmed, cant get away with full fat in tea! :-) x

Yeah that’s the one thing but my choices are definitely better than they were before. I’m on the right track !! I don’t feel bloated, I feel full and usually I’m hungry an hour after I’ve eaten

I’m getting up later so I have my breakfast later.. which is why I was looking for other ideas. I will be implementing them bit by bit 😊

Isn't it great to get those full flavours into your meals? :)

Zelda123 profile image
Zelda123β€’ in reply toBridgeGirl

Yeah !! I couldn’t believe how filling an omelette with cheese is 😊

BridgeGirl profile image
BridgeGirlAdministrator2 stoneβ€’ in reply toZelda123

A recipe I picked up in the Daily Diary was omelette with blue cheese and walnuts. I'd never have thought of that.

My favourite frittata is chorizo, red onion, red pepper (or yellow or orange, depending on what you have), half can of tomatoes, a bit of chilli if you want, two eggs, topped with cheddar cheese. Scrumptious :)

Zelda123 profile image
Zelda123β€’ in reply toBridgeGirl

Oh god that sounds nice !! May have to pinch that lol

I think I was a bit distracted when I said half a tin of tomatoes! :o Should have said half a dozen cherry tomatoes, halved :)

Tiggerr profile image
Tiggerrβ€’ in reply toBridgeGirl

I was willing to go with the 1/2 a tin :)

BridgeGirl profile image
BridgeGirlAdministrator2 stoneβ€’ in reply toTiggerr

I think it would be a bit wet for a frittata :)

Tiggerr profile image

:) lol

In this modern day of marketing, you would only have to rebrand it as frittata soup or something

Going to try these - thanks for sharing BridgeGirl! Last night I made crustless quiche - in a baking tin lined with baking paper I poured a mix of 3 eggs, double cream, cooked bacon, yellow pepper, cooked baby leek, cooked asparagus, cherry tomatoes. Baked for 30 mins - it was easy and filling and divine!

Oh my god that sounds lovely

BridgeGirl profile image

That sounds gorgeous! I need to top up my asparagus supply: the season is so short and I want to make the most of it

Plus extra mature cheddar goes well!

How could I forget to mention the generous heap of grated cheese - silly me! Thanks cheritorrox!

Can I ask how much you’ve lost since doing this diet ?

BridgeGirl profile image
BridgeGirlAdministrator2 stoneβ€’ in reply toZelda123

3st 5lbs, from obese to a BMI of 23.5. The first stone was following the 12 week plan which gave me a good sense of portion size and calorie values. Following on from that, I started to pay much more attention to what I was eating, rather than just how much, and, with much information and guidance from this forum, that led me to the lchf approach. For someone who adored bread and potatoes, I would never have thought it possible but I enjoy it so much I don't miss those things

Lovely frittata recipe, BridgeGirl.

I make mine the same minus the tomatoes. If I have feta in the fridge, I cube that and use instead of cheddar - the creamy sharpness of feta makes a nice change. This was a favourite even before LCHF but very enjoyable now.

Hope everyone's having a good day.

I also add spinach if there's any hanging around. Spinach goes in most things. There are so many variations we can try, aren't there?

Off to do a smoked salmon and cream cheese omelette, with fried courgette (as I've run out of spinach :D )

kleineKerze profile image
kleineKerzeβ€’ in reply toBridgeGirl

Oh, great idea. I use spinach quite often, but have never used it in a frittata or omelette.

Out of interest, do you cook the spinach first, say, alongside the peppers, etc, before adding the eggs? I'm not keen on raw spinach but like it cooked.

BridgeGirl profile image
BridgeGirlAdministrator2 stoneβ€’ in reply tokleineKerze

Yes, I just give it time to wilt on top of the other veg. I'm not keen on it raw, either.

Another of my stand by recipes is shakshuka, which I was introduced to on the forum. I add spinach to that, too

kleineKerze profile image
kleineKerzeβ€’ in reply toBridgeGirl

Perfect. I shall add spinach to my next frittata.

Now shakshuka.... it's easy, it includes things I like eating, it fits in with the kind of food I make, it looks appealing, but I have never made it because I just know I won't like the juxtaposition of eggs and tomatoes and spices in the same dish.

Funnily enough, someone on 'Kitchen Cabinet' on Radio 4 this morning said the exact same thing, and I totally understood.

I had spinach last night curried with paneer, alongside cauliflower rice.

This gives me hope I'm doing low carb and I'm starving all the time! Might try it for a few more days before I pack it in!

BridgeGirl profile image
BridgeGirlAdministrator2 stoneβ€’ in reply toLauratb

It's unfortunate that people pick up the low carb message without including the healthy fats bit of it. I'm sure, once you start working on that side of things, you won't be feeling hungry. Get rid of anything low fat/diet/'light', use butter, olive oil and lard for cooking and treat yourself to some new recipes - dietdoctor has some great ones.

You'll get plenty of advice and encouragement on the low carb high fat forum healthunlocked.com/lchf-diet : you need to follow it to read all the posts and it will give you a rounded picture of that approach

Thanks I'll have a look at the group!

Yeah that's what I've been doing- apart from my diet coke, not ready to give that up yet!

moreless profile image
morelessAdministrator7 stoneβ€’ in reply toLauratb

I suspect it's the diet coke that's causing the hunger. It's believed that some artificial sweeteners can cause insulin spikes and mess with blood sugar levels, which in turn cause hunger.

My advice would be to go cold turkey and ride out the short term withdrawal, to allow for long term benefits.

Zelda123β€’ in reply toLauratb

Honestly I never feel full. Never. After my tea last night I was like... I feel full !? This morning I still have that full feeling.. it’s weird lol

Lauratb profile image
Lauratb4lbsβ€’ in reply toZelda123

Do you monitor your % carbs and fat or just try and make good choices?

Zelda123 profile image
Zelda123β€’ in reply toLauratb

I don’t monitor nothing πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ I’ve just started and picking things from ideas and reading the advice on here. Then I make it. The only thing I will say is when I get my plate I do a third of everything so third salad, third protein and third veg with eggs. So I don’t go over the top with my portion sizes. That’s it really and I always have sugar free jelly and yogurt after to stop me from wanting to gauge on chocolate as I have got major issues with a sweet tooth especially time of the month 😊

Low carb and you're hungry? Something is wrong. For the most part, you shouldn't need to restrict calories at all...and that's especially true if you do LC plus intermittent fasting (like holding off your first meal of the day until 11 or 12)
