I've earned it!

For the second time in two months I've been hit by a car while riding my motorbike. Last time I escaped any real injury, this time it was a broken wrist and some impressive bruises, one of which shows that there are some benefits to a naturally padded backside. I did my food order when I got back from the hospital on Saturday, there is chocolate in there and dammit, I am going to eat it and enjoy it! Back to the diet once my bruises start to clear up! Stay safe out there peeps!

Oh my goodness that's so bad. I hope you are ok and there is no lasting damage. The roads are so dangerous and nomatter how careful you are someone else may not be, hence accidents. Best wishes for a speedy recovery and enjoy that chocolate!!

Thanks Kate, Should make a full recovery although I think two accidents is enough. I'm not likely to get my bike back anyway so I might try an alternative for a while. Chocolate definitely has it's healing qualities which I intend to make use of. I am currently liking the idea of canal boats. Avoiding the roads all together!

Oh no!! Hope you’re ok Cookie ☹️

Rest up and take care, a little chocolate is ok, but remember you need good nutrition to help healing 😊

Fully agree. Can't do much cooking but I did find some soups which are apparently very nutritious. Those I can throw in the microwave. Was able to still make my porridge so mornings are covered. Also ordered salad bits which my mother will cut up for me. I can slice up tofu to either fry up in the pan or even eat are so I've got plenty of healthy options to pick from. Only issue I've got is that I can't prepare food the way I'm used to. There aren't as many options for a vegan with a gluten allergy. Should only be for a few weeks. Then my next check up should see a new cast and more mobility.

Lots of lovely salad and veggies around at the moment, if your Mum can help you prep them 😊

I have an electric steamer which I love, makes the veg taste better and you can leave the prepped veg in it until you need them, then just flick a switch. 😊

Have you used the Daily Diary? It’s great for help with food choices

Haven't used the daily diary but I try to be reasonably consistent. My mum made a bowl of salad which I was the able to play with. For example yesterday She put out a jacket potato for me and I was able to make that up with some oven baked falafel that I had in the freezer. That salad and falafel went into the jacket with a little butter and ketchup and I have a healthy filling meal that I can make up one handed. Today, that same bowl of salad will go into a pain with some scrambled tofu and some new potatoes for another healthy meal. Yes I'll need some help with this one but it will be quite easy to make up so won't be very stressful.

I do not really think of myself as a gymnast, but I did some gymnastics at school (50 years ago)... so, when a car pulled out in front of my pedal-cycle I was able to dive over the bonnet and do a forward roll. I related this many times to my pre-school gym students! (My late wife had a ballet, tap and gym school).

My son cycles from near Wimbledon to Canary Wharfe most days - and had a bike written-off recently (hospitalised but no injury).

Hi S11m, glad your son is ok. Getting a bike written off is one thing but injury definitely makes it more difficult. It sounds like your own near miss was a great story to tell the little ones. It's a great way to remind them how important it is to stay fit and healthy. I didn't get much of a chance to dive over the bonnet but I think it did scoop me up when it hit me which cushioned the blow to some degree, so I'm very lucky that I was able to more or less walk away from it.

Hope you heal quickly!

I myself would really love a motorbike but I just can't trust 90% of other people on the road!

Hi Concerned, not quite up to the weight training yet but certainly looking forward to getting back to exercise. Don't like sitting down so much. My chocolate is really good quality dark chocolate so even though I enjoy it, I don't feel like eating large amounts of it.
