So I decided today to give this diet a try!! My 8 hour window will be between 10-6:00. So what happens if I want to switch that up on the weekends when I wake up later and may go out to dinner later or something like that? Does it STILL work if you switch it up? Also, I asked this question another time but only got one response. For those doing this diet, approximately how many pounds are you losing a week? Thanks

Questions for those of you doing the 16:8 diet.....
Why not ask your question on the Fasting and Furious forum, Downandout123? healthunlocked.com/fasting-...
There are no hard and fast rules, this should fit in with your day-to-day life, but please don't think that you're suddenly going to start losing pounds by following it. I use it for maintenance. Your whole regime is what will make the weight drop, but the decreased eating window, may offer other health benefits.
Also, be aware that if you are used to eating carbs on a regular basis, hunger will be a big factor. You would be best getting fat adapted with a low carb eating programme first, which will also help with weight loss. Follow the LCHF forum, for more insight healthunlocked.com/lchf-diet
How does this diet work and what is the best time that I can choose from.
I like to try something but I need motivation which I lack in. I don't have anyone. What do I need to do it.
The timing and lengths of my fasts have varied, but I'm still finding it helpful and effective
16:8 will help weight loss - but, I think, it works best in combination with a Low Carbohydrate High Fat diet, not eating too much and exercising.
There are many members on this forum who use 16:8, but, as moreless says, the "Fasting and Furious" site would be the place to ask.
8 hours is 8 hours - it does not matter which 8 hours.
I had four festive meal on for consecutive days before Christmas - and I still lost a pound that week... but I ate One Meal A Day... and between lunch one day and dinner the next was nearly thirty hours.
I chose to lose weight gradually - and I limit my weight loss to one pound a week. I usually fast 20 hours a day, and eat between 10:00 and 14:00.

Thanks! I just went to this informative site. Interesting videos also! I'm excited to start this! I need the discipline to KNOW that I cannot eat after a certain time. A lot of times just a few crackers becomes the whole sleeve! Lol. NO MORE!!!
So, what I do, and I've felt so much better. I fast from 8pm to 12pm. I only drink black coffee in in. Mornings. I've lost 40 pounds over a few months and I feel great. But, you can't cheat... at all. Only water during fasting hours or black coffee. You'd be surprised how well water fills you up once you're use to it.
Try not to think of it in terms of "discipline"; as moreless said, unless your diet is specifically tuned to help your body burn fat between meals, you're just going to make yourself miserable.
I do something like 16:8, but not because it's a conscious choice. I just happen to feel hungry around 10am and 5pm. The reason I'm not hungry outside of that window is that I eat big, filling, carb-free meals.
If your meals are heavily carb-based, an 18-hour enforced fast will have only negative effects: you'll have massive cravings, and your body will hold onto body fat even more aggressively, because it thinks your starving.
Hi ive been doing it years and I do alter the times, it doesnt seem to make alot of difference, I was averaging just under 1lb a week but that seems to have increased now im incorporating lchf , good luck !
I've also read that switching it up is a good idea--in other words, eat normally for a whole day, then see if you can fast for one whole day (dinner only) then back to 16/8, then after a while maybe something different. The reason is, your body adapts and you want to shake it up.
So who has done this and can someone give an idea what to eat.
As moreless asked you further up the thread, are you talking about 16:8 or LCHF?
Many people combine the two. I would make sure that you are including good fats that will fill you up and keep you going between meals. If you are looking for ideas for meals, take a look at the Daily Diary and see what other's are eating, or follow the link to the LCHF forum and see what people are eating there. If you are interested in LCHF, then take a look at DietDoctor, it explains it there and has lots of lovely recipes.
I basically eat whatever I want for dinner, but for lunch I stick to lean protein (chicken for me) and a side of green vegetables. I dropped all the weight I want, I feel incredible. And now that winter broke and I'm in the yard and at the gym I feel great. I just dont eat after 8pm until after 12pm.
