Hi Firemansmrs and congratulations on the upcoming nuptials! What´s the part you struggle with during the weekend? Do the people around you eat larger/richer meals and expect you to join in or do you yourself tend to go for more celebratory food on your days off? If increasing your activity levels is out of the question calorie restriction of some kind will have to be what gets you to goal.
What I do when I visit my parents (where there is always food around) is skip breakfast and not eat anything after dinner. Other people might opt to have something at every meal but cut the carbs, especially for meals richer in fat. Whatever you do: remind yourself of your motivation with clockwork regularity, at least until you´ve formed new habits. Coming here really helps with that
Best of luck finding a strategy that works for you!
Thank you for the reply, I suppose it is more celebratory food and portion size goes through the roof. Friends and family think there's something wrong if I don't eat what is in front of me.
I'm really pleased that I found this place, by accident. So far I have found it to be very informative, and lots of lovely people on here.
If you feel uncomfortable telling people you want to lose a couple of pounds to feel great in your wedding dress, consciously eating more slowly can help. That way you will still be seen putting food into your mouth and enjoying the social part of the meal (instead of abstaining or being done halfway through) but will end up ingesting a smaller portion anyway.
What a wonderful incentive to lose weight, to look and feel your best for your wedding. You can make great progress in the next four months and I hope you will find a way of losing weight that you will stick with and enjoy for years to come. Much better than a diet. You don't want to look fab in June, only to be back here again at your start weight in October.
I'm going to give you a few things to read that could give you a different approach to losing weight. It's no good doing the same old thing that has let you down or only given short term success previously. Take your time reading these and come back with any questions
