I am grateful to everyone who responded to my post yesterday “Sharing a Good News Story”
Can I just add. Like I said I thought my diet was good, but also I had never had any bowel problems such as constipation or IBS. Also, no one I. The course of my treatment ever suggested that it was a lack of fibre, or indeed any other aspect of my lifestyle that caused the disease. Indeed up till then I was fortunate enough to have enjoyed excellent health and rarely in my life had visited a doctor. However, since volunteering for bowelcanceruk I have read a lot about the advice regarding fibre and the ecperts do seem to think that there is a link between fibre and gut bacteria which may in turn have a link to colorectal cancer. I increased my fibre intake following this advice on my own volition, as opposed to have being advised a lifestyle change. So, I do not want to worry anyone, we are using this forum because we care about health issues and raise awareness , and there is so much health advice it can be confusing, The aim of the post was just to say how lucky I had been and especially to highlight importance of screening. Thanks again for all your good wishes
