Hi Ruby. I think at the end if it all you have to follow whatever process is right for you.

When i started i would get on the scales every couple of days but seeing the results go up and down really didn't help me so i kept to just the one day a week, being a monday. Since around november/december, i changed planning my food diary from daily to weekly. I find that weekly planning means my meals are better balanced overall, and the weigh in each monday confirms (or would deny) that that week's plan was right for me.

I do also check my waist measurement and BMI number every couple of weeks as they show the changes just as well if not better than the scales do xx

Oh thanks for your comments, i really appreciate it, but yesh when you get on the scales every week does seem to go up and down, But also i only eat in moderation i dont est in between my meals unless its fruit, what do you do?

I eat 3 meals a day with nothing in between. My breakfast and lunch are a standard size meal but my tea is a rather large portion. Evenings used to be constant snacking for me so my theory is if i eat a lot at tea time, i won't want to snack lol It works for me so havent changed it 😁

The scales can change terribly through the week. I once got on them on the sunday (for a sneak peak) and they said i'd gained almost 2.5kg over the week!! 24 hrs later for my weigh in i'd actually lost 1.6kg. I still have to fight the urge to get on them mid week but i haven't succumbed yet 😁 xx

Hi Ruby,This is my first week and I downloaded the NHS calorie app. To start off with I am planning to weigh once a week, before I start the following week. I'm finding that by writing in the calories I have a bit more control. I have tried other slimming methods where there is lots of 'free' food but I think I need to train myself in portion control. Good to hear what others are doing

😀

You're welcome. Sometimes this forum can seem daunting to begin with there's a lot going on. I suggest you use the web page as opposed to the app because the app doesn't let you see everything. If you have access to a laptop that's easier too, to begin with.

But its hard? X nice to be able to talk to people on here that are trying to lose weight and finding it difficult

Yes it is good to talk to others with the same issues. This week I've been weighing everything and my portion sizes were definitely too big. Hopefully reducing the sizes will help.

The Daily Diary is a great place to chat about food choices. There were nearly 350 replies there yesterday! Having a regular pattern of posting there could help you with tips and ideas, plus helping you stick to your plans :)

TheTabbyCat has given you the link to Pinned Posts and you'll find the Diary fourth on that list

There are a few people here who don't weigh themselves at all. Usually they will take measurements but one or two rely on how their clothes fit. Some people weigh themselves at least daily and apparently get used to the natural fluctuations they see. I, and I think the majority of us, weigh weekly to post on their chosen weigh-in.

Anything can work if it suits your way of thinking. I've seen people panic because their weight hasn't gone down for 2 days! I've seen people put on weight and then lose it and more a day or two later. For me that thinking is way too short term. I'm interested in my average weight over the next several years (however many I have left). A downward weekly trend is fine by me. But then as we often say, we're all different.

Today I went to the gym I missed out on lunch just had a main meal with them found that in the evening I wanted to eat more in snack so I think I need to stick to ridged timetable with my food.I've saved all my packets and at the end of the day I should add up all the calories for example if I buy a pack of crisps I leave the packet in my bag and at the end of day I'll take out of my packets.

Dear Bluelady-sing , I'm afraid that you've replied to a very old post (2 yrs old) so you may not receive any replies. The Daily Diary and the Weigh In are the best place for chatting about almost anything including calories, mealtimes and snacking :)
