Interesting how difficult it is to get enough fibre in the diet. I would have thought i was getting enough, but according to this, maybe I'm not.

I thought my fibre intake was moderate, but checking my macros for the last few days soon disavowed me of that thought! I'm only average about 15g a day, so need to keep adding lentils and chickpeas to more dishes!
I was just going to say that Concerned! 😊 What jumped out at me was that plant sources had far better fibre content than the grains.
Another piece of advice I heard recently was that there are over 100 different types of fibre, all doing different things, and the wider the variety the better 😊

I do sometimes feel that every new piece of dietary advice I see could be summarised as "eat more cabbage" But it's always useful to have more info.
Lol 🤣. As a cabbage fan I’d have no problems with that!!! Maybe we need a new thread “100 ways with cabbage” . . .
I love cabbage too and am all for that. I've been searching like crazy for a slaw recipe that is like vinegar based instead of mayo. I've had it a couple times when eating out and loved it but can't figure out the ingredients!
If you grate all the ingredients and leave covered for a while, natural juices are released so it needs very little extra flavouring, I like orange or lemon juice, or even grated apple 😊
Oh I've chopped it all up in advance but guess that was wrong then. I find a whole cabbage in the fridge so daunting, so I cut it into fine strips and boxed it up, ready to grab a handful for a salad, soul, stir fry as needed. Hmm...
This is my favourite slaw recipe! livesimply.me/2016/03/02/ci...
That looks lovely, There is definitely something about citrus and cabbage (am liking my red cabbage and orange salad at the mo, just as well as I made a lot of it)
Hopefully things will change soon.
Did you see Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall’s interview with Jeremy Hunt? Unfortunately now he’s in his new job so who knows, but with Britain’s children now the heaviest in the world, (higher obesity levels that the USA 😢) surely government has to act soon.
I thought I was doing well too Hidden but I am falling way short!
So - eating a whole 500-gram packet of muesli every day would give me 25 grams of fibre!
I eat fruit, but it is difficult to get enough fibre if you eat gluten-free.
I used to buy vegetables, but they were always uneatable by the time I got round to thinking about eating them.
It’s more difficult if you don’t do much cooking, remember frozen vegetables count 😊 Maybe as the better weather comes you may be eating more salad?
Café food tends to be junk-on-white-bread.
In "good" restaurants now vegetables tend to be a side-order for which you pay extra.
I try to catch up on Sundays by having a carvery, and shovelling on as much vegetation as I can get on the plate!
Some of the better cafes and restaurants will often swap the bread/chips for extra salad, but I know what you mean. ☹️
